Liquid metal biomaterials: translational medicines,challenges and perspectives

Until now, significant healthcare challenges and growing urgent clinical requirements remain incompletely addressed by presently availab.e biomedical materials. This is due to their inadequate mechanical compatibility, suboptimal physical and chemical properties, susceptibility to immune rejection, and concerns about long-term biological safety. As an alternative, liquid metal(LM) opens up a promising class of biomaterials with unique advantages like biocompatibility, flexibility, excellent electrical conductivity,and ease of functionalization. However, despite the unique advantages and successful explorations of LM in biomedical fields, widespread clinical translations and applications of LM-based medical products remain limited. This article summarizes the current status and future prospects of LM biomaterials, interprets their applications in healthcare, medical imaging, bone repair, nerve interface, and tumor therapy, *** to translate LM materials into medicine and obstacles encountered in practices are *** that, we outline a blueprint for LM clinics, emphasizing their potential in making new-generation artificial organs. Last, the core challenges of LM biomaterials in clinical translation, including bio-safety,material stability, and ethical concerns are also discussed. Overall, the current progress, translational medicine bottlenecks, and perspectives of LM biomaterials signify their immense potential to drive future medical breakthroughs and thus open up novel avenues for upcoming clinical practices.

Chitosan-based triboelectric materials for self-powered sensing at high temperatures

Although biopolymers have been widely utilized as triboelectric materials for the construction of self-powered sensing systems,the annihilation of triboelectric charges at high temperatures restricts the output signals and sensitivity of the assembled ***,a novel chitosan/montmorillonite/lignin(CML)composite film was designed and employed as a tribopositive layer in the assembly of a self-powered sensing system for use under hot conditions(25-70℃).The dense contact surface resulting from the strong intermolecular interaction between biopolymers and nanofillers restrained the volatilization of induced *** optimized CML-TENG delivered the highest open-circuit voltage(V_(oc))of 262 V and maximum instantaneous output power of 429 mW/m^(2).Pristine CH-TENG retained only 39%of its initial Voc at 70℃,whereas the optimized CM_(5)L_(3)-TENG retained 66%of its initial *** work provides a new strategy for suppressing the annihilation of triboelectric charges at high temperatures,thus boosting the development of self-powered sensing devices for application under hot conditions.

Two distinctive rearranged 19-nor-7,8-seco-lab.ane diterpenoids(1 and 2)with a novel tetracyclo[5.***.1.0^(2,5.)0^(4,10)]decane skeleton,a derivative of the open tetrahydrofuran ring(7),three dimeric compounds(8-10),and four revised homologs(3-6)were obtained from Chinese liverwort Pallavicinia *** structures were identified via combined analysis of their spectroscopic data,single-crystal X-ray diffraction patterns,and ECD *** light-driven conversion of compound 5 to compounds 1-4 demonstrated that photochemically induced postmodification involved in biosynthesis is an important way to diversify natural structures.A preliminary cytotoxicity assay revealed that compound 5 showed significant inhibition in the human prostate cancer(PC-3)cell line via an apoptotic pathway.

Metal phthalocyanines(MPcs) have gained considerable research attention as hole-transport materials(HTMs) in perovskite solar cells(PSCs) because of their superb stability. However, the photovoltaic performance of MPc-based HTMs in PSCs is still lagging behind their small molecule and polymeric counterparts, largely due to their relatively low hole mobility. Here, we report for the first time the application of a copper naphthalocyanine derivative(namely t Bu-Cu Nc) as a hole-transport material(HTM)in perovskite solar cells(PSCs), and systematically study its optoelectronic and photovoltaic property compared with its Cu Pc analog(t Bu-Cu Pc). Combined experiments disclose that the extension of π-conjugation from Pc to Nc core leads to not only an enhanced hole-carrier mobility associated with a stronger intermolecular interaction, but also an elevated glass transition temperature(T_g) of 252 °C. The resultant PSCs employing t Bu-Cu Nc deliver an excellent power conversion efficiency of 24.03%, which is the record efficiency reported for metal complex-based HTMs in PSCs. More importantly, the encapsulated t Bu-Cu Nc-based devices also show dramatically improved thermal stability than the devices using the well-known SpiroOMe TAD, with a T_(80)lifetime for more than 1,000 h under damp-heat stress. This study unfolds a new avenue for developing efficient and stable HTMs in PSCs.

Chiral organic-inorganic hybrid metal halides(OIHMHs)have attracted broader scientific community recently in spin lightemitting diodes,and circularly polarized light-emitting ***,the emission peaks of the reported chiral OIHMHs mainly locate in the visible region,and chiral OIHMH with ultraviolet(UV)circularly polarized luminescence(CPL)has been rarely *** fill this gap,cerium,a unique rare-earth(RE)element with tunable luminescence from UV to the visible region owing to the 4 f-related electronic transition,was introduced to construct the first RE-based chiral OIHMHs,R/*** chirality is successfully transferred from the chiral organic cations to the inorganic cerium chloride framework in R/S-MCC,as confirmed by the single crystal structures,circular dichroism,and *** emission spectra of R/S-MCC are in the UV region,originating from the characteristic d-f transition of Ce^(3+),which making the Ce-based metal halides are ideal candidates towards CPL light sources in the UV ***,R-and S-MCC are the first RE-based OIHMHs,also the first chiral metalhalides with UV *** work opens a new avenue for the development of the chiral OIHMH family towards RE-based chiral *** RE-based chiral metal halides couple the unique and superior optical,electrical,magnetic,and spintronic properties of RE elements with chirality could accelerate the development of chiral optoelectronics and spintronics toward real applications.

Self-actuating protection mechanisms for safer lithium-ion batteries

Safety issue is still a problem nowadays for the large-scale application of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)in electric vehicles and energy storage *** unsafe behaviors of LIBs arise from the thermal run-away,which is intrinsically triggered by the overcharging and *** improve the safety of LIBs,various protection strategies based on self-actuating reaction control mechanisms(SRCMs)have been proposed,including redox shuttle,polymerizable monomer additive,potential-sensitive separator,thermal shutdown separator,positive-temperature-coefficient electrode,thermally polymerizable addi-tive,and reversible thermal phase transition *** build-in protection mechanisms,these meth-ods can sensitively detect either the temperature change inside battery or the potential change of the electrode,and spontaneously shut down the electrode reaction at risky conditions,thus preventing the battery from going into thermal *** their advantages in enhancing the intrinsic safety of LIBs,this paper overviews the research progresses of SRCMs after a brief introduction of thermal runaway mechanism and limitations of conventional thermal runaway mitigating *** importantly,the current states and issues,key challenges,and future developing trends of SRCTs are also discussed and outlined from the viewpoint of practical application,aiming at providing insights and guidance for developing more effective SRCMs for LIBs.

The investigation on oscillographic chronopotentiometry after 2000 is reviewed. The development course of oscillographic chronopotentiometry is looked back. Some new instrumentations and new methods about oscillographic chronopotentiometry as well as applications of chemometrics in oscilloanalysis are introduced. The prospects of oscillographic chronopotentiometry development are also discussed in this paper.
