Analysis of the Identification of Local Agriculture Products in the Municipality of Aileu, Manufahi, and Ainaro That Have Potential for Export and Attract Foreign Investments in Agricultural Sector

The objective of this study is to identify and collect information on local agriculture products and identify local potential agriculture and livestock that can attract foreign investments. Used Stratified Random Sampling and data was collected from both primary and secondary data (both quantitative and qualitative data. The data analyzed used qualitative and quantitative analysis. The supply chain analysis was carried out to develop a description of the value chain to identify potential high-value market areas and current and potential products in the domestic and export markets. The results of the study revealed that most farmers in the research location grow different types of crops and livestock. In particular for Aileu and Ainaro where most of the areas are up-land, therefore, horticulture crops (mustard, cabbage, carrots, and tomato) and coffee are dominated in these areas. For Manufahi, some parts are lowland areas, where most crops grown are maize, cassava, and paddy rice. The study reveals that local potential agriculture products and livestock in the municipalities of Aileu, Ainaro, and Manufahi are vegetable, coffee, maize, and paddy rice, banana, shallot, tangerine, cabbage, carrot, cattle, mung-bean, and banana. To accelerate economic growth, in these municipalities, there is a need to modernize agricultural production, requiring markets for both inputs supply and for the sale of output products. Opportunities to increase the productivity of these products are feasible and this can be done through the use of high-variety seeds and better farm management, and the government and private sector can play an important role in improving productivity as this will have a further implication in improving food security.

Maternal Perception on Obesity;Its Complications and Gestational Weight Gain in Pregnant Mothers Presenting to Antenatal Clinics in a South Asian Teaching Hospital (De Soyza Hospital for Women Colombo—DSHW)

The rates of overweight and obesity are rising to epidemic proportions globally, especially among women. Obesity is increasingly common in the obstetric population as well. Sri Lanka is not an exception to this regard. There is limited published data on maternal perceptions on obesity in pregnancy, gestational weight gain and its complications. The current study aimed to describe the maternal perception on obesity, their knowledge on complications of obesity in pregnancy and gestational weight gain in pregnant mothers. Hospital based descriptive cross sectional study was conducted among a systematic sample of 416 pregnant women registered for antenatal clinic care at De Soyza Maternity Hospital. Pre-tested interviewer administered questionnaire was used for data collection. Maternal BMI at booking visit was taken from the pregnancy record to assess the overweight/obesity prevalence among the study population. Nearly one third (32.2%) of the study population were overweight and 11.8% were obese. Fifty three percent (53%) of overweight women identified themselves as such, but 45% of them considered themselves to be normal weight. Most of the pregnant women in the study sample (59.6%) were unable to estimate the recommended weight gain in pregnancy. Women’s knowledge on the specific risks associated with maternal obesity was poor. Pregnant mother’s knowledge on obesity, gestational weight gain and its consequences were unsatisfactory. Bridging this knowledge gap is an important step towards improving perinatal outcomes for all pregnant mothers in the current obesity epidemic.

微创牙科学是指采用生物学方法而不是传统的牙体手术处理龋病,以最大限度地减少对牙体结构的破坏。这种新的龋病处理方法,将过去强调的视龋损为“洞”而反复充填的理念,转变为视龋损为口腔生态失衡而促使生物膜产生生物学变化。微创牙科学的目的在于阻止龋病进程,然后修复缺失的牙体结构和功能,最大限度地发挥牙体的愈合潜能。微创牙科学的处理方法可概括为3个步骤:(1)判定患者的患龋风险;(2)再矿化,即防止龋损形成并逆转未形成“洞”的浅龋;(3)修复,即控制龋活性,使愈合潜能最大化并修复龋损。龋病并非仅仅是牙体脱矿,而是一个因生物膜与牙界面生态和化学平衡失衡而致的反复的脱矿过程(生态菌斑学说)。饮食和生活方式(尤其是碳水化合物的摄入频次)、饮水、吸烟是导致生物膜生态和致病性的重要因素。椅旁评价菌斑和唾液的方法的问世,使得龋病危险评估和监测患者的顺从性成为可能。唾液的再矿化特性,可以通过使用能够释放Ca2+、P5+、F1-的再矿化剂(CPP-ACPandCPP-ACFP)而予强化。使用某些化学制剂(氟、氯已定和木糖醇),可改变菌斑的致病性。采用微创治疗方案,可修复早期龋损,增进患者的理解力和顺从性。本文从3个方面,详细论述了微创牙科学的概念、理论基础和操作方法。

目的:分析普通用户使用电子设备/电脑的工作距离(WD)及移动电话使用距离(MPUD)的特征。方法:横向描述性研究。经过筛选后,纳入每天使用电子设备/电脑超过2h的专业人员100例,年龄20-62(平均41.2)岁,测量每位受试者工作环境中使用电子设备/电脑的工作距离(WD)、手臂长度和MPUD。结果:纳入受检者WD明显长于MPUD(61.22±12.35 vs 32.22±6.35 cm;P<0.001),MPUD明显短于臂长(74.44±4.65 cm;P<0.001)。4%和91%的受检者WD和MPUD分别小于或等于40 cm。WD与MPUD、手臂长度均呈弱相关性(r=0.387,P<0.001;r=0.260,P<0.001)。不同职业受试者WD有显著差异(P=0.021),军队人员相比大学研究人员和讲师的WD更长(P=0.025)。结论:普通用户使用电子设备/电脑的工作距离与移动电话使用距离差别较大,移动电话使用距离较近,这对于矫正老视具有一定的参考意义。

Use of a National Clinical Final Examination in a Bachelor’s Programme in Nursing to Assess Clinical Competence—Students’, lecturers’ and Nurses’ Perceptions

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the perceptions of students, lecturers, nurses and clinical lecturers regarding the ability of the National Clinical Final Examination (NCFE) to assess clinical competence, and whether the assessment was consistent with the qualifications for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing as outlined by the Swedish Higher Education Authority. The NCFE is divided into two parts (written and bedside) and aims to evaluate third-year nursing students’ clinical competence. Methods: Data were collected at 10 universities using study-specific questionnaires. The total response rate was 84% (n = 1652). Results: The clinical lecturers indicated that there was a need for improvement in the written part of the examination in order to adequately assess clinical competence. Regarding the bedside part the clinical lecturers, nurses and students perceived that the bedside part of the examination assessed whether the student had the clinical competence required by a newly registered nurse. Conclusion: The two-part examination described in this study was perceived as useful for assessing clinical competence and for the qualification requirements for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing as outlined by the Swedish Higher Education Authority. However, especially the written part requires further development. The model and form of assessment ought to be applicable to graduate nursing programme internationally.

Introduction: Africa was noted as a challenging place for allied health care professions including occupational therapy. Those challenges include promotion of occupational therapy and educational program. The University of Rwanda started the occupational therapy training program in 2014 with support of different stakeholders such as Humanity & Inclusion (HI), Rwanda. Aim: This study aimed to explore the contribution of different stakeholders in the development of occupational therapy programs and impact on the profession in Rwanda. Methods: A survey and mixed method of qualitative and quantitative approach was used. Client satisfaction questionnaire, semi-structured self-generated questionnaire were administered to the participants. Results: The majority of occupational therapists were between 20 and 30 years old and only half of the entire population were employed. Majority of the involved Universities excellently achieved their responsibilities. However, few of them reported to have achieved only 50% of their responsibilities. Other contributors like lecturers reported to have excellently achieved their duties while others reported to have achieved only 50%. Non-Governmental Organizations reported to contribute to enough level however there were some organizations contributed to the lowest level below 50%. The client receiving the Occupational Therapy services showed that they are very satisfied at the level of 73.5%, satisfied at 59% and not all satisfied at 20%. Conclusion: This study concluded that there is need for various stakeholders’ contributions, and a need for further study to explore the impact of occupational therapy profession in rehabilitation healthcare system of Rwanda.

Japanese University Teachers’ Depression Status and Its Influence Factors

Risk factors of the depression are the occupational stress. The mental health condition of university teachers who participate in the socialization of diverse students is an important issue;however, there are few studies on depression among university teachers. The purpose of this study is to clarify Japanese university teachers’ depression status assessed by the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 and its influence factors: Japanese university teachers’ depression status depression status, personal background, job situation, social support, and stress coping behavior. The self-administered questionnaire survey was mailed to 924 university teachers in Japan, with a survey return rate of 43.8% (N = 405). A total of 342 surveys were completed and valid. The Patient Health Questionnaire 9 (PHQ-9), Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS), the Japanese version of the Brief Coping Orientation to Problems Experienced (COPE) and the Work Situation Questionnaire (WSQ) were analyzed to clarify the depression status and its influence factors. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to examine factors related to the major depression. The subjects included 274 men (80.1%) and 68 women (19.9%), 105 professors (30.7%), 52 associate professors (15.2%), 53 lecturers (15.5%) and 132 assistants (38.6%). The subjects’ mean of age and teaching experiences were 44.1 ± 9.7 years, 15.6 ± 10.1 years. The mean PHQ score was 3.9 ± 4.1, and 307 subjects (89.8%) were 0 - 9 points and 35 subjects (10.2%) were over 10 points (10 points or over). For women [OR = 7.009, 95% CI 2.387 - 20.584;p < 0.001], religion [OR = 1.813, 95% CI 1.175 - 2.798;p = 0.007], self-blame [OR = 1.808, 95% CI 1.280 - 2.556;p = 0.001], substance use [OR = 1.453, 95% CI 1.103 - 1.913;p = 0.008] were risk factors of depression status. On the other hand, high job satisfaction level [OR = 0.945, 95% CI 0.921 - 0.969;p < 0.001], higher age [OR = 0.927, 95% CI 0.873 - 0.984;p =0.014], use of instrument
