This study presents a simplified multivariate bias correction scheme that is sequentially implemented in the GEOs5 data assimilation system and compared against a control experiment without model bias correction. The results show considerable improvement in terms of the mean biases of rawinsonde observation-minus-background （OmB） residuals for observed water vapor, wind and temperature variables. The time series spectral analysis shows whitening of bias-corrected OmB residuals, and mean biases for rawinsonde observation-minus-analysis （OmA） are also improved. some wind and temperature biases in the control experiment near the equatorial tropopause nearly vanish from the bias-corrected experiment. Despite the analysis improvement, the bias correction scheme has only a moderate impact on forecast skill. significant interaction is also found among quality-control, satellite observation bias correction, and background bias correction, and the latter positively impacts satellite bias correction.

The Urea Oya Multipurpose Development Project （UMDP） is a water transfer, hydropower and irrigation in the south-eastern part of the central highland region of sri Lanka. During geotechnical site investigation program 42 hydraulic fracture tests and 42 impression packer tests were carried out in 3 boreholes to about 840 m depth. Based on the stress measurements the minimum and maximum horizontal stress ratios were calculated. In situ stress computations at all the tests were based on the assumption that the principal stress components were vertical （σv） and horizontal （σH and σh, the maximum and minimum, respectively）. The results of the measurements had a direct impact on the design of the major openings bearing a high overburden--the underground powerhouse and the transformer cavern--and revealed a significant optimization potential concerning the selection of the lining system of the pressure shaft.

An innovative pharmaceutical form for administering melatonin,based on starch orodispersibleﬁlm(ODF),was designed and *** composition of the ODF included starch as the polymer matrix,the active drug melatonin,and a ***,a natural hormone produced by the pineal gland in the brain,can be absorbed by passive diffusion across the mucous membrane,resulting in improved bioavailability when compared to conventional oral *** study shows a simple and efﬁcient method for preparing melatonin-loaded orodispersibleﬁlms with a physically stable and commercially viable matrix,suitable for use in the pharmaceutical ***ﬁlms were prepared by treating the starch with microwave irradiation,followed by plasticization with glycerol,melatonin loading and drying by solvent *** tests showed theﬁlms’robustness,with a modulus of approximately 97 MPa,indicating good handling *** uptake analysis showed fast water absorption,reaching about 150%within 2 min,indicating its fast oral disintegration *** tests in artiﬁcial saliva and dissolution studies indicated the release of the drug in min-utes,indicating the potential properties of theﬁlm for oral drug *** the best of our knowledge,there is no melatonin ODF based on starch described in the literature.

Aims The present study aims(i)to examine if recently reported interspecific shoot-level biomass allocational trade-offs,*** trade-offs between leaf mass(lm)and stem mass(sM)and between leaf size and leaf number,hold intraspecifically and(ii)to explore whether those scaling relationships are independent of shoot type(*** *** shoots).Methods In order to address our questions,we used Fagus sylvatica saplings growing under a broad light range that were sampled in theWestern Carpathians Mountains(slovakia).Important Findings We found that:(i)intraspecific shoot-level biomass allocational trade-offs differ from those reported interspecifically and that(ii)long and short shoots differ in biomass allocation scaling *** relationships with slopes statistically smaller than 1.0 or higher than-1.0,were found between sM and lm and between mean leafing intensity and individual leaf mass,respectively,in long *** contrast,isometric scaling was found in short *** suggests that leaf mass in short shoots is unaffected by shoot stem mass,in contrast to long *** shoots also had a larger fraction of biomass allocated to *** shoots,as has been observed in other shoot dimorphic species,are specialized,with short shoots specializing in carbon gain and long shoots in space acquisition.A greater shift in lm than in sM among species during speciation shifting from allometric intraspecific relationships to an isometric interspecific scaling relationship between those traits could explain the discrepancies between the outputs of the present intraspecific study and others similar *** study draws attention to the importance of considering shoot types in future studies dealing with allocation rules in species with dimorphic shoots.

In order to recommend the use of the masonry of chipboards with eviscerated bed joints and hollow vertical joints, we did a comparative study using simulation of the behavior of walls with traditional blocs and those of the new model of blocs. Thus, using solidworks, we built up walls of 2.40 m length and 1.30m height following strictly the real constraints of elevation. Using finite elements method, the meshing, loading and the observation of the behavior are done through CosmosWorks. We can define a study used by solidworks and Cosmos Works interface, and introduce parameters of walls;the meshing is then done (here we have volumic elements with three noses);then the big rigidity matrix is defined;the equations are also defined and solved and results are presented in numerical and graphical form. since that form of results is not easy to analyse, we passed them to MATLAB in order to have usual curves more easily to analyse. The difficulty here is based on the conception of geometry of piece which must have same constraints and dimensions corresponding exactly to the real model. The other difficulty is to define parameters to use for a heterogeneous material like masonry. Once those difficulties are solved, the logical follows fully the steps of finite elements method until the solution in terms of noses repartition constraints, displacements and deformations. Then, we simulated the behavior on vertical static load, vertical static load and horizontal applied load and composed loads (vertical and horizontal) which are real conditions generally known in masonry walls. It has been shown that the new kind of masonry has a better behavior than the traditional one when loaded in its plan;in contrary, the behavior is less when loaded in the perpendicular plan.
