Phase-field simulation of solidification dendritic segregation in Ti-45Al alloy

The microstructures and mechanical properties of Ti Al alloys are directly linked to micro-segregation which cannot be avoided during solidification. So a thorough understanding of the micro-segregation should be a great help to further enhance the mechanical properties of the cast products. Theoretical analysis and experiments have been used to predict the micro-segregation, but it is very difficult to observe and determine the dendritic segregation in the micro region. Phase-field method has been employed for the simulation of dendritic growth. However, due to the complicated quasi-sub regular solution model for Ti-45Al(at.%) alloy, the classic phase-field models have difficulty to deal with the free energy. In this work, a phase-field model by linking thermodynamic calculation was used to simulate solidification dendritic segregation of Ti-45 Al alloy for Liquid→Liquid+β(Ti). The free energies of solid phase and liquid phase for Ti-45 Al alloy were calculated by Thermo-Calc and then coupled with the phase-field equations. The simulation results show the dendritic morphology and Al content variations between liquid and growing solid phase for Ti-45 Al alloy. With the growth of the β(Ti), dendritic segregation is formed in the liquid and solid phases due to the solute partitioning and rejection into the liquid. As a result, the dendrite arms are depleted of Al element, while the inter-dendrites are enriched. The dendritic tip growth velocity decreases with the progress of solidification, whereas the segregation ratio increases.

Techniques for dimensionality reduction have attracted much attention in computer vision and pattern recognition. However, for the supervised or unsupervised case, the methods combining regression analysis and spectral graph analysis do not consider the global structure of the subspace; For semi-supervised case,how to use the unlabeled samples more effectively is still an open problem. In this paper, we propose the methods by Low-rank regression analysis(LRRA) to deal with these problems. For supervised or unsupervised dimensionality reduction, combining spectral graph analysis and LRRA can make a global constraint on the subspace. For semi-supervised dimensionality reduction, the proposed method incorporating LRRA can exploit the unlabeled samples more effectively. The experimental results show the effectiveness of our methods.

The rock mass engineering system （RMES） basically consists ofrock mass engineering （RME）, water system and surroundingecological environments, etc. The RMES is characterized by nonlinearity,occurrence of chaos and self-organization （Tazaka, 1998;Tsuda, 1998; Kishida, 2000）. From construction to abandonmentof RME, the RMES will experience four stages, i.e. initial phase,development phase, declining phase and failure phase. In thiscircumstance, the RMES boundary conditions, structural safetyand surrounding environments are varied at each phase, so arethe evolution characteristics and disasters （Wang et al., 2014）.

Teeth affect not only oral problems but also facial *** China,there are few reports about the influence of the third molars on the craniofacial morphology of Han *** in vivo imaging software,3D reconstruction of craniofacial CTs were performed on 32 Chinese Han youths without mandibular third molars and 25 Chinese Han youth with full mandibular third *** morphology of their mandible and mandibular tissue was measured to identify *** the morphological characteristics of hard tissues,except for∠ANB,people with a full eruption of the mandibular third molars had statistically significantly larger angle indicators than people without the eruption of the third *** soft tissue indicators also showed statistically significant discrepancies in terms of morphological facial height,mouth to gnathion distance,lip height,and mouth *** most influential index for mandibular third molars was length of symphysis,followed by the four indicators of soft tissue and mandible length and *** facial height,mouth to gnathion distance,lip height,and height of symphysis were moderately *** experimental results show that among Han youth in North China,the third molar eruption has a widespread influence on mandibular morphology,especially in angle,length,and height *** also has a certain influence on maxillofacial soft tissue *** results can be applied to future clinical risk assessment of the wisdom teeth and forensic personal identification of the cranial and maxillofacial region.

Combining CLUE-S and SWAT Models to Forecast Land Use Change and Non-point Source Pollution Impact at a Watershed Scale in liaoning Province, China

Non-point source(NPS) pollution has become a major source of water pollution. A combination of models would provide the necessary direction and approaches designed to control NPS pollution through land use planning. In this study, NPS pollution load was simulated in urban planning, historic trends and ecological protection land use scenarios based on the Conversion of Land Use and its Effect at Small regional extent(CLUE-S) and Soil and Water Assessment Tool(SWAT) models applied to Hunhe-Taizi River Watershed, liaoning Province, China. Total nitrogen(TN) and total phosphorus(TP) were chosen as NPS pollution indices. The results of models validation showed that CLUE-S and SWAT models were suitable in the study area. NPS pollution mainly came from dry farmland, paddy, rural and urban areas. The spatial distribution of TN and TP exhibited the same trend in 57 sub-catchments. The TN and TP had the highest NPS pollution load in the western and central plains, which concentrated the urban area and farm land. The NPS pollution load would increase in the urban planning and historic trends scenarios, and would be even higher in the urban planning scenario. However, the NPS pollution load decreased in the ecological protection scenario. The differences observed in the three scenarios indicated that land use had a degree of impact on NPS pollution, which showed that scientific and ecologically sound construction could effectively reduce the NPS pollution load in a watershed. This study provides a scientific method for conducting NPS pollution research at the watershed scale, a scientific basis for non-point source pollution control, and a reference for related policy making.

In China,the northeastern region has preserved many valuable modern built heritage buildings,which are undergoing difficult exploratory protection during the industrial and urbanisation *** Dalian city as a case study,this article retraces the history of Dalian’s opening up and colonial management from the perspective of urban planning and historic district protection and management *** article sorts out the influence of national and local institutional policies on Dalian’s urban construction and development to analyse the past evolution,current problems and internal causes of the renovation and protection of Dalian’s typical historic *** influence is mainly reflected in the lack of protection and damage done to unofficial heritage,the disconnection between historic districts and the surrounding environments and urban textures,and the Chinese-style transformation and economic decline of exotic *** paper calls for attention to and the rapid clarification of the built heritage list,the improvement of planning and protection systems and related supporting policies,and a focus on the protection of the authenticity of colonial *** paper provides strategic guidance for improving the protection of historic districts in Dalian in Northeast China and hopes to serve as a reference for the protection of built heritage in other nonfamous historic and cultural cities.
