The construction of modern livable cities faces challenges in karst areas,including ground collapse and engineering ***,with a population of 13.74×10^(6) and approximately 1161 km^(2)of soluble rocks in the urban area of 8569.15 km^(2),predominantly consists of concealed karst areas where occasional ground collapse events occur,posing significant threats to underground engineering *** address these challenges,a comprehensive geological survey was conducted in Wuhan,focusing on major karstrelated *** methods offer advantages over drilling in detecting concealed karst areas due to their efficiency,non-destructiveness,and *** paper reviewed the karst geological characteristics in Wuhan and the geophysical exploration methods for karst,selected eight effective geophysical methods for field experimentation,evaluated their suitability,and proposed method combinations for different karst *** results show that different geophysical methods have varying applicability for karst detection in Wuhan,and combining multiple methods enhances detection *** specific recommendations for method combinations provided in this study serve as a valuable reference for karst detection in Wuhan.

Genetic Analysis of Structural Styles in the Makran Accretionary Wedge–Insight from Physical Simulations

The Makran accretionary wedge has the smallest subduction angle among any accretionary prism in the world. The factors controlling the spacing and morphological development of its deep thrust faults, as well as the formation mechanism of shallow normal faults, remain unclear. Meanwhile, the factors affecting the continuity of plane faults must be comprehensively discussed. Clarifying the development characteristics and deformation mechanisms of the Makran accretionary wedge is crucial to effectively guide the exploration of gas hydrate deposits in the area. This study aims to interpret seismic data to identify typical structures in the Makran accretionary wedge, including deep imbricate thrust faults, shallow and small normal faults, wedge-shaped piggyback basins, mud diapirs with fuzzy and disorderly characteristics of reflection, décollements with a northward tilt of 1° – 2°, and large seamounts. Physical simulation-based experiments are performed to comprehensively analyze the results of the plane, section, and slices of the wedge. Results reveal that the distances between and shapes of thrust faults in the deep parts of the Makran accretionary wedge are controlled by the bottom décollement. The uplift of the thrust fault-related folds and the upwelling of the mud diapirs primarily contribute to the formation of small normal faults in the shallow part of the area. The mud diapirs originate from plastic material at the bottom, while those that have developed in the area near the trench are larger. Seamounts and mud diapirs break the continuity of fault plane distribution.

The genesis and resource potential of gold deposits in the Liaodong Peninsula

Plenty of gold deposits related to Late Mesozoic craton destruction are widely distributed in eastern North china Craton. However, significant differences in research degrees, ore-forming characteristics, and proven reserves exist among different regions in the North china Craton. The Liaodong Peninsula has similar regional geological characteristics to those of the Jiaodong Peninsula, with both experiencing craton destruction during Late Mesozoic, but the two areas have substantial differences in terms of gold mineralization and the proven gold resources. Based on regional geology, Mesozoic magmatictectonic evolution and ore geology, combined with integrated geophysical exploration and big data AI resource prediction, in this paper, we propose that the ore-forming materials of Late Mesozoic gold deposits in Liaodong were mainly originated from mantle-derived melts and/or fluids induced by craton destruction. The gold deposits were primarily controlled by NE-NNEtrending faults, mainly classified as fracture-controlled altered rock-type and sulfide-bearing quartz vein-type. Moreover, our study predicts that the Yalu River fault zone and its related secondary faults, as well as the periphery and deeper parts of known goldfields, are the important regions for future gold resource exploration. The Yalu River metallogenic belt has an enormous potential for gold resources, and the Liaodong Peninsula has a potential to add thousands of tons of gold resources.

First SHRIMP zircon U-Pb dating constraints for the Ediacaran Wenghui Biota

The Ediacaran period records a significant turning point in the evolution of life on Earth， witnessing the rise to ecological dominance of macroscopic tissue-grade organisms. The Wenghui biota from the Doushantuo Formation of South china hosts abundant multicellular algal macrofossils and problematica， some of which might be closely related to taxa from classic late Ediacaran assemblages from South Australia and the White Sea biota of Russia. However， a lack of well-resolved isotopic age estimates has hampered efforts to constrain the timing of appearance of the Wenghui biota， obfuscating its significance to our understanding of Ediacaran macroevolution in the aftermath of the Snowball Earth events. Here， we present the first SHRIMP zircon U-Pb dating results for samples obtained from a laminated tuff ash layer at the base of the Wenghui biota in the Doushantuo Formation， Jiangkou County， Tongren City， Guizhou Province， china. Our analyses yield an age of 595.4 ± 5.3 Ma for the first appearance of Wenghui biota， suggesting that its appearance postdated that of the Lantian- and Weng’an biotas， but preceded that of the Miaohe biota. These newly obtained age proxies offer an independent test of previous isotopic estimates for the age of the Wenghui biota， providing new chronostratigraphic evidence to map the succession of Ediacaran fossil assemblages on the Yangtze Platform during the Doushantuo interval. These data suggest that the Lantian， Weng’an， Wenghui， and Miaohe biotas may record a sequence of biotic assemblages attesting to successive phases in the radiation of Ediacaran macroscopic organisms， particularly macroalgae.

Structural Control of the Getang Carlin-Type Gold Deposit in Southwest china

The Getang is a representative Carlin-type gold deposit in Southwest *** has a proven reserve of about 30 tonnes at an average grade of 5.1 g/t *** orebodies occur as strat-abound lenses,and are structurally controlled by shallow NWW-and NE-trending fold-fault systems and the unconformity between the Upper and Middle *** this study,the regional-and deposit-scale structural investigations,joints and finite strain measurements,and stress and dynamic analysis were conducted with an aim to reveal the structural process of the Getang gold deposit and clarify the relationship between the gold mineralization and *** phases of deformation were identified in the deposit:(1)paleokarst was generated by a crustal uplift when the Youjiang Basin experienced extension at the end of the Middle Permian,laying the foundation for the unconformity;(2)the NW-trending structures were formed under a NNE-SSW compression during the Indochina-South china collision(Indosinian orogeny)in Triassic;(3)the NE-trending structures were generated or reactivated under a NW-SE-oriented compression during the Yanshanian intracontinental *** unconformity recorded two episodes of tectonic evolution in the NNE-SSW and NW-SE *** analyses and geochronology data suggest that the Getang gold deposit was formed as a result of tectonic transition from compression to extension during the Yanshanian intracontinental orogeny.

Provenance of Upper Jurassic in North Yellow Sea Basin， Eastern North china Craton

Base on the detrital zircon U-Pb dating data， this paper discusses the provenance and constructs source-to-sink system of the Upper Jurassic in the North Yellow Sea Basin (NYSB)， Eastern North china Craton (ENCC). In addition， to avoid the bias of detrital zircon ages caused by variations in zircon fertility， we gather 1709 whole rock zirconium content values (ppm) from granitic rocks with different ages in the North china Craton (NCC). Base on mean Zr content of granitic rocks in each age， these granitic rocks can be divided into four groups: Group A consists of Jurassic， Group B consists of Paleozoic， Neo-Mesoproterozoic and Neoarchean， Group C consists of Early Cretaceous and Triassic， and Group D consists of Paleoproterozoic. This research assigns these groups zircon fertility factors (ZFF) of 1， 1.4， 1.8 and 2.2. The U-Pb age of detrital zircons from Late Jurassic sediments corrected by ZFF are statistically analyzed (K-S test， Similarity， Cross-correlation， Linkeness， Multidimensional scaling). And combining with palaeocurrent and palaeogeography， we construct two source-to-sink systems: 1) Jiaodong Uplift and Sulu Orogenic belt as the source area and the North Yellow Sea Basin as the sink area; 2) Liaodong Peninsula as the source area and the North Yellow Sea Basin as the sink area.

Kimberlite,one of the deepest known magmatic rocks on Earth,offers valuable glimpses into the deep mantle composition(Woodhead et al.,2019),craton structure(Gardiner et al.,2020),global geodynamic variation(Tappe et al.,2018),and diamond formation(Giuliani et al.,2023).The accurate determination of the emplacement of this special rock is crucial for revealing such ***,dating kimberlite is challenging due to its silica-poor,volatile-rich,strongly altered,and hybrid nature(Mitchell et al.,2019).Zircon is unsuitable for dating kimberlite and related rocks due to its preference for crystallizing in intermediate to felsic melts(Gervasoni et al.,2016)rather than silica-poor *** if present,zircon is prone to Pb loss through hydrothermal alteration(Zi et al.,2022)in a volatile-rich system like kimberlitic magmas.

The evaluation of urban underground space(UUS)suitability involves multiple *** weight to these indicators is crucial for accurate *** paper presents a method for spatially variable weight assignment of indicators using the order relation analysis method(G1-method),the entropy weight method,an improved grey relational analysis(GRA)and a set of spatial weight adjustment ***,the subjective and objective weights of indicators for engineering geological and hydrogeological conditions were determined by the G1-method and entropy weight method,respectively,and their combined weights were then obtained using the principle of minimum discriminatory *** study highlighted the impact of surface restrictions,such as buildings,on UUS,and the degree of the influence of these buildings gradually decreased with the increase in depth of the rock and soil mass in UUS,which resulted in changes in weights of indicators with *** address this issue,a coefficient was defined as the standardized value of the ratio of additional stress applied by restrictions to the self-weight stress of soil at the same depth to modify the combined weights so that all weights of indicators could vary in ***,an improved GRA was used to determine the suitability level of each evaluation cell using the maximum correlation *** method was applied to the 3D suitability evaluation of UUS in Sanlong Bay,Foshan City,Guangdong Province,china,including 16 evaluation *** study comprehensively considered the influence of multiple factors,thereby providing reference for evaluating the suitability of UUS in big cities.

The Triassic granitoids in Central Tianshan play a key role in determining the petrogenesis and tectonic evolution on the southern margin of the Central Asian orogenic *** this study,we present SHRIMP zircon U-Pb ages,Hf isotopic and geochemical data on the Xingxingxia biotite granite,amazonite granite and granitic pegmatite in Central Tianshan,NW *** U-Pb dating yielded formation ages of 242 Ma for the biotite granite and 240 Ma for the amazonite *** granitoid rocks have high K_(2)O with low MgO and CaO *** are enriched in Nb,Ta,Hf and Y,while being depleted in Ba and Sr,showing flat HREE patterns and negative Eu *** have typical A-type granite geochemical signatures with high Ga/A_(1)(8–13)and TFeO/(TFeO+MgO)ratios,showing an A_(2) affinity for biotite granite and an A_(1) affinity for amazonite granite and granitic *** ε_(Hf)(t)values of the granitoids are 0.45–2.66,with Hf model ages of 0.99–1.17 *** suggests that these A-type granites originated from partial melting of the lower *** propose that Xingxingxia Triassic A-type granites formed under lithospheric extension from post-orogenic to anorogenic intraplate settings and NE-trending regional strike-slip fault-controlled magma emplacement in the upper crust.
