Polymer: Non-fullerene acceptor heterojunction-based phototransistor for short-wave infrared photodetection

It remains full of challenge for extending short-wave infrared(SWIR)spectral response and weak-light detection in the context of broad spectral responses for *** this work,a novel poly(2,5-bis(4-hexyldodecyl)-2,5-dihydro-3,6-di-2-thienyl-pyrrolo[3,4-c]pyrrole-1,4-dione-alt-thiophene)(PDPPT3-HDO):COTIC-4F organic bulk-heterojunction is prepared as active layer for bulk heterojunction ***3-HDO serves as a hole transport material,while COTIC-4F enhances the absorption of SWIR light to 1020 *** a result,smooth and connected PDPPT3-HDO film is fabricated by blade coating method and exhibits high hole mobility up to 2.34 cm^(2)·V^(-1)·s^(-1) with a current on/off ratio of 4.72×10^(5) in organic thin film ***3-HDO:COTIC-4F heterojunction phototransistors exhibit high responsivity of 2680 A·W^(-1) to 900 nm and 815 A·W^(-1) to 1020 nm,with fast response time(rise time~20 ms and fall time~100 ms).The photosensitivity of the heterojunction phototransistor improves as the mass ratio of non-fullerene acceptors increases,resulting in an approximately two orders of magnitude enhancement compared to the bare polymer ***,the phototransistor exhibits decent responsivity even under ultra-weak light power of 43μW·cm^(-2) to 1020 *** work represents a highly effective and general strategy for fabricating efficient and sensitive SWIR light photodetectors.

Although neuroelectrochemical sensing technology offers unique benefits for neuroscience research,its application is limited by substantial interference in complex brain environments while ensuring biosafety *** this study,we introduced poly(3-hexylthiophene)(P3HT)and nitrogen-doped multiwalled carbon nanotubes(N-MWCNTs)to construct a composite membrane-modified carbon fiber microelectrode(CFME/P3HT-N-MWCNTs)for ascorbic acid(AA)*** microelectrode presented good linearity,selectivity,stability,antifouling,and biocompatibility and exhibited great performance for application in neuroelectrochemical ***,we applied CFME/P3HT-N-MWCNTs to monitor AA release from in vitro nerve cells,ex vivo brain slices,and in vivo living rat brains and determined that glutamate can induce cell edema and AA *** also found that glutamate activated the N-methyl-d-aspartic acid receptor,which enhanced Na^(+) and Cl^(−) inflow to induce osmotic stress,resulting in cytotoxic edema and ultimately AA *** study is the first to observe the process of glutamate-induced brain cytotoxic edema with AA release and to reveal the *** work can benefit the application of P3HT in in vivo implant microelectrode construction to monitor neurochemicals,understand the molecular basis of nervous system diseases,and discover certain biomarkers of brain diseases.

Beam and image experiment of beam deflection electron gun for distributed X-ray sources

Distributed X-ray sources comprise a single vacuum chamber containing multiple X-ray sources that are triggered and emit X-rays at a specific time and location. This process facilitates an application for innovative system concepts in X-ray and computer tomography. This paper proposes a novel electron beam focusing, shaping,and deflection electron gun for distributed X-ray *** electron gun uses a dispenser cathode as an electron emitter, a mesh grid to control emission current, and two electrostatic lenses for beam shaping, focusing, and deflection. Novel focusing and deflecting electrodes were designed to increase the number of focal spots in the distributed source. Two identical half-rectangle opening electrodes are controlled by adjusting the potential of the two electrodes to control the electron beam trajectory, and then, multifocal spots are obtained on the anode target. The electron gun can increase the spatial density of the distributed X-ray sources, thereby improving the image quality. The beam experimental results show that the focal spot sizes of the deflected(deflected amplitude 10.5 mm)and non-deflected electron beams at full width at half maximum are 0.80 mm 90.50 mm and 0.55 mm 90.40 mm, respectively(anode voltage 160 kV; beam current 30 mA). The imaging experimental results demonstrate the excellent spatial resolution and time resolution of an imaging system built with the sources, which has an excellent imaging effect on a field-programmable gate array chip and a rotating metal disk.

The mean properties and variations of the Southern Hemisphere subpolar gyres estimated by Simple Ocean Data Assimilation(SODA) products

Based on the Simple Ocean Data Assimilation （SODA） products, we study the mean properties and variations of the Southern Hemisphere subpolar gyres （SHSGs） in this paper. The results show that the gyre strengths in the SODA estimates are （55.9±9.8）×108 ma/s for the Weddell Gyre （WG）, （37.0±6.4） ×106 ma/s for the Ross Gyre （RG）, and （27.5±8.2）x 106 ma/s for the Australian-Antarctic Gyre （AG）, respectively. There exists distinct connectivity between the adjacent gyres and then forms an oceanic super gyre structure in the southern subpolar oceans. And the interior exchanges are about （8.0±3.2）× 106 ma/s at around 70°E and （4.3±3.1）× 106 m3/s at around 140°E. The most pronounced variation for all three SHSGs occurs on the seasonal time scale, with generally stronger （weaker） SHSGs during austral winter （summer）. And the seasonal changes of the gyre structures show that the eastern boundary of the WG and AG extends considerably further east during winter and the interior exchange in the super gyre structure increases accordingly. The WG and RG also show significant semi-annual changes. The correlation analyses confirm that the variations of the gyre strengths are strongly correlated with the changes in the local wind forcing on the semi-annual and seasonal time scales.

Ca^(2+) signaling initiated by canonical transient receptor potential channels in dendritic development

The spatial patterns of dendritic structures diverge in different types of neurons as adaptations to their unique functions. Although different intracellular mechanisms underlying dendritic morphogenesis have been suggested, it is evident that the elevation in intracellular Ca2＋ levels plays a major role in the process. Canonical transient receptor potential （TRPC） channels, known to be non-selective Ca2＋-permeable cation channels, act as environmental detectors to sense and transduce extracellular signals into different intracellular responses, including the regulation of dendritic growth, via Ca2＋ influx. Here, we review recent advances in the understanding of Ca2＋ signaling, especially signals mediated by Ca2＋ influx via TRPC channels, and the underlying molecular events in dendritic development.

Single molecule fluorescence fluctuations of the cyanine dyes linked covalently to DNA

The intersystem crossing and isomerization dynamics of free-Cy3,Cy3-ssDNA,free-Cy5 and Cy5-ssDNA are obtained through simple analysis of rapid on/off blinking from single molecule fluorescence intensity time-traces and the fluorescence correlation spectroscopy(FCS).The on-and off-times observed in fluorescence time traces of single cyanine dyes are due to the formation of the triplet state and isomerization,where both the interaction with DNA and long central polymethine chain of cyanine dyes increase the barriers of isomerization,leading to long *** results indicate that the single molecule fluorescence fluctuation together with the resulting second autocorrelation analysis are powerful methods for determining the triplet state and isomerization dynamics,which could be the simple techniques and complementary to other spectroscopic techniques,such as fluorescence decay measurement and laser flash photolysis to study the photophysical processes of complex molecules.

Critical fluctuations upon photoinduced phase transition in manganite strips

Light,acting as an external stimulus to induce various intriguing phenomena ranging from photovoltaics to photoinduced catalysis,exerts prominent effects in strongly correlated *** would be of particular interest to investigate photon-induced emerging phenomena in spatially confined strongly correlated systems,which are important for applications of these materials in future electronic *** magnetoresistive manganites materials offer an ideal platform for such study due to their sensitivity to ***,we fabricated 900 nm wide La_(0.325)Pr_(0.3)Ca_(0.375)Mn O_3strips,whose width is comparable to the size of the electronic phase separation(EPS)domains in this *** observed the photoinduced critical fluctuations in the strips,where abrupt resistivity jumps occurred upon photoinduced phase transition depending sensitively on the light *** on the microscopic views of the EPS domains under photoexcitation,we conclude that such photo-induced resistivity fluctuations originate from the photoinduced phase fluctuations of individual EPS domains when their size becomes comparable to the strip width.

Energy-Efficient Resource Allocation for Small-Cell Networks：A Stable Queue Perspective

The small-cell technology is promising for spectral-efficiency enhancement. However, it usually requires a huge amount of energy consumption. In this paper, queue state information and channel state information are jointly utilized to minimize the time average of overall energy consumption for a multi-carrier small-cell network, where the inter-cell interference is an intractable problem. Based on the Lyapunov optimization theory, the problem could be solved by dynamically optimizing the problem of user assignment, carrier allocation and power allocation in each time slot. As the optimization problem is NP-hard, we propose a heuristic iteration algorithm to solve it. Numerical results verify that the heuristic algorithm offers an approximate performance as the brute-force algorithm. Moreover, it could bring down the overall energy consumption to different degrees according to the variation of traffic load. Meanwhile, it could achieve the same sum rate as the algorithm which focuses on maximizing system sum rate.

Anharmonic Vibrational Signatures of DNA Bases and Watson-Crick Base Pairs

Changes of molecular structure and associated charge distributions, and changes of anharmonic vibrational parameters from DNA base monomers to the Watson-Crick base pairs, have been investigated at the density functional theory level. Through examination of the NH2, N H, and C=O stretching vibrational modes that are involved in the multiple H-bonds in the base pairs, sensitivity of their diagonal and off-diagonal anharmonicities, as well as anharmonic vibrational couplings, to the structure change are predicted. Our results reveal the intrinsic connection between the anharmonic vibrational potentials, H-bonding, and electrostatic interactions in DNA bases.

Protosappanin A exerts anti-neuroinflammatory effect by inhibiting JAK2-STAT3 pathway in lipopolysaccharide-induced BV2 microglia

Microglial activation and resultant neuroinflammatory response are implicated in various brain diseases including Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. Treatment with anti-neuroinflammatory agents could provide therapeutic benefits for such disorders. Protosappanin A(PTA) is a major bioactive ingredient isolated from Caesalpinia sappan L.. In this work, the anti-neuroinflammatory effects of PTA on LPS-stimulated BV2 cells were investigated and the underlying mechanisms were explored. Results showed that PTA significantly inhibited the production of TNF-α and IL-1β in LPS-activated BV2 microglia. Moreover, the mR NA expressions of IL-6, IL-1β, and MCP-1 were reduced by PTA in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, PTA suppressed JAK2/STAT3-dependent inflammation pathway through down-regulating the phosphorylation of JAK2 and STAT3, as well as STAT3 nuclear translocation against LPS treatment. These observations suggested a novel role for PTA in regulating LPS-induced neuroinflammatory injuries.
