Identification of all genes involved in the phytochrome （phy）-medieted responses of plants to their light environment is an important goal in providing an overall understanding of light-regulated growth end development. This article highlights end integrates the central findings of two recent comprehensive studies in Arabidopsis that have identified the genome-wide set of phy-reguleted genes that respond rapidly to red-light signals upon first exposure of dark-grown seedlings, and have tested the functional relevance to normal seedling photomorphogenesis of an Initial subset of these genes. The data：（a） reveal considerable complexity in the channeling of the light signals through the different phy-femily members （phyA to phyE） to responsive genes; （b） identify a diversity of transcription-factor-encoding genes as major early, if not primary, targets of phy signaling, end, therefore, as potentially important regulators in the transcriptional-network hierarchy; and （c） identify auxin-related genes as the dominant class among rapidly-regulated, hormone-related genes. However, reverse-genetic functional profiling of a selected subset of these genes reveals that only a limited fraction are necessary for optimal phy-induced seedling deetioletion.

Quantitative Analysis of Lavender (<i>Lavandula angustifolia</i>) Essential Oil Using Multiblock Data from Infrared Spectroscopy

Near-infrared and mid-infrared spectroscopies were currently used to analyze natural compounds. During the last ten years various multiblocks methods were developed such as Concatenated PLS, Hierarchical-PLS (H-PLS), and MultiBlock-PLS (MB-PLS). These three algorithms were used to analyze 55 lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) essential oil samples. The results obtained were compared to the ones obtained respectively in NIR and MIR ranges. The accuracies of the models depend on the spectroscopic technique, pretreatment and the PLS methods. The results showed that the choice of the factor numbers used to build the multiblock models was the most important parameter for the H-PLS and MB-PLS methods.

Due to the large exciton binding energy,two-dimensional(2D)transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDCs)provide an ideal platform for studying excitonic states and related photonics and *** states lead to distinct light-matter interactions which are of great importance for device *** this work,we study polarized photoluminescence spectra from intralayer exciton and indirect exciton in WS_(2) and WSe_(2) atomic layers,and interlayer exciton in WS_(2)/WSe_(2) heterostructures by radially and azimuthally polarized cylindrical vector laser *** demonstrated the same in-plane and out-of-plane polarization behavior from the intralayer and indirect ***,with these two laser modes,we obtained interlayer exciton in WS_(2)/WSe_(2) heterostructures with stronger out-of-plane polarization,due to the formation of vertical electric dipole moment.

“Screening”is a search for preclinical,asymptomatic disease,including *** cancer screening has led to large increases in early-stage cancers and *** public messages emphasize the potential benefits to screening for these lesions based on the underlying assumption that treating cancer at early stages before spread to other organs should make it easier to treat and cure,using more tolerable *** intuition is so strong that public campaigns are sometimes launched without conducting definitive trials directly comparing screening to usual *** effective cancer screening test should not only increase the incidence of early-stage preclinical disease but should also decrease the incidence of advanced and metastatic cancer,as well as a subsequent decrease in cancer-related ***,screening efforts may be uncovering a reservoir of non-progressive and very slowly progressive lesions that were not destined to cause symptoms or suffering during the person’s remaining natural lifespan:a phenomenon known as“overdiagnosis.”We provide here a qualitative review of cancer overdiagnosis and discuss specific examples due to extensive population-based screening,including neuroblastoma,prostate cancer,thyroid cancer,lung cancer,melanoma,and breast *** harms of unnecessary diagnosis and cancer therapy call for a balanced presentation to people considering undergoing screening,even with a test of accepted benefit,with a goal of informed *** also discuss proposed strategies to mitigate the adverse sequelae of overdiagnosis.

Nitro MAC（French acronym for continuous atmospheric measurements of nitrogenous compounds） is an instrument which has been developed for the semi-continuous measurement of atmospheric nitrous acid（HONO）. This instrument relies on wet chemical sampling and detection using high performance liquid chromatography（HPLC）-visible absorption at540 nm. Sampling proceeds by dissolution of gaseous HONO in a phosphate buffer solution followed by derivatization with sulfanilamide/N-（1-naphthyl）-ethylenediamine. The performance of this instrument was found to be as follows： a detection limit of around 3 ppt with measurement uncertainty of 10% over an analysis time of 10 min. Intercomparison was made between the instrument and a long-path absorption photometer（LOPAP） during two experiments in different environments. First, air was sampled in a smog chamber with concentrations up to 18 ppb of nitrous acid. Nitro MAC and LOPAP measurements showed very good agreement. Then, in a second experiment, ambient air with HONO concentrations below250 ppt was sampled. While Nitro MAC showed its capability of measuring HONO in moderate and highly polluted environments, the intercomparison results in ambient air highlighted that corrections must be made for minor interferences when low concentrations are measured.
