Specific alterations of regional myocardial work in strength-trained athletes using anabolic androgenic steroids compared to athletes with genetic hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

Background:Strength-trained athletes using anabolic androgenic steroids(AAS)have left ventricular(LV)hypertrophy and myocardial fibrosis that can lead to sudden cardiac death.A similar feature was described in athletes with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy(HCM),which complicates the diagnosis for *** this context,we aimed to compare the LV function of the 2 populations by measuring global and regional strain and myocardial work using speckle-tracking ***:Twenty-four strength-trained asymptomatic athletes using AAS(AAS-Athletes),22 athletes diagnosed with HCM(HCM-Athletes),and 20 healthy control athletes(Ctrl-Athletes)underwent a resting echocardiography to assess LV *** evaluated LV global and regional strains and myocardial work,with an evaluation of the constructive work(CW),wasted work,and work efficiency(WE).Results:Compared to Ctrl-Athletes,both AAS-Athletes and HCM-Athletes had a thicker interventricular septum,with maj ored values in *** strain was reduced in AAS-Athletes and even more in ***,global WE was significantly diminished in both AAS and HCM-Athletes(93%±2%in Ctrl-Athletes,90%±4%in AAS-Athletes,and 90%±5%in HCM-Athletes(mean±SD);pive work and WE regional analysis showed specific alterations,with the basal septal segments preferentially affected in AAS-Athletes,and both septal and apical segments affected in ***:The regional evaluation of myocardial work reported specific alterations of the major LV hypertrophy induced by the regular use of AAS compared to the LV hypertrophy due to *** finding could help clinicians to differentiate between these 2 forms of pathological hypertrophy.

The k-set agreement problem is a generalization of the consensus problem： considering a system made up of n processes where each process proposes a value, each non-faulty process has to decide a value such that a decided value is a proposed value, and no more than k different values are decided. While this problem cannot be solved in an asynchronous system prone to t process crashes when t≥ k, it can always be solved in a synchronous system; [t/k]＋1 is then a lower bound on the number of rounds （consecutive communication steps） for the non-faulty processes to decide. The condition-based approach has been introduced in the consensus context. its aim was to both circumvent the consensus impossibility in asynchronous systems, and allow for more efficient consensus algorithms in synchronous systems. This paper addresses the condition-based approach in the context of the k-set agreement problem. it has two main contributions. The first is the definition of a framework that allows defining conditions suited to the l-set agreement problem and the second is a generic synchronous k-set agreement algorithm based on conditions.

A series of alkali halide doped chalcohalide glasses （100-x）（0.9GeS2-0.1Sb2S3）-xCsCl （x=5, 10, 15 and 20 mole fraction） were prepared. The absorption spectra and Raman scatting spectra of these glasses were measured. The optical band gaps Eopt were obtained from ultraviolet absorption edges. Z-scan technique was utilized to investigate the third-order nonlinear optical properties of GeS2-Sb2S3-CsCl glasses. The value of Eopt increases and the third-order optical nonlinearity decreases with increasing CsCl content. Decreasing lone-pair electron and broadening the band-gap will provide less transition paths for nonlinear process, which play a key role in ultrafast third-order nonlinear optical responses of these chalcohalide glasses.

AiM: To evaluate the performance of elastography by ultrasound with acoustic radiation force impulse(ARFi) in determining fibrosis stage in patients with alcoholic liver disease(ALD) undergoing alcoholic detoxification in relation to ***: Eighty-three patients with ALD undergoing detoxification were prospectively enrolled. Each patient underwent ARFi imaging and a liver biopsy onthe same day. Fibrosis was staged according to the METAViR scoring system. The median of 10 valid ARFi measurements was calculated for each ***: Sixty-nine males and thirteen females(one patient excluded due to insufficient biopsy size) were assessed with a mean alcohol consumption of 132.4 ± 128.8 standard drinks per week and mean cumulative year duration of 17.6 ± 9.5 years. Sensitivity and specificity were respectively 82.4%(0.70-0.95) and 83.3%(0.73-0.94)(AUROC = 0.87) for F ≥ 2 with a cut-off value of 1.63m/s; 82.4%(0.64-1.00) and 78.5%(0.69-0.89)(AUROC = 0.86) for F ≥ 3 with a cut-off value of 1.84m/s; and 92.3%(0.78-1.00] and 81.6%(0.72-0.90)(AUROC = 0.89) for F = 4 with a cut-off value of 1.94 m/***: ARFi is an accurate, non-invasive and easy method for assessing liver fibrosis in patients with ALD undergoing alcoholic detoxification.

Anharmonicity and local disorder(polymorphism)are ubiquitous in perovskite physics,inducing various phenomena observed in scattering and spectroscopy *** of these phenomena still lack interpretation from first principles since,hitherto,no approach is available to account for anharmonicity and disorder in electron–phonon ***,relying on the special displacement method,we develop a unified treatment of both and demonstrate that electron–phonon coupling is strongly influenced when we employ polymorphous perovskite *** uncover that polymorphism in halide perovskites leads to vibrational dynamics far from the ideal noninteracting phonon picture and drives the gradual change in their band gap around phase transition *** also clarify that combined band gap corrections arising from disorder,spin-orbit coupling,exchange–correlation functionals of high accuracy,and electron–phonon coupling are all *** findings agree with experiments,suggesting that polymorphism is the key to address pending questions on perovskites’technological applications.

Polychronous automata and their use for formal validation of AADL models

This paper investigates how state diagrams can be best represented in the polychronous model of computation (MoC) and proposes to use this model for code validation of behavior specifications in architecture analysis & design language (AADL). in this relational MoC, the basic objects are signals, which are related through dataflow equations. Signals are associated with logical clocks, which provide the capability to describe systems in which components obey multiple clock rates. We propose a model of finite-state automata, called polychronous automata, which is based on clock relationships. A specificity of this model is that an automaton is submitted to clock constraints, which allows one to specify a wide range of control-related configurations, being either reactive or restrictive with respect to their control environment. A semantic model is defined for these polychronous automata, which relies on boolean algebra of clocks. Based on a previously defined modeling method for AADL software architectures using the polychronous MoC, the proposed model is used as a formal model for the AADL behavior annex. This is illustrated with a case study involving an adaptive cruise control system.
