The preparation and electrical properties of diamond nanocones are reviewed, including a maskless etching pro- cess and mechanism of large-area diamond conical nanostructure arrays using a hot filament chemical vapor deposition （HFCVD） system with negatively biased substrates, and the field electron emission, gas sensing, and quantum transport properties of a diamond nanocone array or an individual diamond nanocone. Optimal cone aspect ratio and array density are investigated, along with the relationships between the cone morphologies and experimental parameters, such as the CH4/H2 ratio of the etching gas, the bias current, and the gas pressure. The reviewed experiments demonstrate the possi- bility of using nanostructured diamond cones as a display device element, a point electron emission source, a gas sensor or a quantum device.

By performing density functional theory plus U calculations, we systematically study the structural, electronic, and magnetic properties of U02 under uniaxial tensile strain. The results show that the ideal tensile strengths along the [100], [110], and [111] directions are 93.6, 2Z7, and 16.4 GPa at strains of 0.44, 0.24, and 0.16, respectively. After electronic-structure investigation for tensile stain along the [001] direction, we find that the strong mixed ionic/covalent character of U-O bond is weakened by the tensile strain and there will occur an insulator to metal transition at strain over 0.30.

This paper computationally investigates the RhSin （n = 1 6） clusters by using a density functional approach. Geometry optimizations of the RhSin （n = 1 6） clusters are carried out at the B3LYP level employing LanL2DZ basis sets. It presents and discusses the equilibrium geometries of the RhSin （n = 1-6） clusters as well as the corresponding averaged binding energies, fragmentation energies, natural populations, magnetic properties, and the energy gaps between the highest occupied molecular orbital and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital. Theoretical results show that the most stable RhSin（n = 1-6） isomers keep an analogous framework of the corresponding Sin＋1 clusters, the RhSi3 is the most stable cluster in RhSin （n = 1-6） isomers. Furthermore, the charges of the lowest-energy RhSin （n = 1-6） clusters transfer mainly from Si atom to Rh atom. Meanwhile, the magnetic moments of the RhSin（n = 1-6） arises from the 4d orbits of Rh atom. Finally, compared with the Sin＋1 cluster, the chemical stability RhSin clusters are universally improved.

The technique details for measuring radiation dose are expounded. The results of gamma and neutron radiation levels are presented and the corresponding radiation shielding is discussed based on the simplified estimation. In addition, the photon radiation level move as background for future experiments is measured by a NaI（T1） detector.

Chemical vapor deposition-tungsten （CVD-W） coating covering the surface of the plasma facing component （PFC） is an effective method to implement the tungsten material as plasma facing material （PFM） in fusion devices. Residual thermal stress in CVD-W coating due to thermal mismatch between coating and substrate was successfully simulated by using a finite element method （ANSYS 10.0 code）. The deposition parametric effects, i.e., coating thickness and deposition temperature, and interlayer were investigated to get a description of the residual thermal stress in the CVD-W coating-substrate system. And the influence of the substrate materials on the generation of residual thermal stress in the CVD-W coating was analyzed with respect to the CVD-W coating application as PFM. This analysis is beneficial for the preparation and application of CVD-W coating.

Cysteine(Cys)plays a pivotal role in many physiological and pathological processes,including detoxification and protein *** abnormal levels of Cys are linked to many *** this study,a novel red-emitting off-on fluorescent probe Cys-TCF was masterly constructed for discriminative detection of *** a series of experimental assessment,Cys-TCF displayed higher selectivity and sensitivity for Cys over other biothilols with a low detection limit(0.04μmol/L).More notably,the probe was also successfully applied to image Cys in live cells and live zebrafishes with low cytotoxicity.

We investigate the carrier envelope phase （CEP） effects on high-order harmonic generation （HHG） in ultrashort pulses with the pulse duration 2.5 fs when the laser intensity is high enough so that the initial state is ionized effectively during the laser pulse but remains about 20% population at the end of the laser pulse. We find that the ionization process of the initial state is very sensitive to the CEP during the laser pulse. The ionization process of the initial state determines the continuum state population and hence influences dramatically the weights of the classical trajectories that contribute to HHG. In such a case we can not predict the cutoff and the structure of the harmonic spectrum only by the number and the kinetic energy of the classical trajectories. The harmonic spectrum exhibits abundant characters for different CEP cases. As a result, we can control the cutoff frequency and the plateau structure of the harmonic spectrum with CEP by controlling the time behaviour of the ionization of the initial state.

A detector setup for the measurement of angular distribution of heavy-ion elastic scattering at energies around Coulomb barrier on the radioactive ion beam line in lanzhou at the heavy-ion research facility in lanzhou is *** beam profile and the scattering angles on the target are deduced by two parallel plate avalanche counters,and four sets of detector telescopes(including doublesided silicon strip detectors) are placed systematically with the beam line,incorporating with Monte Carlo *** data of ^(16)O on ^(89)Y target were analyzed to compare with the simulation *** is found that the simulated distribution is agreeable with the experimental *** assuming the pure Rutherford scattering at small scattering angles,the angular distribution of elastic scattering of^(16)O+^(89)Y at low energies can be reasonably *** indicates that this set of detector setup can be used for the measurement of angular distributions of heavy-ion elastic scattering at energies around Coulomb barrier.
