This article investigates identical parallel machines scheduling with family setup times. The objective function being the weighted sum of completion times, the problem is known to be strongly NP-hard. We propose a constructive heuristic algorithm and three complementary lower bounds. Two of these bounds proceed by elimination of setup times or by distributing each of them to jobs of the corresponding family, while the third one is based on a lagrangian relaxation. The bounds and the heuristic are incorporated into a branch-and-bound algorithm. Experimental results obtained outperform those of the methods presented in previous works, in term of size of solved problems.

We report the high speed scanning submicronic microscopy （SSM） using a low cost polymer microlens integrated at the extremity of an optical fiber. These microlenses are fabricated by a free-radical photopolymerization method. Using a polymer microlens with a radius of curvature of 250 nm, a sub-micrometric gold pattern is imaged experimentally by SSM. Different distances between the tip and the sample are used with a high scanning speed of 200 cm/s. In particular, metallic absorption contrasts are described with an optical spatial resolution of 250 nm at the wavelength of 532 nm. Moreover, finite-difference time-domain （FDTD） simulations concerning the focal lengths of microlenses with different geometries and heights support the experimental data.

Interpenetrating phase composites (IPCs) are a new class of composite materials with improved combinations of mechanical and physical properties. This study was performed on a new type of IPC called metal porous polymer composite (MPPC) with an interpenetrating network structure. Aluminum-polypropylene (AI-PE) and Aluminum-epoxy resin (Al-Ep) composites were produced by infiltrating the polymer in the aluminum foam. The composite microstructures were characterized using SEM observation. The compressive behavior and energy absorption characteristics of MPPC were investigated and compared with the aluminum foams. The compressive modulus of composite was compared with the VOIGT-REUSS bounds and HASHIN-SHTRIKMAN (H-S) bounds models. The experimental modulus of compressive tests falls well within the theoretical models.

Ductile damage often occurs during metal forming processes due to the large thermo-elasto （visco） plastic flow Iocalisation. This paper presents a numerical methodology, which aims to virtually improve any metal forming processes. The methodology is based on elastoplastic constitutive equations accounting for nonlinear mixed isotropic and kinematic hardening strongly coupled with isotropic ductile damage. An adaptive remeshing scheme based on geometrical and physical error estimates including a kill element procedure is used. Some numerical results are presented to show the capability of the model to predict the damage initiation and growth during the metal forming processes.

In this paper, we propose a new model for improving the lot size obtained with the model of Woo, Hsu, and Wu （2001） proposed in their paper ＂An integrated inventory model for a single vendor and multiple buyers with ordering cost reduction＂（Int. J. Production Economics 73 203-215）. The new model can provide a lower or equal joint total cost as compared to Woo, Hsu, and Wu＇s model due to the relaxation of their integral multiple material ordering cycle policy to a fractional-integral multiple material ordering cycle policy. The proposed model is analyzed and an algorithm for calculating the optimal lot size of the model is developed. A numerical study based on the example used by Woo, Hsu, and Wu is presented.

In 1987, the Montreal Protocol prohibited the worldwide use and production of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs) and hydro fluorocarbons (HFCs) were proposed as alternative refrigerants. Unfortunately, HFCs have non negligible global warning potential and therefore new refrigerants must be proposed or old refrigerants must be used associated with HFC. Accurate experimental thermodynamic data and predictive techniques are required for better under-standing of the performance of the newly proposed refrigerants. In this communication, experimental techniques based on either analytic or synthetic methods are first described. Data are reported. Then two newly developed predictive models based on thermodynamic approach with the isofugacity criterion and artificial neural network method are presented. The results can provide better evaluation of refrigerants, especially with the aim of studying global warning effects.

In this study, the results of measurements on pressureless sintering behavior of Ag-SnO_2(88%wt Ag,12%wt SnO_2) pellets were reported. Dilatometric measurements, relative densities, hardness values, rupture transverse strength and electrical conductivities function of sintering temperatures were presented. A constant thermal expansion coefficient was determined, and a threshold temperature of densification(T_d) was exhibited. Sintering kinetics were reported for different temperatures. Hardness values were measured, and no increase in hardness is found under Td. Three-points bending tests were used to determine the transverse rupture strength whose evolution appears importantly well under Td. In the same manner, the increase in initial electrical conductivities begins well under Td. Under the threshold temperature, the relative increase in electrical conductivity is found to be independent of initial density of green compact pellets. This work highlights different evolutions in function of sintering temperature for the electrical conductivity and transverse rupture strength on the one hand, and for the densification and hardness on the other hand.

Fission-track, (U-Th)/He thermochronology, and cooling properties indicate that the southern Daba arcuate zone (SDBAZ) underwent a distinctive phase of rapid cooling in 153-100 Ma at a rate of 1.44-1.90°C/Ma. This rapid uplifting strongly contrasts with (1) the previous, rapid foreland subsidence during Early to Middle Jurassic in response to late-orogenic compression from the Qinling belt, (2) the succeeding long, slow cooling phase and relative thermal stability that occurred during the 100-45 Ma period. This rapid cooling event in the SDBAZ parallels those experienced by two adjacent upheavals of Huangling (HLUZ) and Hannan-Micang (HMUZ), with cooling rates of 2.22-3.17°C/Ma for the HLUZ in 160-126 Ma, 4.91°C/Ma for the southern HMUZ in 150-125 Ma, as well as 2.11°C/Ma for the northern HMUZ in 150-105 Ma. Comparing thermal histories among the SDBAZ, the HLUZ, the HMUZ, and the Wudang metamorphic zone (WDMZ), we infer that the Daba arcuate structural belt formed in 153-100 Ma. The combined dating data support a correlation with a low-angle arcuate south-thrusting of the Qinling orogen triggered by northward convergence of the Yangtze Craton, contemporaneously encountering rigid basement obstructions from the HLUZ and the HMUZ, respectively. Both the SDBAZ and neighboring domains additionally underwent a comparatively fast cooling and uplift since about 45 Ma.

Action recognition is an important research topic in video analysis that remains very *** recognition relies on learning a good representation of both spatial information(for appearance)and temporal information(for motion).These two kinds of information are highly correlated but have quite different properties,leading to unsatisfying results of both connecting independent models(e.g.,CNN-LSTM)and direct unbiased co-modeling(e.g.,3DCNN).Besides,a long-lasting tradition on this task with deep learning models is to just use 8 or 16 consecutive frames as input,making it hard to extract discriminative motion *** this work,we propose a novel network structure called ResLNet(Deep Residual LSTM network),which can take longer inputs(e.g.,of 64 frames)and have convolutions collaborate with LSTM more effectively under the residual structure to learn better spatial-temporal representations than ever without the cost of extra computations with the proposed embedded variable stride *** superiority of this proposal and its ablation study are shown on the three most popular benchmark datasets:Kinetics,HMDB51,and *** proposed network could be adopted for various features,such as RGB and optical *** to the limitation of the computation power of our experiment equipment and the real-time requirement,the proposed network is tested on the RGB only and shows great performance.
