Finite-temperature ductility-brittleness and electronic structures of Al_(3)Sc,Al_(2)Sc and AlSc are studied comparatively by first-principles calculations and ab initio molecular *** show that Al_(3)Sc and Al_(2)Sc are brittle at both ground state and finite temperatures,while AlSc possesses a significantly superior *** ground state,AlSc is ductile from Pugh's and Poisson's criteria,while it is brittle in Pettifor's *** ductility of all Al_(3)Sc,Al_(2)Sc and AISc improves greatly with the elevated ***,the Cauchy pressure of AlSc undergoes a transition from negative to *** T>600 K,AlSc is unequivocally classified as ductile from all criteria *** all compounds,the Al-Al bond originated from s-p and p-p orbital hybridizations,and the Al-Sc bond dominated by p-d covalent hybridization,are the first and second strongest chemical bonds,*** explain the difference in mechanical properties,the mean bond strength(mBS)is introduced in this *** weaker Al-Al bond in AlSc,leading to a smaller mBS,could be the origin of the softer elastic stiffness and superior intrinsic *** longer length of the Al-Al bond in AlSc is responsible for its weaker bond ***,the enhanced metallicity of the Al-Al bond in AlSc would also contribute to its exceptional *** longer length of the Al-Al bond in AISc is responsible for its weaker bond ***,the enhanced metallicity of the Al-Al bond in AlSc would also contribute to its exceptional ductility.

This paper investigates the optimal conditions for methanisation applied to cow dung. Four experimental 25 liters digesters were used in this work. The best biogas yield is obtained when the digester is installed in a metal box and exposed to sunlight. The temperature in this digester varied between 25˚C and 37˚C. The dry matter content of the collected cow dung was 15.5%. The digester was fed with 9 kg of cow dung mixed with 8.5 litres of water, one litre of cassava effluent and 200 ml of human urine. After a retention period of 22 days, the biogas obtained was 67% methane and 21% carbon dioxide. The use of human urine and cassava effluent improved the quality of the biogas.

An advantageous porous architecture of electrodes is pivotal in significantly enhancing alkaline water electrolysis(AWE)efficiency by optimizing the mass transport *** effect becomes even more pronounced when aiming to achieve elevated current ***,we employed a rapid and scalable laser texturing process to craft novel multi-channel porous ***,the obtained electrodes exhibit the lowest Tafel slope of 79 mV dec^(-1)(HER)and 49 mV dec^(-1)(OER).As anticipated,the alkaline electrolyzer(AEL)cell incorporating multi-channel porous electrodes(NP-LT30)exhibited a remarkable improvement in cell efficiency,with voltage drops(from 2.28 to 1.97 V)exceeding 300 mV under 1 A cm^(-1),compared to conventional perforated Ni plate *** enhancement mainly stemmed from the employed multi-channel porous structure,facilitating mass transport and bubble dynamics through an innovative convection mode,surpassing the traditional convection ***,the NP-LT30-based AEL cell demonstrated exceptional durability for 300 h under 1.0 A cm^(-2).This study underscores the capability of the novel multi-channel porous electrodes to expedite mass transport in practical AWE applications.

The effects of Co and Fe co-doping Ni-mn-In alloy on the phase stability,lattice parameters,mag-netic properties,and electronic structures are systematically investigated by using the first-principles *** indicate that Fe atoms replace the excess mn2 atoms by direct and indirect coex-istence(Fe→mn 2 and Fe→In→mn2);Co substitutes the Ni atoms by direct substitution(Co→Ni)for the Ni-mn-In *** austenites all exhibit the ferromagnetic(Fm)state for the studied *** Nm martensites are in the ferrimagnetic(FIm-1)state for the Ni_(2)mn_(1.5)In_(0.5),Ni_(2)mn_(1.25)In_(0.5)Fe 0.25,Ni_(1.75)mn_(1.5)In_(0.5)Co_(0.25),and Ni_(1.75)mn_(1.25)In_(0.5)Co_(0.25)Fe 0.25 alloys,while the other compositions are in the Fm *** phase stability of austenite and martensite decreases with increasing Co and Fe co-doping.A magnetic-structural coupling transition occurs at xmn_(1.5)In_(0.5)Co_(0.08)and Ni_(1.91)mn_(1.42)In_(0.5)Co_(0.08)Fe_(0.08)alloys exhibit an A→6m→Nm transformation,accompanied by a magnetic *** Co and Fe are co-doped,the hybridization strength between Co and Fe is greater than that between Co/Fe and *** enhancement of magnetocaloric and elastocaloric effects is favored by larger magnetization difference(△m)and lattice volume change(△V/V_(0)).Based on the calculated phase stability,magneto-structure coupling,△V/V 0 and c/a ratio,one can predict that the Ni_(2)-x mn_(1.5)-y In_(0.5)Co x Fe y alloy with Co content 0≤x≤0.25 and Fe content 0≤y≤0.05 is predicted to have good magneto-controlled functional behavior.

This study highlighted the physical transformation that agri-food products undergo during their drying. This transformation enormously affects the customer’s choice and the profit margin of the dried product promoter. The example of the experimental study of the potato reveals that the product continually changes its dimensions during its drying. The more the product loses its water, the more the dimensions decrease. The results initially showed that the water parameters such as mass or water content decrease according to the drying principle. The dimensions length L., width l and thickness e. decrease following a linear trend whose mathematical equations which describe them are determined using the office tool, excel. This trend has repercussions on the surface and volume parameters which in turn decreases almost linearly with the product’s water content. Note that the coefficient R2 is not always acceptable, confirming the complex nature of the behavior of organic products.

The quality of infant flours used during the weaning age is of great importance in that it conditions the nutritional health of infants and young children. This study aimed to assess the nutritional and sanitary quality of infant flours produced in the city of Ouagadougou. This was a cross-sectional study including 11 out of 25 infant flour production units that gave their consent to partake in the study. In total, 25 infant flour samples have been collected from July to September 2021. The physicochemical and microbiological parameters were determined according to standard methods. The ANOVA analysis of variance showed significant differences between the means of the physico-chemical and the means of the microbiological parameters respectively. The results showed that 60% of proteins and 80% of lipid and total carbohydrate contents were below the authorised limits. The energy values were below the authorised limit in 88% of the cases. All instant infant flours had microbiological loads compliant with Burkinabè standards. As for infant flour to be cooked, 63.64% and 81.82% had satisfactory numbers of total coliforms and faecal coliforms respectively. Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli were detected in these samples with 86.36% of infant formulae having results below the recommended limit. These results show that the infant flours produced in Ouagadougou were somehow of acceptable quality. However, there is a need to improve the formulae for macronutrient contents, energy values and sanitary quality to comply with the recommendations.

Now one of the main cash crops in Côte d’Ivoire, the cashew tree feeds an entire industrial sector based on the processing of its fruit. This processing generates a large volume of waste, consisting of cashew nutshells, the management of which poses environmental problems. With the aim of replacing charcoal and firewood with more environmentally friendly fuels, several studies are currently being carried out into the optimal use of cashew shells in fuel briquettes. To assess the environmental sustainability of these briquettes, this study calculates the environmental impacts associated with their life cycle, compares them with those of charcoal and firewood, and identifies the processes that contribute most to environmental pollution, with a view to improving them. Analysis of the results showed that cashew nutshell briquettes emit a range of pollutants over their life cycle that damage the environment and are responsible for the 7 impact categories considered: acidification, eutrophication, freshwater aquatic ecotoxicity, global warming, human toxicity, photochemical oxidation and terrestrial ecotoxicity potential. However, they are more environmentally friendly than charcoal and firewood for 5 impact categories: freshwater aquatic ecotoxicity, global warming, human toxicity, photochemical oxidation and terrestrial ecotoxicity potential. The 3 elementary processes, i.e. transport of biomass raw materials, production, and combustion of briquettes, emit pollutants that contribute most to the creation of environmental impact categories. The most relevant pollutants are nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulphur oxides (SOx) and particulate matter (Pm).

We have investigated the phase stability,magnetic properties,and martensitic transformation thermodynamics/kinetics of the Ni_(24-x)mn_(18+x+y)Sn_(6-y)(x,y=0,1,2)system by combining the first-principles calculations and *** calculation results show that the optimized lattice parameters are consistent with the experimental ***,we obtain the relation equation for the austenite formation energy(E_(form-A))and mn content(X_(mn)):E_(form-A)=507.358X_(mn)-274.126,as well as for the six-layer modulated(6m)martensite formation energy(E_(form-6m))and Ni content(X_(Ni)):E_(form-6m)=-728.484X_(Ni)+*** ternary phase diagram of the total magnetic moment was *** excess mn will reduce the total magnetic moment of 6m(mag6m)and non-modulated(Nm)(magNm)martensites,with the following equations relating the total magnetic moment and mn content:mag_(6m)=-15.905X_(mn)+7.902and mag_(Nm)=-14.781X_(mn)+7.411,while the effect on austenite is *** variation of total magnetic moment is mainly dominated by the mn atomic magnetic *** 3d electrons of mn_(Sn)(mn at Sn sublattice)play an important role in magnetic properties from the perspective of the electronic density of *** on the thermodynamics of martensitic transformation,the alloys will likely undergo austenite?6m?Nm transformation *** the thermodynamic and kinetic results,the martensitic transformation temperature decreases with x increasing and increases with y *** results are expected to provide reference for predicting the phase stability and magnetic properties of Nimn-Sn alloys.

This study aimed to assess the microbiological quality of tiger nut (Cyperus esculentus L.) products sold in Ouagadougou and Bobo Dioulasso. The microbial load of tubers and tiger nut milk was determined using ISO 4833-1 (2003) standard (total mesophilic aerobic flora), NF ISO 7954 (1998) standard (yeasts and molds), and ISO 4832 (2006) standard (total coliforms, thermotolerant coliforms). The results showed that tiger nut tubers had an average microbial load between 4.86 ± 7.03 × 106 UFC/g and 1.82 ± 2.30 × 107 UFC/g for total mesophilic aerobic flora, from 4.34 ± 10.6 × 105 UFC/g to 3.52 ± 4.54 × 106 UFC/g for yeasts and molds, from 2.23 ± 2.25 × 105 UFC/g to 1.41 ± 2.16 × 105 UFC/g for total coliforms and from 1.83 ± 2.03 × 105 UFC/g to 7.0 ± 10.8 × 104 CFU/g for thermotolerant coliforms. For tiger nut milk samples, the average microbial load varied from 3.48 ± 2.98 × 106 CFU/g to 2.80 ± 5.69 × 107 CFU/g for total mesophilic aerobic flora, from 5.00 ± 7.21 × 104 CFU/g to 1.88 ± 3.31 × 105 CFU/g for yeasts and molds, from 4.58 ± 10.4 × 104 CFU/g to 6.31 ± 9.17 × 105 CFU/g for total coliforms and 7.00 ± 7.00 × 103 CFU/g to 2.87 ± 5.86 × 105 CFU/g for thermotolerant coliforms. This study revealed that the tubers and tiger nut milk sold in Ouagadougou and Bobo Dioulasso had a high microbial load which could lead to the degradation of these products and food poisoning for consumers.
