Active Achilles tendon kinesitherapy facilitates the functional recovery of a ruptured Achilles tendon However, protein expression during the healing process remains a controversial issue. New Zealand rabbits, aged 14 weeks, underwent tenotomy followed immediately byAchilles tendon microsurgery to repair the Achilles tendon rupture. The tendon was then immobilized or subjected to postoperative early motion treatment （kinesitherapy）. Mass spectrography results showed that after 14 days of motion treatment, 18 protein spots were differentially expressed, among which, 12 were up-regulated, consisting of gelsolin isoform b and neurite growth-related protein collapsing response mediator protein 2. Western blot analysis showed that gelsolin isoform b was up-regulated at days 7-21 of motion treatment. These findings suggest that active Achilles tendon kinesitherapy promotes the neurite regeneration of a ruptured Achilles tendon and gelsolin isoform b can be used as a biomarker for Achilles tendon healing after kinesitherapy.

L-ficolin, one of lectin families, is a recently identified complement factor that initiates lectin pathway of complement. Little is known about its role in viral hepatitis. In the present study, we found that L-ficolin in serum from 103 patients with hepatitis C virus （HCV）, were significantly higher than that in 150 healthy controls. We further found that L-ficolin expressions were significantly increased in vitro study by HCV JFH-1 infected human hepatocyte cell line Huh7.5.1. Investigation of the mechanisms of the L-ficolin action on HCV demonstrated that L-ficolin protein could recognize and bind to envelope glycoproteins E1 and E2 of HCV, activating the lectin complement pathway-mediated cytolytic activity in HCV-infected hepatocyte. This interaction between L-ficolin and HCV E1 and E2 glycoproteins was attributed to the N-glycans of E1 and E2. These findings provide new insights into the biological functions of L-ficolin in clinically important hepatic viral diseases.

Effects of Combined Inhalation of Budesonide,Formoterol,and Tiotropium Bromide on Arterial Blood Gas and Pulmonary Function Indexes in Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease

Objective:To analyze the effect of combined inhalation of budesonide formoterol and tiotropium bromide on arterial blood gas and pulmonary function indexes in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD).Methods:100 patients with COPD treated from January to December 2022 were selected as observation objects,and were divided into a control group(n=50,in which budesonide and formoterol were administered)and an experimental group(n=50,the treatment drug was budesonide formoterol combined with tiotropium bromide)according to the computer grouping method,and compared the treatment ***:(i)Before treatment,there was no difference in the partial pressure of carbon dioxide and partial pressure of oxygen between the control group and the experimental group(P>0.05);after treatment,the partial pressure of carbon dioxide and partial pressure of oxygen in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group,with significant differences(Pcontrol group and the experimental group(P>0.05);after treatment,the FVC,FEV1,and FEV1/FVC in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group(Pcontrol group and the experimental group(P>0.05);after treatment,the levels of CRP,IL-6,and TNF-αin the experimental group were lower than those in the control group,with significant differences(Pcontrol group(28.00%),the incidence of total adverse reactions in the experimental group was lower at 10.00%,and the difference was significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The combined inhalation of budesonide and formoterol with tiotropium bromide has demonstrated a clear therapeutic efficacy and safety in treating chronic obstructive pulmonary ***

Use of anti-tuberculosis drugs among newly diagnosed pulmonary tuberculosis inpatients in China: a retrospective study

Background:China’s national tuberculosis control program(NTP)provides free,first-line anti-tuberculosis(TB)drugs to pulmonary TB *** treatment regimen follows the World Health Organization’s(WHO)*** objective of this paper is to evaluate the current status of anti-TB drug use for newly diagnosed pulmonary TB inpatients treated in prefecture-and county-level designated ***:Three prefecture-level hospitals and nine county-level hospitals were selected for the *** newly diagnosed pulmonary TB inpatient medical records from 2012 were reviewed and doubly examined by two national senior *** rational use of anti-TB drugs was evaluated based on criteria in line with WHO’s ***:Of the 2,060 total treatment regimens for TB,53.1%were found to be rational(1093/2060).The percentages in prefecture-level and county-level hospitals were 50.3%(761/1513)and 60.7%(332/547),*** difference between the two levels of hospitals was statistically significant(Chi-square value=17.44,Pprefecture-level and county-level hospitals were 50.6%(766/1513)and 66.7%(365/547),respectively.A statistically significant difference was found(Chi-square value=42.06,P<0.01).The use of SLD for inpatients hospitalized once and inpatients hospitalized twice or more was 58.4%(966/1653)and 40.5%(165/407),respectively,with a statistically significant difference(Chi-square value=42.26,P<0.01).Conclusions:Half of inpatients might be treated with irrational regimens,and the use of SLD was more appropriately dispensed in city-level hospitals than in county-level *** and guidelines for health personnel,

AIM: To explore the phenotype and genotype of WeillMarchesani syndrome(WMS) in a Chinese family and review related ***: Three WMS patients and other unaffected individuals in this family with a history of consanguineous marriage were included in this study. Medical history, comprehensive ophthalmic examinations, and systemic evaluation, as well as whole exome and Sanger sequencing of specific genomic regions, were performed. RESULTS: The three affected siblings presented with short stature, brachydactyly and ocular disorders, including very shallow anterior chamber, high myopia, microspherophakia lens subluxation with stretched zonules and glaucoma. Genetic analysis verified a homozygous missense mutation(c.2983C>T: p. Arg995Trp) in ADAMTS17,which was correlated with the diseases in this family, indicating an autosomal recessive inherited manner of WMS. This review aims to summarize the mutation sites of WMS genes, so as to prevent the disease and better guide clinical diagnosis and ***: A novel homozygous missense variant of ADAMTS17 is identified in a WMS family with a history of consanguineous marriage. Our study expands the range of mutations associated with WMS and deepens our understanding of pathology in disease associated with ADAMTS17 variants.

Does Helicobacter pylori eradication therapy for peptic ulcer prevent gastric cancer?

AIM:To investigate the effects of Helicobacter pylori (H pylori)eradication therapy for treatment of peptic ulcer on the incidence of gastric cancer. METHODS:A multicenter prospective cohort study was conducted between November 2000 and December 2007 in Yamagata prefecture,*** study included patients with H pylori-positive peptic ulcer who decided themselves whether to receive H pylori eradication(eradication group)or conventional antacid therapy(non-eradication group).Incidence of gastric cancer in the two groups was determined based on the results of annual endoscopy and questionnaire surveys,as well as Yamagata Prefectural Cancer Registry data,and was compared between the two groups and by results of H pylori ***:A total of 4133 patients aged between 13 and 91 years(mean 52.9 years)were registered,and 56 cases of gastric cancer were identified over a mean follow-up of 5.6 *** sex-and age-adjusted incidence ratio of gastric cancer in the eradication group, as compared with the non-eradication group,was 0.58 (95%CI:0.28-1.19)and ratios by follow-up period(3 years)were 1.16(0.27-5.00),0.50 (0.17-1.49),and 0.34(0.09-1.28),*** follow-up tended to be associated with better prevention of gastric cancer,although not to a significant *** significant difference in incidence of gastric cancer was observed between patients with successful eradication therapy(32/2451 patients,1.31%)and those with treatment failure(11/639 patients,1.72%).Among patients with duodenal ulcer,which is known to be more prevalent in younger individuals,the incidence of gastric cancer was significantly less in those with successful eradication therapy(2/845 patients,0.24%)than in those with treatment failure(3/216 patients,1.39%). CONCLUSION:H pylori eradication therapy for peptic ulcer patients with a mean age of 52.9 years at registration did not significantly decrease the incidence of gastric cancer.
