The Three Gorges project accelerates economic development in the Three Gorges Reservoir *** paper aimed to investigate the distribution,changes and features of cultivated land in this area,analyze the forces driving the changes in cultivated land area,and propose the countermeasures for cultivated land *** matrix was used to analyze the features of cultivated land changes,and quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis were adopted to research the driving forces according to the features of cultivated land *** land in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area mainly lay to the northwest of the Yangtze River,especially the upper *** areas of cultivated land increased from 1996 to 1999,then decreased from 2000 to 2006,and finally increased again from 2007 to *** important forces driving changes in cultivated land included government policies,employment and food security,increasing construction land,agriculture structure adjustment,land rearrangement,*** cultivated land management,firstly,it is necessary to insist on the principle of cultivated land protection,standardize land exploitation and strictly restrict the transformation of cultivated land into non-farming ***,land rearrangement must be implemented,which can not only increase the area of the cultivated land,but also improve the quality of the cultivated ***,it is feasible to intensify eco-agriculture construction to increase the quantity and quality of cultivated ***,it is helpful to improve the traditional agriculture production methods to promote cultivated land ***,it is important to propagandize cultivated land protection and realize the enormous pressure of cultivated land shortage,making more people obligated to protect cultivated land.

In this paper,the co-rotational total Lagrangian forms of finite element formulations are derived to perform elasto-plastic analysis for plane steel frames that either experience increasing external loading at ambient temperature or constant external loading at elevated *** nonlinearities and thermal-expansion effects are considered.A series of programs were developed based on these *** verify the accuracy and efficiency of the nonlinear finite element programs,numerical benchmark tests were performed,and the results from these tests are in a good agreement with the *** effects of the nonlinear terms of the stiffness matrices on the computational results were investigated in *** was also demonstrated that the influence of geometric nonlinearities on the incremental steps of the finite element analysis for plane steel frames in the presence of fire is limited.

Efficient control of connected and automated vehicles on a two-lane highway with a moving bottleneck

This paper investigates the traffic flow of connected and automated vehicles(CAVs)inducing by a moving bottleneck on a two-lane highway.A heuristic rules-based algorithm(HRA)has been used to control the traffic flow upstream of the moving *** the HRA,some CAVs in the control zone are mapped onto the neighboring lane as virtual *** improve the driving comfort,the command acceleration caused by virtual vehicle is *** with the benchmark in which the CAVs change lane as soon as the lane changing condition is met,the HRA significantly improves the traffic flow:the overtaking throughput as well as the outflow rate increases,the travel delay and the fuel consumption decrease,the comfort level could also be improved.

Analysis of Autopilot Disengagements Occurring During Autonomous Vehicle Testing

In present-day highly-automated vehicles, there are occasions when the driving system disengages and the human driver is required to take-over. This is of great importance to a vehicle's safety and ride comfort. In the U.S state of California, the Autonomous Vehicle Testing Regulations require every manufacturer testing autonomous vehicles on public roads to submit an annual report summarizing the disengagements of the technology experienced during testing. On 1 January 2016,seven manufacturers submitted their first disengagement reports:Bosch, Delphi, Google, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, and Tesla Motors. This work analyses the data from these disengagement reports with the aim of gaining abetter understanding of the situations in which a driver is required to takeover, as this is potentially useful in improving the Society of Automotive Engineers(SAE) Level 2 and Level 3 automation *** events from testing are classified into different groups based on attributes and the causes of disengagement are investigated and compared in detail. The mechanisms and time taken for take-over transition occurred in disengagements are studied. Finally, recommendations for OEMs, manufacturers, and government organizations are also discussed.

Corrosion Measurements of Reinforcing Steel by Different Electrochemical Techniques

Electrochemical techniques of the corrosion measurements of reinforcing steeI in concrete have been evaluated. These techniques include half-cell potential measurements, impressed voltage method, impressed current method and potentiostatic polarization technique. The results of corrosion behaviour of the steel in both 5%NaCl and 5%MgSO4 show that each electrochemical technique provides some information about the condition of the steel bar or the corrosivity of the environment being evaluated, yet none provides a complete data regarding the corrosion resistance of reinforcing steel in aggressive media

Incorporating geotechnical and geophysical investigations for underground obstruction detection:A case study

Determining the location and boundary of underground obstructions and/or anomalies is a common problem and often a great chal-lenge for tunneling and underground *** this study,geotechnical investigations(penetration tests and borehole drilling/sam-pling)and geophysical investigations(surface wave method and cross-hole seismic method)were conducted with the aim of identifying the location and boundary of rock obstructions in Changi East,*** surface wave method is frequently used in the sites with lateral homogeneity in previous studies,but its application in the sites with rock obstructions is *** experimental results of this study indicate that the surface wave method is also able to determine the upper surface of rock obstructions,but difficult to identify the lateral and bottom boundaries of rock *** improve the precision of detection,the full waveform inversion(FWI)method was used to process the data from the cross-hole seismic *** results indicate that the inversion precision of P-wave is higher than that of *** horizontal and vertical ranges of rock obstructions in the P-wave inversion results are 14–26 m and 7.5–11.0 m respectively,roughly consistent with the results of penetration tests(about 15–25 m)and borehole log(8.85–10.80 m).This result proves that the sequential application of first-arrival time analysis and FWI can effectively delineate the boundary of rock ***,the results of various detection methods were analyzed and compared in this *** the advantages of various methods,we propose a cost-effective and high-precision workflow containing both geotechnical and geophysical investigations.

Simulation of land-use Scenarios for Beijing Using CLUE-S and Markov Composite Models

This study investigated and simulated land use patterns in Beijing for the year 2000 and the year 2005 from the actual land use data for the year 1995 and the year 2000,respectively,by combining spatial land allocation simulation using the CLUE-S model,and numerical land demand prediction using the Markov *** simulations for 2000 and 2005 were confirmed to be generally accurate using Kappa *** the land-use scenarios for Beijing in 2015 were simulated assuming two modes of development:1) urban development following existing trends;and 2) under a strict farmland *** simulations suggested that under either mode,urbanized areas would expand at the expense of land for other *** expansion was predicted to dominate the land-use conversions between 2005 and 2015,and was expected to be accompanied by an extensive loss of *** key susceptible to land-use changes were found to be located at the central urban Beijing and the surrounding regions including Yanqing County,Changping District and Fangshan ***,the simulations predicted a considerable expansion of urban/suburban areas in the mountainous regions of Beijing,suggesting a need for priority monitoring and protection.

Mineralogical, REE-geochemical and fluid inclusion studies on some uranium occurrences, Gabal Gattar, Northeastern Desert, Egypt

Altered granite occurrences (GII and GV) at Gabal (G.) Gattar are the most important mineralized rocks hosting U-mineralization in Egypt. This mineralized granite is affected by multi-stage hydrothermal alteration proc-esses along brittle structures. This alteration comprises pre-ore alkali-metasomatism and ore-stage hydrothermal hematitization, silicification, kaolinitization, fluoritization, carbonatization and episyenitization. Autoradiographic examination indicates that primary uranium mineralization is present as massive or disseminated ores along tectonic fractures, interstitially in granular minerals, and as cements of breccias. Uraninite, pitchblende and coffinite are the main primary minerals, while uranophane and kasolite are the secondary ones. Galena, chalcopyrite, pyrrohtite and pyrite are the most abundant sulphides in association with uranium mineralizations. Hydrothermal alterations at the GII occurrence exhibit an increase in Ni, Cu, Zn, Pb, Mo, Nb, Rb beside HREEs and a decrease in Ba, Co, Sr, and V, while alterations at the GV occurrence show enrichment in Ni, Cu, Pb, Mo, Nb, Y, HREEs and depletion in Zn, Ba, Co, Rb, Sr, and V. Hydrothermal alteration during the late magmatic stage is also identified through the development of unusual REE patterns and fractionation of ratios like Zr/Hf and Y/Ho out of the CHARAC (Charge Radius Con-trolled) range. Non-chondritic Y/Ho ratio at GV is of larger value than chondritic one which may result from wa-ter-rock interaction or print from the encompassing sedimentary rocks. Fluid inclusion studies on quartz and fluorite revealed that temperatures of the mineralizing fluids range between 126 and 240℃ at pressure ≤0.5×108 Pa and give salinity values ranging between 1 wt% and 7.8 wt% NaCl equivalent.

Cold metal transfer(CMT) technology-An overview

Cold Metal Transfer technology has revolutionized the welding of dissimilar metals and thicker materials by producing improved weld bead aesthetics with controlled metal deposition and low heat-input. In this study, the process, weld combinations, laser-CMT hybrid welding and applications of CMT welding are critically reviewed. Microstructure and other weld characteristics have been discussed at length for various base metal combinations. Particularly, the welding of aluminium and steel with better results has been possible with CMT Welding. The results reviewed in this article indicate that the CMT-Laser hybrid welding is more preferable to Laser or Laser hybrid welding. CMT welding has found applications in automobile industries, defence sectors and power plants as a method of additive manufacturing.
