Pulsed dynamic electrolysis enhanced PEMWE hydrogen production:Revealing the effects of pulsed electric fields on protons mass transport and hydrogen bubble escape

The transition of hydrogen sourcing from carbon-intensive to water-based methodologies is underway,with renewable energy-powered proton exchange membrane water electrolysis （PEMWE） emerging as the preeminent pathway for hydrogen *** remarkable advancements in this field,co.fronting the sluggish electrochemical kinetics and inherent high-energy co.sumption arising from deteriorated mass transport within PEMWE systems remains a formidable *** impediment stems primarily from the hindered protons mass transfer and the untimely hydrogen bubbles *** address these challenges,we harness the inherent variability of electrical energy and introduce an innovative pulsed dynamic water electrolysis *** to co.stant voltage electrolysis (hydrogen production rate:51.6 m L h-1,energy co.sumption:5.37 kWh Nm-3H2),this strategy (hydrogen production rate:66 m L h-1,energy co.sumption:3.83 kWh Nm-3H2) increases the hydrogen production rate by approximately 27%and reduces the energy co.sumption by about 28%.Furthermore,we demonstrate the practicality of this system by integrating it with an off-grid photovoltaic （PV） system designed for outdoor operation,successfully driving a hydrogen production current of up to 500 mA under an average voltage of approximately 2 *** co.bined results of in-situ characterization and finite element analysis reveal the performance enhancement mechanism:pulsed dynamic electrolysis （PDE） dramatically accelerates the enrichment of protons at the electrode/solution interface and facilitates the release of bubbles on the electrode *** such,PDE-enhanced PEMWE represents a synergistic advancement,co.currently enhancing both the hydrogen generation reaction and associated transport *** promising technology not only redefines the landscape of electrolysis-based hydrogen production but also holds immense potential for broadening its application across a diverse spectrum of electrocatalytic endeavors.

Improvement of co.d Recycled Mixture Performance Based on Improved Density Test Method and RAP Characteristics

The first metagenome of activated sludge from full-scale anaerobic/anoxic/oxic(A2O) nitrogen and phosphorus removal reactor using Illumina sequencing

The anaerobic/anoxic/oxic（A2O） process is globally one of the widely used biological sewage treatment processes. This is the first report of a metagenomic analysis using Illumina sequencing of full-scale A2O sludge from a municipal sewage treatment *** more than 530,000 clean reads from different taxa and metabolic categories, the metagenome results allow us to gain insight into the functioning of the biological co.munity of the A2O sludge. There are 51 phyla and nearly 900 genera identified from the A2O activated sludge eco.ystem. Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Nitrospirae and Chloroflexi are predominant phyla in the activated sludge, suggesting that these organisms play key roles in the biodegradation processes in the A2O sewage treatment ***, Thauera, Dechloromonas and Ignavibacterium, which have abilities to metabolize nitrogen and aromatic co.pounds, are most prevalent genera. The percent of nitrogen and phosphorus metabolism in the A2O sludge is 2.72% and 1.48%, respectively. In the current A2O sludge, the proportion of Candidatus Accumulibacter is 1.37%, which is several times more than that reported in a recent study of A2O sludge. Among the four processes of nitrogen metabolism, denitrification related genes had the highest number of sequences（76.74%）, followed by ammonification（15.77%）, nitrogen fixation（3.88%） and nitrification（3.61%）. In phylum Planctomycetes, four genera（Planctomyces, Pirellula, Gemmata and Singulisphaera） are included in the top 30 abundant genera, suggesting the key role of ANAMMOX in nitrogen metabolism in the A2O sludge.

Cu-Mn co.doped CeO_(2) photocatalyst was successfully synthesized by the sol-gel method to assess its capability in degrading *** and TEM results showed that Cu and Mn were successfully co.doped into CeO_(2) without forming heterostructure,XPS and photoelectrochemical results revealed that Mn ions doping amplified the generation of photo-induced charge carriers,while Cu ions doping significantly facilitated the interfacial charge transfer ***,the optimized Cu3Mn2CeO_(2) nanoparticles exhibited the highest TC removal efficiency,achieved a rate of 78.18%and maintained a stable cycling performance.

Flocculation co.trol study based on fractal theory

A study on flocculation co.trol based on fractal theory was carried out. Optimization test of chemical co.gulant dosage co.firmed that the fractal dimension co.ld reflect the flocculation degree and settling characteristics of aggregates and the good co.relation with the turbidity of settled effluent. So that the fractal dimension can be used as the major parameter for floc-culation system co.trol and achieve self-acting adjustment of chemical co.gulant dosage. The fractal dimension flocculation co.trol system was used for further study carried out on the effects of various flocculation parameters, among which are the dependency relationship among aggregates fractal dimension, chemical co.gulant dosage, and turbidity of settled effluent under the co.ditions of variable water quality and quantity. And basic experimental data were obtained for establishing the chemical co.gulant dosage co.trol model mainly based on aggregates fractal dimension.

Parallel co.putation of seismic analysis of high arch dam

Parallel co.putation programs are developed for three-dimensional meso-mechanics analysis of fully-graded dam co.crete and seismic response analysis of high arch dams （ADs）, based on the Parallel Finite Element Program Generator （PFEPG）. The co.putational algorithms of the numerical simulation of the meso-structure of co.crete specimens were studied. Taking into acco.nt damage evolution, static preload, strain rate effect, and the heterogeneity of the meso-structure of dam co.crete, the fracture processes of damage evolution and co.figuration of the cracks can be directly simulated. In the seismic response analysis of ADs, all the following factors are involved, such as the nonlinear co.tact due to the opening and slipping of the co.traction joints, energy dispersion of the far-field foundation, dynamic interactions of the dam-foundation- reservoir system, and the co.bining effects of seismic action with all static loads. The co.rectness, reliability and efficiency of the two parallel co.putational programs are verified with practical illustrations.

Performance of pond–wetland co.plexes as a preliminary processor of drinking water sources

Shijiuyang co.structed Wetland（110 hm^2） is a drinking water source treatment wetland with primary structural units of ponds and plant-bed/ditch systems. The wetland can process about 250,000 tonnes of source water in the Xincheng River every day and supplies raw water for Shijiuyang Drinking water Plant. Daily data for 28 months indicated that the major water quality indexes of source water had been improved by one grade. The percentage increase for dissolved oxygen and the removal rates of ammonia nitrogen, iron and manganese were 73.63%, 38.86%, 35.64%, and 22.14% respectively. The treatment performance weight of ponds and plant-bed/ditch systems was roughly equal but they treated different pollutants preferentially. Most water quality indexes had better treatment efficacy with increasing temperature and inlet co.centrations. These results revealed that the pond–wetland co.plexes exhibited strong buffering capacity for source water quality improvement. The treatment co.t of Shijiuyang Drinking water Plant was reduced by about 30.3%. Regional rainfall significantly determined the external river water levels and adversely deteriorated the inlet water quality, thus suggesting that the ＂hidden＂ diffuse pollution in the multitudinous stream branches as well as their catchments should be the co.trolling emphases for river source water protection in the future. The co.bination of pond and plant-bed/ditch systems provides a successful paradigm for drinking water source pretreatment. Three other drinking water source treatment wetlands with ponds and plant-bed/ditch systems are in operation or co.struction in the stream networks of the Yangtze River Delta and more people will be benefited.

The co.prehension of sediment grain size parameters and the co.responding sedimentary environment holds paramount importance in elucidating the engineering geological attributes of the subaqueous *** study delineated the sedimentary environment zoning in the northern sea area of Qingdao through cluster analysis of grain size parameters derived from 123 surface sediment *** study analyzed the co.relation between sediment geotechnical indices and grain size parameters across diverse sedimentary environments.A co.relation equation was established for samples exhibiting a strong *** study found four distinct sedimentary environments in the study area:co.stal,transitional,shallow sea,and *** the same sedimentary environment,the average grain size and sorting co.fficient exhibit significant co.relations with geotechnical indices such as water co.tent,density,shear strength,plastic limit,liquid limit,and plastic ***,notable disparities in the co.relation between grain size parameters and geotechnical indices emerge across different sedimentary environments.

Preparation and characterization of nanosized Gd_xBi_(0.95-x)VO_4:0.05Eu^(3+) solid solution as red phosphor

A co.plete solid solutions with monophasic zirco.-type structure of vanadates of formula GdxBio.95-xVO4：0.05Eu3＋（x = 04）.95） are synthesized by co.bined method of co.precipitation and hydrothermal synthesis. Their microstructures and morphologies are characterized by X-ray powder diffraction and transmission electronic microsco.e, and the results show that each of all the samples has a monophasic zirco.-type structure. The absorption spectrum of the prepared phosphor shows a blue-shift of the fundamental absorption band edge with increasing the gadolinium co.tent. Under UV-light and visible-light excitation, all the prepared phosphors show the typical luminescence properties of Eu3＋ in the zirco.-type structure. The emission intensity of GdxBi0.95-xVO4：0.05Eu3＋（x = 0.55） is strongest in all samples under UV-light and visible-light excitations. Finally, the mechanisms of luminescence of Eu3＋ in the GdxBi0.95-xVO4：0.05Eu3＋（x = 0-0.95） solid solutions are analyzed and discussed.

Investigation of non-co.esive levee breach by overtopping flow

This paper presents an experimental study of the overtopping breach of homogeneous non-co.esive levee or dike in a 180°bend rectangular flume. Detailed experimental and numerical results provide information on the breach flow discharge and longitudi- nal and transversal breach profiles for this type of levee. It is indicated that the water level and the flow discharge in the river and the levee material properties are significant influencing factors for the breach evolution. The plane form of the breach is approximately an asymmetrical hyperbola. A formula with a non-co.stant flow factor is proposed to co.pute this kind of breach discharge.
