The impact of OFDI on firm pro-environmental behavior:Evidence from China

Outward Foreign Direct Investment(OFDI)is a crucial decision in the internationalization strategy of firms and they confront diversified environmental policies and practices of host countries,when engaging in cross-border ***,there is a lack of research to investigate whether foreign direct investment(OFDI)is an important factor affecting the environmental commitment of *** study aims to empirically analyze the impact and mechanism by which firm outward foreign direct investment(OFDI)influences pro-environmental commitments,utilizing data collected from Chinese listed companies between 2010 and *** results show:1)there is a significant positive relationship between firm OFDI and pro-environmental commitments;2)mechanistic tests show that the OFDI can promote pro-environmental commitments through two channels:public attention and technological learning capacity;3)heterogeneity analysis reveals that the green effects of OFDI are more pronounced firms with institutional investors and state ownership,as well as in firms situated in host countries with more stringent environmental regulations;4)further analysis reveals OFDI-induced greater green commitments generated real environmental and economic outcomes:firms invested more in environmental protection and reduced CO_(2)*** the meantime,they experienced lower excessive debt risk and higher innovative *** findings have positive implications for the promotion of firms’pro-environmental behavior and sustainable development.

Global Production Sharing and Sino-US Trade Relations

This paper examines Sino-US trade relations, focusing on the ongoing process of global production sharing, involving splitting of the production process into discrete activities that are then allocated across countries, and the resulting trade complementarities between the two countries in world manufacturing trade. The results suggest that the Sino--US trade imbalance is basically a structural phenomenon resulting from the pivotal role played by China as the final assembly centre in East Asia-centered global production networks.

Plant glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchored proteins at the plasma membrane-cell wall nexus

Approximately 1% of plant proteins are predicted to be post-translationally modified with a glycosylphospha- tidylinositol （GPI） anchor that tethers the polypeptide to the outer leaflet of the plasma membrane. Whereas the synthesis and structure of GPI anchors is largely conserved across eukaryotes, the repertoire of functional domains present in the GPl-anchored proteome has diverged substantially. In plants, this includes a large fraction of the GPl-anchored proteome being further modified with plant-specific arabinogalactan （AG） O-glycans. The impor- tance of the GPl-anchored proteome to plant development is underscored by the fact that GPI biosynthetic null mutants exhibit embryo lethality. Mutations in genes encoding specific GPl-anchored proteins （GAPs） further supports their contribution to diverse biological processes, occurring at the interface of the plasma membrane and cell wall, including signaling, cell wall metabolism, cell wall polymer cross-linking, and plasmodesmatal transport. Here, we review the literature concerning plant GPl-anchored proteins, in the context of their potential to act as molecular hubs that mediate interactions between the plasma membrane and the cell wall, and their potential to transduce the signal into the protoplast and, thereby, activate signal transduction pathways.

Essential oils and functional herbs for healthy aging

As total life expectancy increases, the prevalence of age-related diseases such as diabetes and Alzheimer's disease is also increasing. Many hypotheses about Alzheimer's disease have been developed, including cholinergic neuron damage, oxidative stress, and inflammation. Acetylcholine is a major neurotransmitter in the brain and cholinergic deficits leads to cognitive dysfunction and decline. Recent studies have linked diabetes as a risk factor in developing Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia. The incidence of patients with type II diabetes and increased levels and activity of α-amylase is higher in patients with dementia. It has been shown that aromatherapy with essential oils from the mint family can improve cognitive performance in Alzheimer's disease patients. Selected monoterpenoids from these essential oils are reported to inhibit acetylcholinesterase, both in vitro and in vivo. Terpenoids are small, fat-soluble organic molecules that can transfer across nasal mucosa if inhaled, or penetrate through the skin after topical application, enter into the blood and cross the blood-brain barrier. Recent evidence supports the idea that the common constituents of essential oils also inhibit α-amylase, a starch digestive enzyme that plays an important role in the control of diabetes. The mint family is a fragrant plant family that contains most of the culinary herbs found in the Mediterranean diet. The Mediterranean diet is considered to be one of the healthiest diets in the world, and is found to be beneficial not only for the heart but also for the brain. Herbs used in this diet are rich in antioxidants that can prevent oxidative damage caused by free radicals. However, our study shows that they also contain biologically active compounds with potent α-amylase and acetylcholinesterase inhibitory activities. Consumption of fresh herbs can help boost memory and reduce sugar levels in the body. The use of herbs as a functional food could lead to significant i

Absorption events associated with solar flares

During the upward period of solar cycle 23, the imaging riometer at Zhongshan, Antarctica (geomag. lat. 74.5°S) was used to study the solar proton events and the X-ray solar flares which are associated with the absorption events. In our study, the relationship between the absorption intensity and X-ray flux is found in a power form which is consistent with the theoretical result. The imaging riometer absorption data at Ny-Alesund, Svalbard reconfirm the above relationship. We also argue that only M-class flares can generate a significant daytime absorption.

Polysaccharide composition during cotton seed fibre development:temporal differences between species and in different seasons

Incomplete multi-view clustering via local and global co-regularization

The incompleteness of multi-view data is a phenomenon associated with real-world data mining applications, which brings a huge challenge for multi-view clustering. Although various types of clustering methods, which try to obtain a complete and consensus clustering result from a latent subspace, have been developed to overcome this problem, most methods excessively rely on views-public instances to bridge the connection with view-private instances. When lacking sufficient views-public instances, existing methods fail to transmit the information among incomplete views effectively. To overcome this limitation, we propose an incomplete multi-view clustering algorithm via local and global co-regularization(IMVC-LG). In this algorithm, we define a new objective function that is composed of two terms: local clustering from each view and global clustering from multiple views, which constrain each other to exploit the local clustering information from different incomplete views and determine a global consensus clustering result, ***, an iterative optimization method is proposed to minimize the objective function. Finally, we compare the proposed algorithm with other state-of-the-art incomplete multi-view clustering methods on several benchmark datasets to illustrate its effectiveness.
