GPU-accelerated OCT imaging: real-time data processing and artifact suppression for enhanced monitoring of 3d bioprinted tissues and vascular-like networks

Optical coherence tomography(OCT)imaging technology has significant advantages in in situ and noninvasive monitoring of biological ***,it still faces the following challenges:including data processing speed,image quality,and improvements in three-dimensional(3d)visualization *** technology,especially functional imaging techniques like optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA),requires a long acquisition time and a large data *** the substantial increase in the acquisition speed of swept source optical coherence tomography(SS-OCT),it still poses significant challenges for data ***,during in situ acquisition,image artifacts resulting from interface reflections or strong reflections from biological tissues and culturing containers present obstacles to data visualization and further ***,a customized frequency domainfilter with anti-banding suppression parameters was designed to suppress artifact ***,this study proposed a graphics processing unit(GPU)-based real-time data processing pipeline for SS-OCT,achieving a measured line-process rate of 800 kHz for 3d fast and high-quality data ***,a GPU-based realtime data processing for CC-OCTA was integrated to acquire dynamic ***,a vascular-like network chip was prepared using extrusion-based 3d printing and sacrificial materials,with sacrificial material being printed at the desired vascular network locations and then removed to form the vascular-like *** imaging technology was used to monitor the progression of sacrificial material removal and vascular-like network ***,GPU-based OCT enables real-time processing and visualization with artifact suppression,making it particularly suitable for in situ noninvasive longitudinal monitoring of 3d bioprinting tissue and vascular-like networks in microfluidic chips.

Nano-computed tomography(Nano-CT)is an emerging,high-resolution imaging ***,due to their low-light properties,tabletop Nano-CT has to be scanned under long exposure conditions,which the scanning process is *** 3d reconstruction data,this paper proposed a lightweight 3d noise reduction method for desktop-level Nano-CT called AAd-resNet(Axial Attention deNoise resNet).The network is framed by theU-net *** encoder and decoder are incorporated with the proposed 3d axial attention mechanism and residual dense *** layer of the residual dense block can directly access the features of the previous layer,which reduces the redundancy of parameters and improves the efficiency of network *** 3d axial attention mechanism enhances the correlation between 3d information in the training process and captures the long-distance *** can improve the noise reduction effect and avoid the loss of image structure *** results show that the network can effectively improve the image quality of a 0.1-s exposure scan to a level close to a 3-s exposure,significantly shortening the sample scanning time.

Superior synergistic oxidation resistance of medium-entropy carbide ceramic powders rather than multi-phase carbide ceramic powders

To date,some questions about medium-entropy carbide ceramics and the corresponding multi-phase carbide ceramics with the same cations and proportions remain *** oxidation behavior,do both have synergistic oxidation abilities and what role does entropy stabilization play in medium-entropy carbides?In this work,the oxidation behaviors of HfC-ZrC-TiC multi-phase carbide(HZT-MPC)and(Hf_(1/3)Zr_(1/3)Ti_(1/3))C medium-entropy carbide(HZT-MEC)powders were *** thermogravimetry(TG)oxidation,the TG curve of HZT-MPC had a bimodal ***"preferential oxidation"of HfC/ZrC occurred within HZT-MPC,followed by the formation of multi-phase oxides(HfO_(2),ZrO_(2),and TiO_(2)).The uneven compositional distribution slowed their solid solution reactions to form Ti-doped(Hf,Zr)O_(2) and(Hf,Zr)TiO_(4).The TG curve of HZT-MEC had a single peak.A uniform compositional distribution at the atomic scale promoted the rapid interdiffusion of oxides,forming Ti-doped(Hf,Zr)O_(2) and(Hf,Zr)TiO_(4) without ZrO_(2),HfO_(2),and TiO_(2) after TG ***,HZT-MEC had a higher onset oxidation temperature(To;470℃)than did HZT-MPC(430℃),and the TG single peak of HZT-MEC was between the TG bimodal peaks of ***,HZT-MEC showed superior oxidation resistance compared to HZT-MPC,which was attributed to the entropy stabilization effect of HZT-MEC suppressing the"preferential oxidation"of HfC/ZrC and the"delayed oxidation"of TiC,promoting the synergistic oxidation ability of multiple principal elements.

Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of TiB-Containing Al–Zn Binary Alloys

The microstructure and mechanical properties of newly developed Al-35Zn cast alloys with TiB refiner addition were evaluated by X-ray diffractometry, optical microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive spectrometry. The microstructure of these alloys featured α-Al den- drites surrounded by AI-Zn （α ＋ rI） eutectic structures. After the addition of TiB refiner, the alloy grain sizes decreased, and its morphology abruptly changed from dendritic to equiaxed grains. Such an im- proved microstructure of the modified alloys was accompanied by a significant increase in the tensile strength and elongation percentage compared to those of the AI-Zn or Zn-Al-based alloys. The results showed that with the increase of TiB content up to 0.05%, the morphology of α-Al dendrites and α ＋ T1 phases changed from coarse dendrite and lamellar structures into independent and fine ones. Based on these results, the effect of TiB refiner addition on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the AI-35Zn binary alloys was investigated.

In order to improve target localization precision,accuracy,execution efficiency,and application range of the unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)based on scene matching,a ground target localization method for unmanned aerial vehicle based on scene matching(GTLUAVSM)is *** sugges-ted approach entails completing scene matching through a feature matching ***,multi-sensor registration is optimized by robust estimation based on homologous ***,basemap generation and model solution are utilized to improve basemap correspondence and accom-plish aerial image *** evidence and experimental verification demonstrate that GTLUAVSM can improve localization accuracy,speed,and precision while minimizing reliance on task equipment.

role of microbiota-gut-brain axis in neurodegenerative diseases and the potential of microbiome-targeted d ietary strategies: A review of current evidence and future perspective

Neurodegenerative diseases (Nds)， mainly including Alzheimer’s disease， Parkinson’s disease， and Multiple sclerosis， represent a major public health challenge with the steady increase of aging population worldwide. Emerging evidence has revealed the key role of the microbiota-gut-brain axis in the pathogenesis of Nds. diet is one of the most important environmental factors shaping the structure and function of gut microbiota. Manipulating the gut microbiota through specific diet patterns may represent a promising approach for Nds prevention. In this review， we highlight gut microbiota variations in Nds， outline several crucial signaling pathways of the gut-brain communication， and discuss the interplay of nutrients-microbes and biological effect of diet-derived microbial metabolites on neural physiology. In particular， we summarized the current knowledge about the application of dietary patterns in Nds to prevent disease progression via the modulation of the gut microbiota. Our study provides novel insights on the diet-microbiota-gut-brain axis in neurodegenerative disorders and highlights the potential of developing microbiome-targeted personalized dietary intervention for Nds management.

Polymer-encapsulated metal complex catalysts:An emerging and efficient platform for electrochemical CO_(2) reduction

Over the past decade,electrocatalytic reduction of CO_(2)has gained substantial ***,hardly any of the previous reviews have focused on the systematic discussion of polymer-molecular catalyst composites as an emerging system for the electrochemical transformation of CO_(2)to value-added *** this review,we first give a brief overview of the general features of solid-state and molecular catalysts,and then advance the discussion to polymer-catalyst composite systems,with particular emphasis on polymer-encapsulated molecular catalysts,where the coordination environment surrounding molecular catalysts can be modified via polymer encapsulation to promote the overall performance of CO_(2)*** elucidation of the possible reaction mechanisms of this emerging electrocat-alytic system along with proposed optimization strategies is also summarized and discussed based on recently published reports,followed by the challenges and prospects of their industrial applications at the end of this *** this review,we hope the audience can gain a comprehensive understanding of the electrocatalytic mechanism of the coordinating polymers and valuable insights into engineering the microenvironment surrounding the metal complexes for potential future research directions.

Mycorrhizal fungi mitigate nitrogen losses of an experimental grassland by facilitating plant uptake and soil microbial immobilization

Nitrogen(N)is one of the most limited nutrients of terrestrial ecosystems,whose losses are prevented in tightly coupled cycles in finely tuned *** change-induced N enrichment through atmospheric deposition and application of vast amounts of fertilizer are now challenging the terrestrial N *** mycorrhizal fungi(AMF)are known drivers of plant-soil nutrient fluxes,but a comprehensive assessment of AMF involvement in N cycling under global change is still ***,we simulated N enrichment by fertilization(low/high)in experimental grassland microcosms under greenhouse conditions in the presence or absence of AMF and continuously monitored different N pathways over nine *** found that high N enrichment by fertilization decreased the relative abundance of legumes and the plant species dominating the plant community changed from grasses to forbs in the presence of AMF,based on aboveground *** presence of AMF always maintained plant N:phosphorus(P)ratios between 14 and 16,no matter how the soil N availability *** in plant N:P ratios due to the increased plant N and P uptake might thus be a primary pathway of AMF altering plant community ***,we constructed a comprehensive picture of AMF’s role in N cycling,highlighting that AMF reduced N losses primarily by mitigating N leaching,while N_(2)O emissions played a marginal *** mycorrhizal fungi reduced N_(2)O emissions directly through the promotion of N_(2)O-consuming *** underlying mechanism for reducing N leaching is mainly the AMF-mediated improved nutrient uptake and AMF-associated microbial *** results indicate that synergies between AMF and other soil microorganisms cannot be ignored in N cycling and that the integral role of AMF in N cycling terrestrial ecosystems can buffer the upcoming global changes.

Arc and droplet Behaviors in Horizontal Short-Arc Pulsed Gas Metal Arc Welding of 9%Ni Steel with ErNiCrMo-3 Welding Wire

Short-arc pulsed gas metal arc welding(P-GMAW)was used to solve the dificulties of molten pool spreading and droplet transfer of Ni-based welding *** of short-circuit current was used to reduce *** length stabilizer was used to acquire a proper and stable arc length maintained at the critical position where short circuit starts to ***-arc P-GMAW with or without arc length stabilizer was *** droplet transfer,arc behaviors and weld bead profiles were investigated and compared based on the high-speed photography and observation of weld *** the arc length stabilizer was deactivated,the arc length was unstable and too *** droplet transfer mode was mainly short circuit partial transfer,with only a small part of the droplet transferred into the molten pool,with the characteristics of no obvious necking,a few spatters,small droplet impact,long short circuit duration and high short-circuit *** was also a small proportion of short circuit complete transfer with obvious necking,larger droplet impact,shorter short-circuit duration and lower short-circuit *** arc length stabilizer,droplet transfer modes were short circuit complete transfer and spray *** spray transfer had the largest droplet impact,no short circuit and no *** the arc length stabilizer activated,a deep penetration,a high penetration ratio,a small reinforcement and a large reinforcement factor were *** provides an innovative method to solve the difficulties of droplet transfer and molten pool spreading and eliminate the incomplete fusion in the GMAW of 9%Ni steel with nickel-based alloy welding wire.

Investigation of conformational changes of cathepsin B as a feasibility assessment for NaCl reduction in Jinhua ham

To regulate the sodium chloride content in Jinhua ham， the impact of NaCl on the activity and conformation of cathepsin B was investigated using spectroscopy and computational methods. The results showed that the activity of cathepsin B decreased with an increase in Na+cation content and temperature. Additionally， decreased α-helix content and increased β-sheet content were observed. The increase in sulfhydryl group content was attributed to the breaking of original disulfide bonds in the molecular structure or the release of embedded groups. Furthermore， the surface hydrophobicity gradually declined， which was consistent with the analysis of endogenous fluorescence spectroscopy. At the molecular level， the number of hydrogen bonds formed in NaCl-treated samples decreased， and the interactions between the hydrogen bonding were less powerful， which caused instability in the binding of the protein and substrate. The conformation of cathepsin B accurately characterized its activity， and the structural changes had a macroscopic effect on the decrease in protease activity.
