Background: Chronic hepatitis B (CHB) is a major cause of liver-related morbidity and mortality in the United States (US) and globally. CHB disproportionately affects Asian Americans and many other immigrant minority populations, primarily owing to the high prevalence of CHB in their countries of origin. India is a country with a medium-to-high prevalence of hepatitis B (HB) (>2%) and has over 40 million people infected with hepatitis B virus (HBV), with more than 115,000 deaths annually from HBV-related complications. Indian Americans are one of the largest immigrant populations in the US but remain underdiagnosed and poorly linked to clinical care. We, therefore, assessed the HBV prevalence and evaluated the linkage-to-care (LTC) among Indian Americans to develop strategic plans to reduce the impact of HBV in the US. Methods: Between April 2022 and January 2024, serologic screening and surveys were provided to 328 Indian American adults (age 20 - 80) in New York City. All participants were tested for a triple panel consisting of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), hepatitis B surface antibody (anti-HBs), and hepatitis B core IgG antibody (anti-HBc). A survey was conducted on the subjects chronically infected with HBV regarding their histories of infection. Self-administered questionnaires were employed to evaluate demographic and epidemiologic characteristics. Results: Of 328 screened and evaluated (246 males and 82 females), 10 (3.0%) were HBV-infected, 222 (67.7%) were susceptible to HBV, and 96 (29.3%) were immune. The prevalence of chronic HBV varied between the age groups: 4.6% (age 20 - 40), 3.4% (age 41 - 60), and 1.7% (age 61 - 80). Of 10 chronically infected, only two subjects had been previously diagnosed but were not engaged in care. Conclusion: HBV disproportionately affects Asian Americans, primarily owing to immigration from parts of the world where the disease is endemic. 提出一种基于概率的步行导致结构振动评估方法。现有的评估方法大致有三类:简化方法、基于频域的方法和基于时域的方法,都可以得到步行导致结构共振时产生的峰值加速度,但都没有考虑步行频率的概率分布,因此无法给出加速度值对应的超越概率。行人步行频率大部分分布在一个较窄的范围内,而且基本符合正态分布。该评估方法可以在计算结构竖向振动加速度的基础上,计算振动加速度的概率密度函数。从而可以确定各加速度值的超越概率,对结构振动的风险作出更准确的评估。在此基础上,可以选择具有一定保证率的结构振动加速度反应系数来代表结构的振动性能表现,建议办公建筑取95%保证率的反应系数,天桥结构取具有90%保证率的反应系数来代表结构的振动表现。

Abdominal involvement in angioedema is often a challenge to diagnose.Acute onset abdominal pain is its most common presenting symptom,and misdiagnosis may lead to unnecessary surgical intervention.Familiarity with the types and presentations of angioedema can be invaluable to clinicians as they consider the differential diagnoses of a patient presenting with abdominal pain. Detailed personal and family histories,careful physical examination of the patient,combined with knowledge of angioedema types,can help clinicians perform their diagnostic evaluation.An accurate diagnosis is essential in order to provide appropriate treatment to patients with angioedema.Depending upon the diagnosis,treatment may be the avoidance of provoking factors(such as allergens or medications),inhibiting histamine-provoked reactions,or treating C1 esterase inhibitor deficiency.

Real-time hybrid simulation is an attractive method to evaluate the response of structures under earthquake loads. The method is a variation of the pseudodynamic testing technique in which the experiment is executed in real time, thus allowing investigation of structural systems with rate-dependent components. Real-time hybrid simulation is challenging because it requires performance of all calculations, application of displacements, and acquisition of measured forces, within a very small increment of time. Furthermore, unless appropriate compensation for actuator dynamics is implemented, stability problems are likely to occur during the experiment. This paper presents an approach for real-time hybrid simulation in which compensation for actuator dynamics is implemented using a model-based feedforward compensator. The method is used to evaluate the response of a semi-active control of a structure employing an MR damper. Experimental results show good agreement with the predicted responses, demonstrating the effectiveness of the method for structural control performance assessment.

The role of taxation in promoting economic recovery has attracted great-er attention in recent years,with economic dislocation following the Global Financial Crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic.While taxation is only one of the factors impacting economic recovery,both economic literature and practical experience show that tax policy can contribute to enhanced growth and therefore greater economic activity.Tax instruments used as a means for promoting economic recovery include tax holidays,preferential tax rates,investment allowances,tax credits and special economic zones.However,there are a range of constraints over tax incentive design imposed by bodies such as the OECD/G20 Inclusive Framework on Base Erosion and Profit Shifting,the Forum on Harmful Tax Practices of the OECD and the Code of Conduct on Business Taxation of the European Union.Given the above,this paper sets out practical issues to inform governments seeking to promote economic activity through taxation.
