Organic phosphorus（P） is an important component of the soil P pool, and it has been proven to be a potential source of P for plants. The phosphorus utilization efficiency（PUE） and PUE related traits（tiller number（TN）, shoot dry weight（DW）, and root dry weight） under different phytate-P conditions（low phytate-P, 0.05 mmol L^-1 and normal phytate-P, 0.5 mmol L^-1） were investigated using a population consisting of 128 recombinant inbred lines（RILs） at the vegetative stage in barley. The population was derived from a cross between a P-inefficient genotype（Baudin） and a P-efficient genotype（CN4027, a Hordeum spontaneum accession）. A major locus（designated ***-3 H） conferring PUE was detected in shoots and roots from the RIL population. The quantitative trait locus（QTL） was mapped on chromosome 3 H and the allele from CN4027 confers high PUE. This locus explained up to 30.3 and 28.4% of the phenotypic variance in shoots under low and normal phytate-P conditions, respectively. It also explains 28.3 and 30.7% of the phenotypic variation in root under the low and normal phytate-P conditions, respectively. Results from this study also showed that TN was not correlated with PUE, and a QTL controlling TN was detected on chromosome 5 H. However, dry weight（DW） was significantly and positively correlated with PUE, and a QTL controlling DW was detected near the ***-3 H locus. Based on a covariance analysis, existing data indicated that, although DW may affect PUE, different genes at this locus are likely involved in controlling these two traits.

The anode activity can to a great degree limit the cathodic hydrogen evolution efficiency in an electrolyte ***,cost-efficient electrocatalysts with good water oxidation performance and stability are highly desired in widespread implementation of the hydrogen production from water *** paper proposes a facile corrosion-reconstruction strategy to transform Fe surface into a Fe-Co hydroxide layer to improve the oxygen evolution *** as-prepared catalyst was measured to have an over-potentential as low as 320 mV at 100 mA·cm^(−2),and its stability even exceeded 600 *** and Raman spectroscopy analyses indicated that the catalyst experienced chemical changes from hydroxides to oxyhydroxides and Co^(2+)to Co^(3+)during oxygen evolution reaction(OER).The corrosion-reconstruction is not only an economical method to synthesize a highly efficient,stable and durable Fe-based catalysts,it also converses the detrimental corrosion into a beneficial catalyst fabrication process.

Liquid-liquid phase separation,and the resulted solute segregation,during conventional solidification have been a long-term challenge to produce copper(Cu)-iron(Fe)immiscible composites with high strength and high *** present work reports an effective solution to this issue through laser powder bed fusion(L-PBF)in-situ alloying of Cu-8 wt.%*** observation showed that the fast cooling within micron-scale melt pools fully eliminated the Fe segregation and therefore the L-PBF fabricated nanocomposite achieved the homogeneous microstructure,which featured equiaxed fine grains around 1μm in *** of the nanocomposite at 600℃for 1 h enabled precipitation of two types of *** is coarser Fe nanoprecipitates with body-centered cubic(BCC)structure and diam-eter of 100-300 nm,mainly distributing along grain *** other is smaller Fe nanoprecipitates with face-centered cubic(FCC)structure and diameter of 10-35 nm,being observed within the grains and having coherent interfaces with the Cu *** a result,the aged Cu-Fe nanocomposite achieved tensile strength of 462.9±6.6 MPa with 30.4%±1.7%elongation to failure and 74.5%IACS(International Annealed Copper Standard)electrical *** formation mechanisms of the nanoprecipitates and the strengthening mechanisms of the nanocomposite are discussed.

The metabolic disorders such as obesity and diabetes are found to be more frequent in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The chronic systemic inflammation orchestrated by macrophages constitutes one critical pathophysiological process underlying both acute exacerbation of COPD (AECOPD) and its metabolic complications such as obesity and diabetes. The cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) signaling controlled by phosphodiesterase (PDE) 4 is a pivotal intracellular modulator for macrophages functions in immune inflammatory response underlying AECOPD as well as obesity and diabetes. Targeting PDE4/cAMP signaling has been suggested to be effective in treating AECOPD or the metabolic disorders of obesity and diabetes. It is therefore reasonable to hypothesize that the chronic systemic inflammation can be a critical link between AECOPD and the metabolic disorders and targeting the PDE4/cAMP signaling can be effective to block this link between AECOPD and the associated metabolic complications.

Recent advances in next-generation sequencing technology allow high-throughput RNA sequencing （RNA-Seq） to be widely applied in transcriptomic studies. For model organisms with a reference genome, the first step in analysis of RNA-Seq data involves mapping of short-read sequences to the reference genome. Reference-guided transcriptome assembly is an optional step, which is recommended if the aim is to identify novel transcripts. Following read mapping, the primary interest of biologists in many RNA-Seq studies is the investigation of differential expression between experimental groups. In this review, we discuss recent developments in RNA-Seq data analysis applied to model organisms, including methods and algorithms for direct mapping, reference-guided transcriptome assembly and differential expression analysis, and provide insights for the future direction of RNA-Seq.

Several mechanisms have been proposed to interpret the widely reported phenomenon of Mg corrosion that the hydrogen evolution rate increases with increasing anodic potential or anodic current density. This paper critically analyzed the two main mechanisms,(1) "the incomplete film univalent Mg+ion mechanism" and(2) "the enhanced catalytic activity mechanism", aiming to clarify the current understanding of the Mg corrosion mechanism and to provide a profound insight into the Mg characteristic electrochemical behavior, anodic polarization accelerating both hydrogen evolution and Mg dissolution. It is expected that the deepened fundamental understanding from this comprehensive mechanistic review will provide a basis of practical applications for Mg alloys and open up a new way to the control of corrosion of Mg alloys in practice.

Gas hydrate samples were first obtained in the Dongsha area,South China Sea(GMGS2)in ***-resolution 3D seismic data in the area show various small 1andslide bodies developedas huge mass transport *** bodies are divided into seven types on the basis of theirshapes,intermal structures and geneses(slide,collapse and deformation above BSRs,as well asthe slump wedge,lens,block and sheet below BSRs).Based on this classification,detailed studieswere conducted,including measurements of the slump body sizes and slope gradients of landslides,depiction of their three-dimensional characteristics,and research on the landslide *** the genetic differences of these seven types,this study analyses the possibility of verticalflow-pattern-transformation and mechanisms of submarine landsltide *** show that thedominant factor influencing the submarine landslides in the Dongsha area is the free gas emitted fromgas hydrate decomposition,with possible fransformation between flow ***,there are twokinds of relationships between submarine landslides and BSRs since the free gas either influences thesubmarine landslide bodies below or above BSRs,resulting in two types of submarine landslide bodyassociations:Type A is characterized by submarine slide above BSRs and slump lens below BSRs,whereas Type B shows deformation above BSRs and slump blocks below *** Ais favourablefor gas exploration because it indicates less decomposition and better sealing of gas hydrate layers.

Identification of QTLs Conferring Agronomic and Quality Traits in Hexaploid Wheat

The availability of elite germplasm resources with high yield and quality potentials is very important for development of cultivars in wheat. Thus, seeking such resources has been the continuous effort of breeder community. In this study, genetic analysis of a novel resource, Triticum spelta line CSCR6, from Australia was made by use of a recombination inbred line （RIL） population of 82 individuals from the cross between CSCR6 and another Australian hexaploid wheat cultivar, Lang. Data of a multiple environmental test was employed to genetically dissect quantitative trait loci （QTL） for agronomic traits such as plant height （PH）, spike length （SL）, spikelet per spike （SPI）, grain number per spike （GNS） and thousand grains weight （TGW） and for quality traits including grain protein content （GPC）, gluten content （GC）, grain hardness （GH）, falling number （FN） and sedimentation value （SV）. A 24 QTLs with additive effects were detected for all the investigated traits, and were located on chromosomes 1B, 1D, 2B, 3A, 3B, 3D, 4B, 5A, 5B, 7A, and 7B, respectively. Some QTLs located on 2B and 4B showed higher explanation of phenotypic variances and were not obviously interacted with environment. A QTL in the marker interval of wPT-5334-wPT-4918 （near the locus barc 0199） on 4B gave the highest contribution ratio of 30.76% on PH, while Qgpc-4B and Qgc-4B gave 13.07 and 14.70% contribution ratio on GPC and GC, respectively. Qph-2B, Qgns-2B, and Qgpc-2B showed 13.36, 10.00, and 10.79% contribution ratio on PH, GNS and GPC, respectively. Also, a QTL on 5A, Qsl- 5A, could explain 25.12% of phenotypic variance on SL. For most of agronomic and quality traits, CSCR6 alleles produced increase effects. The fact that a number of loci affecting the investigated traits were detected in T. spelta line CSCR6 revealed that it could offer a new opportunity for the manipulation of these traits in wheat breeding programs.
