CFD-DEM study on the synergistic effect of coke consumption and particle dynamics in the blast furnace raceway

In this study,the gas-solid flow process in the blast furnace raceway is numerically simulated using coupled computational fluid dynamics and the discrete element method(CFD-DEM).The coke reaction kinetics data are imported into the DEM model to reproduce the consumption process of each coke *** effects of inlet gas velocity and angle on the morphology of the raceway,coke consumption rate,coke bed temperature,and particle size distribution in the blast process are systematically investigated and *** results show that the consumption of coke particles promotes the formation of raceways during the blast *** the same time,a coke mixture layer is produced at the edge of the *** higher the inlet gas velocity,the thicker the coke mixture layer in the middle and upper parts of the raceway region,and the larger the proportion of small particles in the coke mixture *** effect of the inlet gas angle on the raceway region is less than the inlet gas ***,with the increase in the inlet gas angle,the high-temperature region of the coke bed extends downward gradually,which is conducive to activating the hearth.

In 2021,China updated its nationally determined contributions(NDCs)under the Paris Agreement,which prompts a more accurate mea-surement of its emissions inventory and a reasonable pathway toward carbon neutrality by *** study reviews the estimates using the bottom-up emissions factor method or the top-down atmospheric CO_(2) concentration inversion method to derive China's CO_(2) emissions inventory and finds that CO_(2) emissions from energy combustion and industrial processes in Chinese mainland range from 11.3-12.0 GtCO_(2) in *** on a comprehensive review of pathways proposed by domestic and international studies and an analysis of the origins of their differences,we proposed the Tsinghua-CMA pathway that coordinates the 2℃global temperature rise control target with China's current CO_(2) emissions status and mitigation *** pathway requires China's CO_(2) emissions to peak around 2028-2029 at about 12.8 GtCO_(2),then decline steadily to about 11.2 GtCO_(2) in 2035,3.6 GtCO_(2) in 2050,and 0.9 GtCO_(2) in *** to a reference scenario without updated NDCs,this pathway would result in an economic cost of about 0.9%cumulative GDP between 2020 and 2060,only 1/4-1/3 of the cost associated with pathways that align with the 1.5℃*** recommended that China improves emissions accounting by cross-validating bottom-up and top-down approaches and regularly updating the pathway toward carbon neutrality while maintaining consistency with its evolving CO_(2) emissions inventory,policy trends,and global CO_(2) emission budget updates.

carbon emission accounting is an important basis for global climate *** on the consumption-based accounting(CBA)method,the characteristics of carbon flow between national,regional,and product processes could be more clearly ***,CBA is more conducive to clarifying the attribution of responsibilities between producers and consumers,with the principles of fairness and *** accounting for carbon emissions in typical countries from 1990 to 2019,we found that the CBA emissions are higher than the production-based accounting(PBA)emissions in major developed countries,while the results are reversed for developing *** the past 30 years,the CBA emissions in targeted developed countries generally have shown a downward trend,while in developing countries,they have shown an upward *** emissions in China have shown a continuous growth trend from 1990 to 2019,but the pace has slowed down significantly over the last ***,the embodied carbon intensity of China’s exports continues to decline,indicating that China is providing more green and low-carbon products to the *** the PV industry as an example,this study further reveals the contribution of specific product industries to the country’s carbon transfer through product carbon footprint *** order to provide a scientific basis for global mitigation and climate governance,it is urgent to innovate a scientific,practical,and standardized CBA technology system.

The feasibility of manufacturing Ti-6Al-4V samples through a combination of laser-aided additive manufacturing with powder(LAAM_(p))and wire(LAAM_(w))was explored.A process study was first conducted to successfully circumvent defects in Ti-6Al-4V deposits for LAAM_(p) and LAAM_(w),*** the optimized process parameters,robust interfaces were achieved between powder/wire deposits and the forged substrate,as well as between powder and wire *** characterization results revealed the epitaxial prior β grains in the deposited Ti-6Al-4V,wherein the powder deposit was dominated by a finerα′microstructure and the wire deposit was characterized by lamellar α *** mechanisms of microstructure formation and correlation with mechanical behavior were analyzed and *** mechanical properties of the interfacial samples can meet the requirements of the relevant Aerospace Material Specifications(AMS 6932)even without post heat *** fracture occurred within the interfacial area,further suggesting the robust *** findings of this study highlighted the feasibility of combining LAAM_(p) and LAAM_(w) in the direct manufacturing of Ti-6Al-4V parts in accordance with the required dimensional resolution and deposition rate,together with sound strength and ductility balance in the as-built condition.

In order to predict the damage behaviours of 3D-printed continuous carbon fibre(CCF)reinforced composites,when additional short carbon fibre(SCF)composite components are employed for continuous printing or special functionality,a novel path-dependent progressive failure(PDPF)numerical approach is ***,a progressive failure model using Hashin failure criteria with continuum damage mechanics to account for the damage initiation and evaluation of 3D-printed CCF reinforced polyamide(PA)composites is developed,based on actual fibre placement trajectories with physical measurements of 3D-printed CCF/PA ***,an elastic-plastic model is employed to predict the plastic damage behaviours of SCF/PA ***,the accuracy of the PDPF model was validated so as to study 3D-printed CCF/PA composites with either negative Poisson's ratio or high *** results demonstrate that the proposed PDPF model can achieve higher prediction accuracies in mechanical properties of these 3D-printed CCF/PA *** analyses show that the stress distribution is generally aggregated in the CCF areas along the fibre placement paths,and the shear damage and matrix tensile/compressive damage are the key damage *** study provides a new approach with valuable information for characterising complex 3D-printed continuous fibre-matrix composites with variable mechanical properties and multiple constituents.

There is an ocean current in the actual underwater working environment. An improved self-organizing neural network task allocation model of multiple autonomous underwater vehicles(AUVs) is proposed for a three-dimensional underwater workspace in the ocean current. Each AUV in the model will be competed, and the shortest path under an ocean current and different azimuths will be selected for task assignment and path planning while guaranteeing the least total consumption. First, the initial position and orientation of each AUV are determined. The velocity and azimuths of the constant ocean current are determined. Then the AUV task assignment problem in the constant ocean current environment is considered. The AUV that has the shortest path is selected for task assignment and path planning. Finally, to prove the effectiveness of the proposed method, simulation results are given.

Air pollution has been a severe issue in *** to PM_(2.5)has adverse health effects and causes economic *** study investigated the economic impact of exposure to PM_(2.5)pollution using monthly city-level data covering 88.3 million urban employees in 2016 and *** study mainly focused on three expenditure indicators to measure the economic impact considering lower respiratory infections(LRIs),coronary heart disease(CHD),and *** results show that a 10μg/m3 increase in PM_(2.5)would cause total monthly expenses of LRIs,CHD,and stroke to increase by 0.226%,0.237%,and 0.374%,*** also found that LRI,CHD,and stroke hospital admissions increased significantly by 10%,8.42%,and 5.64%,***,the total hospital stays of LRIs,CHDs,and strokes increased by 2.49%,2.51%,and 1.64%,*** findings also suggest heterogeneous impacts of PM2s exposures by sex and across regions,but no statistical evidence shows significant differences between the older and younger adult *** results provide several policy implications for reducing unequal public health expenditures in overpolutedcountries.

Passive dynamic walking has been developed as a possible explanation for the efficiency of the human gait. This paper presents a passive dynamic walking model with segmented feet, which makes the bipedal walking gait more close to natural human-like gait. The proposed model extends the simplest walking model with the addition of fiat feet and torsional spring based compliance on ankle joints and toe joints, to achieve stable walking on a slope driven by gravity. The push-off phase includes foot rotations around the toe joint and around the toe tip, which shows a great resemblance to human normal walking. This paper investigates the effects of the segmented foot structure on bipedal walking in simulations. The model achieves satisfactory walking results on even or uneven slopes.

Metamaterials with simple artificial topological properties made from industrially produced single-phase materials have extraordinary innovation and *** this paper,we investigated wave propagation characteristics of a hexastarchiral lattice metamaterial with periodic assemblies and used the finite element(FE)method to study the band gap ***,in order to understand the mechanism of band gaps,we discussed the mode shapes of unit cells and found that the bending of the ligament and the overall rotation have a high correlation with the generation of omnidirectional band *** relationships bet ween geometric parameters and band gap properties have also been systematically studied,which demonstrated that the band gaps of the proposed metamaterial could be reasonably predicted through the evolution of geometric ***,the transmission characteristics of finite sandwich panel structures composed of periodic unit cells were calculated to verify the correctness of the band gap simulation results,which proved that the proposed artificial metastructure has potential application value in vibration and noise reduction projects.
