Vector-borne viruses, transmitted among humans and animal hosts through bites of vectors such as mosquitoes and ticks,pose a great and ongoing threat to public health and biosafety (Yang et al., 2022).Among them, dengue virus-induced epidemics, have dramatically increased worldwide in recent decades. The report released by the World Health Organization (WHO) at the end of 2023 showed that dengue epidemic globally surged in2023, with the number of reported cases nearing a historical peak.

The impact of interfacial charge on catalytic performance of supported-metal-cluster(SMC)heterostructures remains unclear,hindering efforts to develop high-performance SMC *** we systematically investigated interfacial charge effects of SMCs using a model system of graphene-supported gold-nanoclusters(AuNCs/rGO)for azo *** types of SMCs with different interfacial charges were synthesized by anchoring electropositive 2-aminoethanethiol(CSH),amphoteric cysteine(Cys),and electronegative 3-mercaptopropionic-acid(MPA)onto AuNCs/rGO,*** three SMCs exhibited high and selective catalytic activity to azo-hydrogenation in four representative azo *** catalytic activity of Cys@AuNCs/rGO was lower than that of CSH@AuNCs/rGO but higher than that of MPA@AuNCs/***,the cyclic stability of Cys@AuNCs/rGO was inferior to that of both CSH@AuNCs/rGO and MPA@AuNCs/*** mechanistic studies revealed that amino ligands modified CSH@AuNCs and Cys@AuNCs agglomerated into large-size gold nanoparticles on rGO surface during catalytic reaction under NaBH_(4) action,leading to reduced efficiency and cyclic ***,non-amino ligand modified MPA@AuNCs only partially detached from rGO surface without agglomeration,resulting in better cyclic *** of amino groups in ligands such as modifying-NH_(3)^(+)group in Cys into imine to form N-isobutyryl-L-cysteine(NIBC)substantially improved the cyclic stability while maintaining the high activity in the NIBC@AuNCs/rGO catalyst *** work provides an approach for developing a highly-active and stable SMC heterostructure catalyst via manipulating interfacial charges in SMC.

Thrombosis and inflammation are primary contributors to the onset and progression of ischemic *** contact-kinin pathway,initiated by plasma kallikrein(PK)and activated factor XII(FXIIa),functions bidirectionally with the coagulation and inflammation cascades,providing a novel target for therapeutic drug development in ischemic *** this study,we identified a bat-derived oligopeptide from Myotis myotis(Borkhausen,1797),designated LE6(Leu-Ser-Glu-Glu-Pro-Glu,702 Da),with considerable potential in stroke therapy due to its effects on the contact kinin ***,LE6 demonstrated significant inhibitory effects on PK and FXIIa,with inhibition constants of 43.97μmol/L and 6.37μmol/L,*** vitro analyses revealed that LE6 prolonged plasma recalcification time and activated partial thromboplastin *** murine models,LE6 effectively inhibited carrageenan-induced mouse tail thrombosis,FeCl3-induced carotid artery thrombosis,and photochemically induced intracerebral ***,LE6 significantly decreased inflammation and stroke injury in transient middle cerebral artery occlusion ***,the low toxicity,hemolytic activity,and bleeding risk of LE6,along with its synthetic simplicity,underscore its clinical *** conclusion,as an inhibitor of FXIIa and PK,LE6 offers potential therapeutic benefits in stroke treatment by mitigating inflammation and preventing thrombus formation.

The Annual Report on Cardiovascular Health and diseases in China(2022)intricate landscape of cardiovascular health in *** is the third section of the report with a specific focus on community-based prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases(CVD).This section of the report underscores the importance of initiatives outlined in the"Healthy China 2030 Plan,"emphasizing the comprehensive prevention and control strategy for chronic diseases.A key aspect of this plan involves the establishment of national demonstration areas aimed at comprehensive prevention and control of chronic *** 2020,488 such areas had been set up across China,surpassing the initial target and covering a significant proportion of counties and *** report highlights the successful implementation of these strategies in Lishan district,Anshan city,where demonstration areas for comprehensive prevention and control of chronic diseases were launched in *** the course of seven years,the number of healthy units increased substantially,leading to improvements in managing risk factors for CVD among *** reductions in prevalence rates of overweight,obesity,smoking,passive smoking,and drinking were observed,along with the development of healthier behaviors among ***,Qiaokou district in Wuhan City,designated as a national demonstration area in 2014,implemented comprehensive public health promotion ***,special clinics for hypertension intervention were established,contributing to an increase in self-reported rates of hypertension,a slight decrease in prevalence,and a remarkable improvement in the control rate among treated ***,these efforts underscore the effectiveness of community-based approaches in driving positive health outcomes and advancing the comprehensive prevention and control of chronic diseases,particularly cardiovascular diseases,in China.

Background The PACS gene family has been demonstrated to be related to intracellular vesicular *** phenotypic manifestations caused by the pathogenic variants of PACS include epilepsy,intellectual disability/developmental delay,and malformations,such as facial *** We identified seven new cases with pathogenic or likely pathogenic PACS variants using next-generation *** information obtained from these patients was analyzed along with that obtained from previously reported *** With the inclusion of the newly diagnosed cases in this study,103 cases with PACS gene family-related neurological diseases were reported,of which 43 were PACS2-related cases and the remaining were PACSI-related *** patients had seizures,which have been reported to be effectively controlled by several types of anti-seizure medications(ASMs).The most efficacious and frequently prescribed ASMs included sodium valproate(43.3%,13/30),oxcarbazepine/carbamazepine(26.7%,8/30),and levetiracetam(20%,6/30).Almost all patients had intellectual disability/developmental *** most common pathogenic missense variants were PACSI ***203Trp and PACS2 *** addition,we report a patient carrying a likely pathogenic copy number variation(CNV)(de novo heterozygous deletion of chr14:105821380-106107443,286 kilobase,destroyed part of the furin-binding region domain and the protein structure after it)with more severe and refractory late-onset *** The clinical phenotypes of the different PACS heterozygous missense variants were *** pathogenic variant sites of PACSI and PACS2 were quite limited but located in different regions.A CNV destroying part of the PACS2 gene might also be *** findings may provide an important clue for further functional studies on the pathogenic mechanism of neurological disorders related to the PACS gene family.

The irregular defects and residual tumor tissue after surgery are challenges for effective breast cancer ***,a smart hydrogel with self-adaptable size and dual responsive cargos release was fabricated to treat breast cancer via accurate tumor elimination,on-demand adipose tissue regeneration and effective infection *** hydrogel consisted of thiol groups ended polyethylene glycol(SH-PEG-SH)and doxorubicin encapsulated mesoporous silica nanocarriers(DOX@MSNs)double crosslinked hyaluronic acid(HA)after loading of antibacterial peptides(AP)and adipose-derived stem cells(ADSCs).A pH-cleavable unsaturated amide bond was pre-introduced between MSNs and HA frame to perform the tumor-specific acidic environment dependent DOX@MSNs release,meanwhile an esterase degradable glyceryl dimethacrylate cap was grafted on MSNs,which contributed to the selective chemotherapy in tumor cells with over-expressed *** bond cleavage between MSNs and HA would also cause the swelling of the hydrogel,which not only provide sufficient space for the growth of ADSCs,but allows the hydrogel to fully fill the irregular defects generated by surgery and residual tumor atrophy,resulting in the on-demand regeneration of adipose ***,the sustained release of AP could be simultaneously triggered along with the size change of hydrogel,which further avoided bacterial infection to promote tissue regeneration.
