Interactive DE for solving combined security environmental economic dispatch considering FACTS technology

This paper presents an efficient interactive differential evolution ODE） to solve the multi-objective security environmental/economic dispatch （SEED） pro- blem considering multi shunt flexible AC transmission system （FACTS） devices. Two sub problems are proposed. The first one is related to the active power planning to minimize the combined total fuel cost and emissions, while the second is a reactive power planning （RPP） using multi shunt FACTS device based static VAR compensator （SVC） installed at specified buses to make fine corrections to the voltage deviation, voltage phase profiles and reactive power violation. The migration operation inspired from biogeography-based optimization （BBO） algorithm is newly introduced in the proposed approach, thereby effectively exploring and exploiting promising regions in a space search by creating dynamically new efficient partitions. This new mechanism based migration between individuals from different subsystems makes the initial partitions to react more by changing experiences. To validate the robustness of the proposed approach, the proposed algorithm is tested on the Algerian 59-bus electrical network and on a large system, 40 generating units considering valve-point loading effect. Comparison of the results with recent global optimization methods show the superiority of the proposed IDE approach and confirm its potential for solving practical optimal power flow in terms of solution quality and convergence characteristics.

Self-supervised Learning for Speech Emotion Recognition Task Using Audio-visual Features and Distil Hubert Model on BAVED and RAVDESS Databases

Existing pre-trained models like Distil HuBERT excel at uncovering hidden patterns and facilitating accurate recognition across diverse data types, such as audio and visual information. We harnessed this capability to develop a deep learning model that utilizes Distil HuBERT for jointly learning these combined features in speech emotion recognition (SER). Our experiments highlight its distinct advantages: it significantly outperforms Wav2vec 2.0 in both offline and real-time accuracy on RAVDESS and BAVED datasets. Although slightly trailing HuBERT’s offline accuracy, Distil HuBERT shines with comparable performance at a fraction of the model size, making it an ideal choice for resource-constrained environments like mobile devices. This smaller size does come with a slight trade-off: Distil HuBERT achieved notable accuracy in offline evaluation, with 96.33% on the BAVED database and 87.01% on the RAVDESS database. In real-time evaluation, the accuracy decreased to 79.3% on the BAVED database and 77.87% on the RAVDESS database. This decrease is likely a result of the challenges associated with real-time processing, including latency and noise, but still demonstrates strong performance in practical scenarios. Therefore, Distil HuBERT emerges as a compelling choice for SER, especially when prioritizing accuracy over real-time processing. Its compact size further enhances its potential for resource-limited settings, making it a versatile tool for a wide range of applications.

To enhance the robustness and dynamic performance of a self-excited induction generator (SEIG) used in a stand-alone wind energy system (WES), a virtual flux oriented control (VFOC) based on nonlinear super-twisting sliding mode control (STSMC) is adopted. STSMC is used to replace the conventional proportional-integral-Fuzzy Logic Controller (PI-FLC) of the inner current control loops. The combination of the proposed control strategy with space vector modulation (SVM) applied to a PWM rectifier brings many advantages such as reduction in harmonics, and precise and rapid tracking of the references. The performance of the proposed control technique (STSMC-VFOC-SVM) is verified through simulations and compared with the traditional technique (PI-FLC-VFOC-SVM). It shows that the proposed method improves the dynamics of the system with reduced current harmonics. In addition, the use of a virtual flux estimator instead of a phase-locked loop (PLL) eliminates the line voltage sensors and thus increases the reliability of the system.

In this work, we conduct a study of modeling and simulation of a system in the context of renewable energy in general, and solar system “photovoltaic” in particular;also, the optimizing system adapted by DC-DC converters static. Then the influence of temperature and irradiance on the optimal parameters (Power of MPP, VMPP, ...) of a solar system is analyzed in a way to operate a PV generator at its maximum power. This system includes a photovoltaic generator, “Boost & Buck”, converter and a load. Modeling and simulation system (solar panel, DC-DC converter command and load) is obtained through Matlab-Simulink software.

An Optimized Offloaded Task Execution for Smart Cities Applications

Wireless nodes are one of the main components in different applications that are offered in a smart *** wireless nodes are responsible to execute multiple tasks with different priority *** the wireless nodes have limited processing capacity,they offload their tasks to cloud servers if the number of tasks exceeds their task processing *** these tasks from remotely placed cloud servers causes a significant delay which is not required in sensitive task *** execution delay is reduced by placing fog computing nodes near these application nodes.A fog node has limited processing capacity and is sometimes unable to execute all the requested *** this work,an optimal task offloading scheme that comprises two algorithms is proposed for the fog nodes to optimally execute the time-sensitive offloaded *** first algorithm describes the task processing criteria for local computation of tasks at the fog nodes and remote computation at the cloud *** second algorithm allows fog nodes to optimally scrutinize the most sensitive tasks within their task *** results show that the proposed task execution scheme significantly reduces the execution time and most of the time-sensitive tasks are executed.

A Cryptographic-Based Approach for Electricity Theft Detection in Smart Grid

In order to strengthen their security issues,electrical companies devote particular efforts to developing and enhancing their fraud detection techniques that cope with the information and communication technologies integration in smart grid *** been treated earlier by several researchers,various detection schemes adapted from attack models that benefit from the smart grid topologies weaknesses,aiming primarily to the identification of suspicious incoming *** meshes have been extensively used in smart grid communication architectures due to their facility,lightness of conception and low cost installation;however,the communicated packets are still exposed to be intercepted maliciously in order either to falsify pertinent information like the smart meter readings,or to inject false data instead,aiming at electricity theft during the communication *** this reason,this paper initiates a novel method based on RSA cryptographic algorithm to detect electricity fraud in smart *** new method consists of generating two different cryptograms of one electricity measurement before sending,after which the recipient is used to find the same value after decrypting the two cyphers in a normal ***,a fraudulent manipulation could occur during the transmission *** presented method allows us to kill two birds with one ***,satisfactory outcomes are shown:the algorithm accuracy reaches 100%,from one hand,and the privacy is protected thanks to the cryptology concept on the other hand.

Template synthesis of copper azide primary explosive through Cu2O@HKUST-1 core-shell composite prepared by “bottle around ship” method

Copper azide(CA), as a primary explosive with high energy density, has not been practically used so far because of its high electrostatic sensitivity. The Cu2O@HKUST-1 core-shell structure hybrid material was synthesized by the “bottle around ship” methodology in this research by regulating the dissolution rate of Cu2O and the generation rate of metal-organic framework(MOF) materials. Cu2O@HKUST-1 was carbonized to form a Cu O@porous carbon(CuO@PC) composite material. CuO@PC was synthesized into a copper azide(CA) @PC composite energetic material through a gas-solid phase in-situ azidation *** is encapsulated in PC framework, which acts as a nanoscale Faraday cage, and its excellent electrical conductivity prevents electrostatic charges from accumulating on the energetic material’s surface. The CA@PC composite energetic material has a CA content of 89.6%, and its electrostatic safety is nearly 30times that of pure CA(1.47 mJ compared to 0.05 mJ). CA@PC delivers an outstanding balance of safety and energy density compared to similar materials.

Hypo-Driver: A Multiview Driver Fatigue and Distraction Level Detection System
