Impurity formation mechanism of silicon carbide crystals smelted by Acheson process

In order to further promote the application of SiC refractories in modern steel metallurgy,the occurrence forms and formation mechanism of impurities in SiC crystals smelted by Acheson process were *** techniques of inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry,X-ray diffraction,and scanning electron microscopy were combined to examine the types and occurrence forms of impurities in smelted SiC *** results showed that the main impurities in the SiC are free Si,free C,oxides(CaO·Al_(2)O_(3.·2SiO_(2),3.l_(2)O_(3.·2SiO_(2),CaO·SiO_(2) and SiO_(2))and alloy phases(Fe_(x)Si_(y),Fe_(x)Si_(y)Ti_(z) and Fe_(x)Al_(y)Si_(z)).The formation process of impurities during the smelting of SiC can be described as follows:At high temperature,the SiO_(2) and Fe,Ti related oxide impurities present in the raw materials are reduced to Si,Fe,and Ti metal *** the reduction process,the free Si,Fe_(x)Si_(y) and Fe_(x)Si_(y)Ti_(z) are precipitated from the melt during *** Si primarily exists in aggregated form within the SiC crystal,while the alloy phase is predominantly found at the interface between SiC and free Si,with Fe_(x)Si_(y)Ti_(z) embedded within *** the end of the cooling process,other impurity oxides such as Al_(2)O_(3.,CaO,and some unreduced SiO_(2) solidify to form calcium-aluminum-silicate glass phases,predominantly located between SiC *** remaining C from the reaction is mainly dispersed as free C within the SiC crystal and at the interface between SiC and free Si.

Metal-air battery is an environmental friendly energy storage system with unique open ***(Mg)and its alloys have been extensively attempted as anodes for air batteries due to high theoretical energy density,low cost,and ***,the study on Mg-air battery(MAB)is still at the laboratory level currently,mainly owing to the low anodic efficiency caused by the poor corrosion *** order to reduce corrosion losses and achieve optimal utilization efficiency of Mg anode,the design strategies are reviewed from microstructure ***,the corrosion behaviors have been discussed,especially the negative difference effect derived by hydrogen *** attention is given to the effect of anode micro-structures on the MAB,which includes grain size,grain orientation,second phases,crystal structure,twins,and *** further improvement,the discharge performance,long period stacking ordered phase and its enhancing effect are ***,given the current debates over Mg dendrites,the potential risk,the impact on discharge,and the elimination strategies are *** control and single crystal would be promising ways for MAB anode.

Selective sintering of magnesia-calcia materials by utilizing hot spots during induction sintering process

Magnesia-calcia refractories are widely used in the production process of clean steel due to their excellent high-tem-perature stability,slag resistance and ability to purify molten ***,there are still problems such as difficult sintering and easy ***-calcia materials with various calcium oxide contents were prepared by using induction sintering,and the sintering property combined with the hydration resistance of the materials was *** experimental results showed that the magnesia-calcia materials prepared under induction field had higher density,microhardness and hydration *** particular,the relative density of induction sintered magnesia-calcia materials with 50 mo1%CaO was greater than 98%,and the average grain size of CaO was 4.56μm,which was much larger than that of traditional sintered *** order to clarify the densification and microstructure evolution mechanism of the magnesia-calcia materials,the changes in temperature and magnetic field throughout the sintering process were analyzed by using finite element *** results showed that the larger heating rate and higher sintering temperature under the induction sintering mode were beneficial to the rapid *** addition,the hot spots generated within the material due to the difference in high-temperature electric conductivity between MgO and CaO were the critical factor to realize selective sintering in MgO-CaO system,which provides a novel pathway to solve the problem of difficult sintering and control the microstructure of high-temperature composite material used in the field of high-purity steel smelting.

CFD-DEM study on the synergistic effect of coke consumption and particle dynamics in the blast furnace raceway

In this study,the gas-solid flow process in the blast furnace raceway is numerically simulated using coupled computational fluid dynamics and the discrete element method(CFD-DEM).The coke reaction kinetics data are imported into the DEM model to reproduce the consumption process of each coke *** effects of inlet gas velocity and angle on the morphology of the raceway,coke consumption rate,coke bed temperature,and particle size distribution in the blast process are systematically investigated and *** results show that the consumption of coke particles promotes the formation of raceways during the blast *** the same time,a coke mixture layer is produced at the edge of the *** higher the inlet gas velocity,the thicker the coke mixture layer in the middle and upper parts of the raceway region,and the larger the proportion of small particles in the coke mixture *** effect of the inlet gas angle on the raceway region is less than the inlet gas ***,with the increase in the inlet gas angle,the high-temperature region of the coke bed extends downward gradually,which is conducive to activating the hearth.

The ferroelectric semiconductor material PbTiO3.xhibits remarkable spontaneous polarization and photoelectric properties, positioning it as a promising polar photocatalyst. The internal electric field of ferroelectrics can separate photocarriers and enhance the catalytic performance of photocatalysts. Moreover, when combined with other semiconductors, PbTiO3.ontributes to the construction of a depolarization field, extending the catalytic applications of PbTiO3.atalysts. PbTiO3.xhibits optical absorption, semiconductor, and piezoelectric properties. Its piezoelectric polarization field enhances charge separation, modulates band structure, surface charge conduction, and heterojunction interface charge conduction,thereby amplifying photocatalytic activity. This paper begins by examining the structure, properties, and preparation methods of PbTiO3. Subsequently, it delves into the optimization of PbTiO3.s structure and performance,exploring applications in photocatalysis as a ferroelectric photocatalyst. Emphasis is placed on the detailed discussion of surface modification, heterostructure formation, and ferroelectric polarization of PbTiO3.erroelectrics. These aspects are thoroughly explored for their role in regulating activity and optimizing the performance of photocatalysis and photopiezoelectric catalysis. In conclusion, the paper addresses the current research status of PbTiO3.erroelectric materials and highlights the challenges that lie *** intention is to provide valuable references for the ongoing research in PbTiO3.erroelectric materials.

To comprehensively utilize the low-iron high-vanadium-titanium magnetite,a new method of vortex smelting reduction of vanadium-titanium magnetite was proposed,and the enrichment and reconstitution regularity of Ti-bearing phases in the slag was investigated through X-ray fluorescence spectrometry,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction analysis,and optical *** phase diagram revealed that the preferential crystallization of MgTi_(2)O_(5) can be achieved by adjusting the CaO,MgO,and TiO_(2) contents of *** predominant Ti-bearing phases in the slag obtained from the reduction process are MgxTi_(3.x)O_(5)(0≤x≤1)and CaTiO_(3..FeTiO_(3. is present at carbon-iron ratio(CR)=1.3.while MgTi_(2)O4 and TiC are formed at CR=*** enrichment of TiO_(2) in the slag increases first and then decreases as the CR increases,and at CR=1.1,the enrichment of TiO_(2) in the slag reaches 51.3.wt.%.Additionally,the concentrations of MgxTi_(3.x)O_(5)(0≤x≤1)and CaTiO_(3. in the slag,along with the grain width of MgxTi_(3.x)O_(5)(0≤x≤1),decrease with the increase in CR.

A 2D axisymmetric numerical model was established to investigate the variations of molten pool with different melt rates during the vacuum arc remelting of 8Cr4Mo4V high-strength steel,and the ingot growth was simulated by dynamic mesh *** results show that as the ingot grows,the molten pool profile changes from shallow and flat to V-shaped,and both the molten pool depth and the mushy width ***,the variation of both the molten pool shape and the mushy width melt rate is clarified by the thermal equilibrium *** melt rate increases,both the molten pool depth and the mushy width *** is caused by the increment in sensible heat stored in the ingot due to the limitation of the cooling capacity of the *** nonlinear increment in sensible heat leads to a nonlinear increase in the mushy *** addition,as melt rate increases,the local solidification time(LST)of ingot decreases obviously at first and then *** melt rate is controlled in a suitable range,LST is the lowest and the secondary dendrite arm spacing of the ingot is the smallest,which can effectively improve the compactness degree of 8Cr4Mo4V high-strength steel.
