Characteristics of Early Afterdepolarization in Mouse Atrial Fibers

Early afterdepolarization (EAD) in mouse atrial fibers was investigated under the treatment with aconitine, 3. 0 mmol/L K+ ,quinidine, ryanodine or Bay k 8644. All of these EADs possessed the following common characteristics j all the parameters of EAD showed cycle length-dependence; take-off potential of the first triggered burst played an important role in the generation of the other parameters ; hyper-polarization of the triggered brust enhanced the end of EAD; and the second plateau response might be used as an indicator of the capability of EAD generation of myocardiac cell. All those EADs were inhibited or abolished by nifedipine, tetrodotoxin or lidocaine. Potassium channel activators, lemakalim, thalium ion, acetyl-choline or high potassium could also inhibit or abolish the EADs. It is suggested that the EADs induced by different agents may base on a common mechanism ; all currents contributing to the plateau phase of the action potential play an important role in the generation of EAD.

ZnO microrods are synthesized using the vapor phase transport method, and the magnetron sputtering is used to decorate the A1 nanoparticles （NPs） on a single ZnO microrod. The micro-PL and I-V responses are measured before and after the decoration orAl NPs. The FDTD stimulation is also carried out to demonstrate the optical field distribution around the decoration of Al NPs on the surface of a ZnO microrod. Due to an implementation of AI NPs, the ZnO microrod exhibits an improved photoresponse behavior. In addition, AI NPs induced localized surface plasmons （LSPs） as well as improved optical field confinement can be ascribed to an enhancement of ultraviolet （UV） response. This research provides a method for improving the responsivity of photodetectors.

Current-voltage （l-V） characteristics of hydrogen DC plasma torches with different sizes in an external axial magnetic field under atmospheric pressure are reported. Three anodes with different diameters are adopted in a 50-kW torch： 25 mm, 30 mm, and 35 nun, respectively. Two different diameters of anodes, that is, 100 mm and 130 mm, are adopted in a 1-MW plasma torch. The arc voltage shows a negative trend with the increase of arc current under the operating regimes. On the contrary, arc voltage shows a positive trend as the flow rate of carder gas increases, and a similar trend is found with increasing the external magnetic flux density. A similarity formula is constructed to correlate the experimental data of the torches mentioned above. Linear fitting shows that the Pearson correlation coefficient is 0.9958.

Leaf senescence is the final leaf developmental process that is regulated by both intracellular factors and environmental conditions. The mitogen-activated protein kinase（MAPK） signaling cascades have been shown to play important roles in regulating leaf senescence; however, the component（s） downstream of the MAPK cascades in regulating leaf senescence are not fully understood. Here we showed that the transcriptions of Zm MEK1, Zm SIMK1, and Zm MPK3 were induced during dark-induced maize leaf ***, in-gel kinase analysis revealed the 42 k Da MAPK was activated. Zm MEK1 interacted with Zm SIMK1 in yeast and maize mesophyll protoplasts and Zm SIMK1 was activated by Zm MEK1 in vitro. Expression of a dominant negative mutant of Zm MEK1 in Arabidopsis transgenic plants induced salicylic acid（SA） accumulation and SA-dependent leaf *** MEK1 interacted with Arabidopsis MPK4 in yeast and High-Im pact activated MPK4 in vitro. SA treatment accelerated darkinduced maize leaf senescence. Moreover, blockage of MAPK signaling increased endogenous SA accumulation in maize leaves. These findings suggest that Zm MEK1-Zm SIMK1 cascade and its modulating SA levels play important roles in regulating leaf senescence.

Maize （Zea mays） is the most widely grown grain crop in the world, playing important roles in agriculture and industry. However, the functions of maize genes remain largely unknown. High-quality genome- wide transcriptome datasets provide important biological knowledge which has been widely and suc- cessfully used in plants not only by measuring gene expression levels but also by enabling co-expression analysis for predicting gene functions and modules related to agronomic traits. Recently, thousands of maize transcriptomic data are available across different inbred lines, development stages, tissues, and treatments, or even across different tissue sections and cell lines. Here, we integrated 701 transcriptomic and 108 epigenomic data and studied the different conditional networks with multi-dimensional omics levels. We constructed a searchable, integrative, one-stop online platform, the maize conditional co- expression network （MCENet） platform. MCENet provides 10 global/conditional co-expression net- works, 5 network accessional analysis toolkits （i.e., Network Search, Network Remodel, Module Finder, Network Comparison, and Dynamic Expression View） and multiple network functional support toolkits （e.g., motif and module enrichment analysis）. We hope that our database might help plant research communities to identify maize functional genes or modules that regulate important agronomic traits.

The epitope ELDKWA, which is located in the membrane-proximal external region （MPER） of HIV-1 gp41, is an important neutralizing epitope. The human monoclonal antibody （mAb） 2F5 against this epitope shows broad neutralizing activity toward many HIV strains. However, several reports have shown that the epitope-specific mAbs induced by peptides containing MPER did not exhibit the same neutralizing activities as human mAb 2F5. In this study, four ELDKWA epitope specific mAbs （9E7, 7E10, 6B5, and 2B4） induced by immunization with the ELDKWA epitope in varied molecular contexts, all showed inhibitory activi- ties with different potencies in HIV-1 Env-mediated membrane fusion assays and pseudovirus neutralization assays. This result indicates that though these antibodies recognize the epitope ELDKWA, their characteri- zations differ from that of neutralizing antibodies, implying that the neutralizing mAbs can be induced but also need to be screened, and the protective ability of a related vaccine antigen depends on the concentra- tion of the neutralizing mAbs in the induced polyclonal antibodies.

Inspired by sophisticated biological structures and their physiological processes, supramolecular chemistry has been developed for understanding and mimicking the behaviors of natural species. Through spontaneous self-assembly of functional building blocks, we are able to control the structures and regulate the functions of resulting supramolecular assemblies. Up to now, numerous functional supramolecular assemblies have been constructed and successfully employed as molecular devices, machines and biological diagnostic platforms. This review will focus on molecular structures of functional molecular building blocks and their assembled superstructures for biological detection and delivery.

The purpose of this study was to explore the variations in the circulating leptin concentrations of the wild ground squirrels in relation to seasonal changes in testicular ***-eosin staining showed all types of elongated spermatids and spermatogenic cells existed in the testis in April,while the primary spermatocytes and spermatogonia were most advanced stages of germ cells in *** addition,the primary spermatocytes,secondary spermatocytes,and spermatogonia were most advanced stages of germ cells in *** highest circulating leptin concentration was consistent with the maximum body weight results from accumulation of adipose tissue in *** mRNA expression level of leptin receptor(Ob-R)and STAT3 was lowest in June,raised in September,and remained increased in ***-R and STAT3 were stronger staining in the Leydig cells in ***,the concentrations of testosterone(T)showed the maximum values in April,the minimum values in June,and signiﬁcant increases in ***,it is worth noting that the levels of T increased with the mRNA levels of Ob-R,STAT3,StAR,and testicular steroidogenic enzymes(3β-HSD,P450c17,and P450scc).Moreover,RNA-seq analyses of testis during the different periods showed that a total of 4209 genes were differ-entially expressed genes(DEGs);further analysis revealed that DEGs related with the Jak/STAT pathways and reproduction were *** together,the results suggested that the leptin regulated testicular function through the Jak/STAT pathways and testicular steroidogenic factor expressions.

Point-of-care (POC) diagnostics, which aims at continuously measuring and screening dynamic chemical signals in human body, is attracting increasing attention among disease treatment,diagnosis, drug discovery and other biomedical fields (1,2)Recent years have witnessed the booming development of miniaturized,minimal-invasive POC technologies, such as implanted electrochemicalsensors [3,4], paper chips [5,6] and microfluidic devices[7–9]. Among them, microfluidics is one of the most promisingstrategy due to the accurate and user-friendly properties. However,most of the microfluidic POC devices are manually intensive andhighly rely on bulky laboratory equipment such as syringe pumps,external valves and microscopes, which not only limit their applicationsin wearable devices, but also hinder their moving out oflaboratory and into practical use [10,11]. These problems remainunsolved until now.
