Understanding the paleoenvironment and phytogeographical history of the Tibetan Plateau,China relies on discovering new plant *** Qaidam Basin has long been regarded as an ideal‘field laboratory’to investigate the paleoclimate and paleobiological evolution of the northern Tibetan ***,fossil angiosperms from the Qaidam Basin are rare,and our knowledge of its paleovegetation is ***,we report fossil leaves and fruits of Betulaceae found from the Oligocene Shangganchaigou Formation of northwestern Qaidam Basin(Huatugou area).Comparative morphological analysis led us to assign the fruits to the Betula subgenus Betula and the leaves to Carpinus *** findings,together with other reported fossil plants from the same locality,reveal a close floristic linkage between the Qaidam Basin and Europe during the *** northern pathway of this floristic exchange may have crossed through the Qaidam Basin during the late *** floristic linkage may have been facilitated by the continuous narrowing of the Turgai Strait and stronger westerlies,which transported moisture and provided favorable climatic ***,fossil plants collected from the Qaidam Basin suggest that during the Oligocene this region had warm and humid deciduous broad-leaf forest,which differs from the region’s modern vegetation and indicates that the Qaidam Basin may have been a suitable region for these plants to flourish and spread during the Oligocene.

Plume-lithosphere interaction in the Comei Large Igneous Province: Evidence from two types of mafic dykes in Gyangze, south Tibet, China

Two suites of mafic dykes,T1193-A and T1194-A,outcrop in Gyangze area,southeast *** are in the area of Comei LIP and have indistinguishable field occurrences with two other dykes in Gyangze,T0902 dyke with 137.7±1.3 Ma zircon age and T0907 dyke with 142±1.4 Ma zircon age reported by Wang YY et al.(2016),indicating coeval formation *** all the four diabase dykes into consideration,two different types,OIB-type and weak enriched-type,can be ***“OIB-type”samples,including T1193-A and T0907 dykes,show OIB-like geochemical features and have initial Sr-Nd isotopic values similar with most mafic products in Comei Large Igneous Provinces(LIP),suggesting that they represent melts directly generated from the Kerguelen mantle ***“weak enriched-type”samples,including T1194-A and T0902 dykes,have REEs and trace element patterns showing withinplate affinity but have obvious Nb-Ta-Ti negative *** show uniform lowerεNd(t)values(−6‒−2)and higher 87Sr/86Sr(t)values(0.706‒0.709)independent of their MgO variation,indicating one enriched mantle *** their closely spatial and temporal relationship with the widespread Comei LIP magmatic products in Tethyan Himalaya,these“weak enriched-type”samples are consistent with mixing of melts from mantle plume and the above ancient Tethyan Himalaya subcontinental lithospheric mantle(SCLM)in different *** weak enriched mafic rocks in Comei LIP form one special rock group and most likely suggest large scale hot mantle plume-continental lithosphere *** process may lead to strong modification of the Tethyan Himalaya lithosphere in the Early Cretaceous.

Coniopteris simplex is a common component in many Jurassic ***,due to morphological variations in sterile fronds and incomplete preservation of reproductive organs,its classification has been controversial for a long ***,we present new material collected from the Middle Jurassic Yan’an Formation in the Ordos Basin,Inner *** new material reveals important morphological characters,including hemi-dimorphic fronds,two forms of sterile pinnae,short-stalked sori and sporangia on fertile fronds,annulus of sporangium composed of about 30 cells,in situ rounded triangular spores with protruded suture,and the lips of trilete laesura encircled by one or two rows of small *** on these observations,we emended the diagnosis of this common *** spatio-temporal distribution of Coniopteris simplex shows that the iconic species was restricted to the paleolatitudes ranging from 19.5°N to 48.9°N in the Northern Hemisphere during the Early—Late Jurassic,mainly distributed in the tropical to paratropical zones,and the paleolongitude ranging from 9.6°E to 129.3°E,which may be limited by the opening of the Viking Corridor and the splitting of the Central Atlantic Ocean.

Sulfate reduction is an essential metabolism that maintains biogeochemical cycles in marine and terrestrial *** reducers are exclusively prokaryotic,phylogenetically diverse,and may have evolved early in Earth’s ***,their origin is elusive and unequivocal fossils are *** we report a new microfossil,Qingjiangonema cambria,from518-million-year-old black shales that yield the Qingjiang *** is a long filamentous form comprising hundreds of cells filled by equimorphic and equidimensional pyrite microcrystals with a light sulfur isotope *** lines of evidence indicate Qingjiangonema was a sulfate-reducing bacterium that exhibits similar patterns of cell organization to filamentous forms within the phylum Desulfobacterota,including the sulfate-reducing Desulfonema and sulfide-oxidizing cable *** analyses confirm separate,independent origins of multicellularity in Desulfonema and in cable *** clock analyses infer that the Desulfobacterota,which encompass a majority of sulfate-reducing taxa,diverged~2.41 billion years ago during the Paleoproterozoic Great Oxygenation Event,while cable bacteria diverged~0.56 billion years ago during or immediately after the Neoproterozoic Oxygenation *** together,we interpret Qingjiangonema as a multicellular sulfate-reducing microfossil and propose that cable bacteria evolved from a multicellular filamentous sulfate-reducing *** infer that the diversification of the Desulfobacterota and the origin of cable bacteria may have been responses to oxygenation events in Earth’s history.

Rapid urbanization has led to changes in the urban land surface thermal ***,there are still much unknown about the urban land surface thermal conditions in permafrost *** is a unique geological environment,changes in the urban land surface thermal environment may trigger geological disasters caused by permafrost *** study utilized remote sensing data and geographic de-tectors to identify the dynamic changes in land surface temperature(LST)and land use/land cover(LU/LC)in Yakutsk,as well as the potential factors contributing to LST *** 1992 and 2020,the built-up area in Yakutsk increased by 36%,and the annual average LST in Yakutsk has risen by 6.67℃,accompanied by an expansion of high-temperature *** ongoing greening efforts,rapid urbanization poses a threat to these green *** in the normalized difference built-up index(NDBI)and land use transfer(LDT)were identified as the primary drivers of urban LST *** integrating geographic detector technology and artificial neural network models,we optimized the selection of input factors in the prediction model and used it to explore the future changes in LST in *** average LST in Yakutsk is expected to reach 23.4℃ and 25.1℃ in 2030 and 2040,respectively,with a further increase in high-temperature *** study provides a reference for ecological,hydrological,and geological assessments of cities in permafrost regions.

Geochronology and geochemistry of Daerlong granitic complex in Linkou area， eastern Heilongjiang：Petrogenesis and tectonic implications

The Daerlong granitic complex in Linkou area is located at the convergence position of the Jiamusi and Songliao blocks. A systematic study of field geology， petrography， zircon U-Pb dating and whole-rock major and trace elements has been conducted for the Daerlong granitic complex， aiming to determine its formation age， petrogenesis and tectonic setting， and further constrain the nature and evolution of the Mudanjiang Ocean. Field and petrographic observations show that the Daerlong granitic complex mainly consists of three rock types from old to young， i.e.， biotite granodiorite， syenogranite and monzogranite. Geochemical data suggest that all the types of granitoids are high in silicon， rich in potassium， moderate in aluminum (A/CNK=0.94-1.10)， poor in iron and magnesium， rich in LILEs and depleted in HFSEs， belonging to the weakly peraluminous high-K calc-alkaline series. Combined with mineral assemblages and geochemical discrimination diagrams， it can be determined that the studied granitoids are of igneous crust-derived I-type origin， which underwent strong fractional crystallization and crystal accumulation during magmatic evolution. Zircon LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating results show that the different types of granitoids were emplaced in a wide age range from 301 to 240 Ma， indicating a long-lived Late Carboniferous to Middle Triassic granitic magmatism occurred in the western Jiamusi Block. The Daerlong granitoids have similar geochemical characteristics of subduction-related igneous rocks. Considering the spatial and temporal distribution of Late Paleozoic to Early Mesozoic igneous rocks within eastern Heilongjiang Province， it is concluded that the Daerlong granitic complex was formed in an active continental margin setting rather than a continental rift environment. The results suggest that the Mudanjiang Ocean might not be a limited ocean evolved from the rifting of the unified Jiamusi-Songnen microcontinent.

The Hot Dry Rock(HDR)is considered as a clean and renewable energy,poised to significantly contribute to the global energy decarbonization *** HDR projects worldwide have accumulated valuable experience in efficient drilling and completion,reservoir construction,and fracture *** 2019,China Geological Survey(CGS)initiated a demonstration project of HDR exploration and production in the Gonghe Basin,aiming to overcome the setbacks faced by HDR *** the ensuing four years,the Gonghe HDR project achieved the first power generation in 2021,followed by the second power generation test in *** establishing the primary well group in the initial phase,two directional wells and one branch well were *** progress was made in successfully constructing the targeted reservoir,realizing inter-well connectivity,power generation and grid connection,implementing of the real-time micro-seismic monitoring.A closed-loop technical validation of the HDR exploration and production was ***,many technical challenges remain in the process of HDR industrialization,such as reservoir fracture network characterization,efficient drilling and completion,multiple fracturing treatment,continuous injection and production,as well as mitigation of induced seismicity and numerical simulation technology.

Model-based assessment of muscle forces and strain distribution in the femur of Cabot’s Tragopans(Tragopan caboti)

The hindlimbs play a crucial role in bird locomotion,making the biomechanical properties of the musculoskeletal system in these limbs a focal point for researchers studying avian ***,a comprehensive analysis of the mechanical performance within the long bones of hindlimbs during locomotion remains *** the present study,the strain and deformation of the femur of Cabot’s Tragopans(Tragopan caboti)were *** employed inverse simulation to calculate the force and moment of femoral muscles during mid-stance terrestrial locomotion and conducted finite element analysis to calculate femoral *** showed that during mid-stance,the femur experiences combined deformation primarily characterized by torsion,bending,and *** emphasises the importance of considering the influence of varying loads on bone adaptation when investigating bone form-function *** were found to play a significant role in offsetting joint loads on the femur,subsequently reducing the deformation and overall strain on the *** reduction enhances femoral safety during locomotion,allowing birds to meet mechanical demands while maintaining a lightweight bone ***,the *** caudalis significantly reduces torsional deformation of the proximal femur,protecting the vulnerable femoral neck from high fracture risk induced by rotation *** that the femur torsion during terrestrial locomotion in birds is associated with changes in hindlimb posture due to their adaptation to flight,the characteristics of *** caudalis may provide insight into the locomotor evolution of theropods and the origin of avian flight.

We report the extraordinarily preserved euarthropod Sidneyia minor *** the Cambrian Stage 3 Xiaoshiba Lagerst?tte in Yunnan,South *** far this is the earliest occurrence of the *** with other species of Sidneyia,the new taxon shares similar features such as a crescent-shaped head shield with paired lateral notches for stalked eyes,but more significantly and new,is the presence of three pairs of post-antennal appendages beneath the head shield identified by micro-CT *** conclude that Sidneyia is a sister group to other members of Vicissicaudata within the diverse radiation of Artiopoda.
