Since 2011 an intensive international cooperation has been in place between the Institute for applied Photogrammetry and Geoinformatics(IAPG)at the Jade university of applied sciences in Oldenburg,Germany,and various Ukrainian *** an initial contact by *** Konecny,the first visit was organized,and was followed by many *** subsequent years an intensive cooperation was established particularly with the National university for Construction and Architecture(KNUCA)in *** addition to architects and civil engineers,KNUCA also trains geodesists,geo-information scientists and landscape *** cooperation today includes the reciprocal exchange of scientists and students,research projects,courses and cooperation at many other *** addition,a commercial company has been established,SPM3D llC,which now employs more than 14 engineers in the field of 3D acquisition,point cloud processing and *** article summarizes the history of the cooperation and presents the results of associated student *** addition,results of joint work on the development of a virtual laser scanner are presented,part of a German-Ukrainian initiative to digitize teaching.

Pediatric neuroblastomas(NBs)are heterogeneous,aggressive,therapy-resistant embryonal tumours that originate from cells of neural crest(NC)origin and in particular neuroblasts committed to the sympathoadrenal progenitor cell *** resistance,post-therapeutic relapse and subsequent metastatic NB progression are driven primarily by cancer stem cell(CSC)-like subpopulations,which through their self-renewing capacity,intermittent and slow cell cycles,drug-resistant and reversibly adaptive plastic phenotypes,represent the most important obstacle to improving therapeutic outcomes in unfavourable *** this review,dedicated to NB CSCs and the prospects for their therapeutic eradication,we initiate with brief descriptions of the unique transient vertebrate embryonic NC structure and salient molecular protagonists involved NC induction,specification,epithelial to mesenchymal transition and migratory behaviour,in order to familiarise the reader with the embryonic cellular and molecular origins and background to *** follow this by introducing NB and the potential NC-derived stem/progenitor cell origins of NBs,before providing a comprehensive review of the salient molecules,signalling pathways,mechanisms,tumour microenvironmental and therapeutic conditions involved in promoting,selecting and maintaining NB CSC subpopulations,and that underpin their therapy-resistant,self-renewing metastatic ***,we review potential therapeutic strategies and future prospects for targeting and eradication of these bastions of NB therapeutic resistance,post-therapeutic relapse and metastatic progression.

The use of choline in association with the Bangerter filters for the treatment of amblyopia

The study investigated the effects of choline combined with Bangerter filter in the treatment of amblyopia. All amblyopic subjects used a Bangerter filter on the corrective spectacle lens（1 d over the left eye, 1 d over the right eye）. Choline was then administered orally to 39 patients once daily, five days per week for the entire study period. Subjects treated with the Bangerter filter showed a mean visual acuity of 0.27 logM AR; at 12 mo of treatment, the mean visual acuity reached 0.09 log MAR. Patients treated with the Bangerter filter and citicoline showed a mean visual acuity of 0.35 log MAR; at 12 mo of treatment, the mean visual acuity reached 0.01 logMAR. No significant changes in the angle of deviation were observed in both groups. Subjects in both forms of amblyopia therapies demonstrated an increase in visual acuity. However, these effects were markedly enhanced when coupled with the administration of choline. Findings suggest that the effects are particularly relevant in the more severe amblyopic cases.

A theoretical study of resonant tunneling is carried out for an inverse parabolic double-barrier structure subjected to an external electric field. Tunneling transmission coefficient and density of states are analyzed by using the non-equilibrium Green＇s function approach based on the finite difference method. It is found that the resonant peak of the transmission coefficient, being unity for a symmetrical case, reduces under the applied electric field and depends strongly on the variation of the structure parameters.

Analysis of stress intensity factor in orthotropic bi-material mixed interface crack

Adopting the complex function approach, the paper studies the stress intensity factor in orthotropic bi-material interface cracks under mixed loads. With con- sideration of the boundary conditions, a new stress function is introduced to transform the problem of bi-material interface crack into a boundary value problem of partial dif- ferential equations. Two sets of non-homogeneous linear equations with 16 unknowns are constructed. By solving the equations, the expressions for the real bi-material elastic constant εt and the real stress singularity exponents λt are obtained with the bi-material engineering parameters satisfying certain conditions. By the uniqueness theorem of limit, undetermined coefficients are determined, and thus the bi-material stress intensity factor in mixed cracks is obtained. The bi-material stress intensity factor characterizes features of mixed cracks. When orthotropic bi-materials are of the same material, the degenerate solution to the stress intensity factor in mixed bi-material interface cracks is in complete agreement with the present classic conclusion. The relationship between the bi-material stress intensity factor and the ratio of bi-material shear modulus and the relationship be- tween the bi-material stress intensity factor and the ratio of bi-material Young＇s modulus are given in the numerical analysis.

lowering the synthesis temperature of boron nitride nanotubes(BNNTs)is crucial for their *** primary reason for adopting a high temperature is to enable the effective activation of highmelting-point solid *** this study,we developed a novel approach for efficiently activating boron by introducing alkali metal compounds into the conventional MgO–B *** approach can be adopted to form various low-melting-point AM–Mg–B–O growth *** growth systems have improved catalytic capability and reactivity even under low-temperature conditions,facilitating the synthesis of BNNTs at temperatures as low as 850℃.In addition,molecular dynamics simulations based on density functional theory theoretically demonstrate that the systems maintain a liquid state at low temperatures and interact with N atoms to form BN *** findings offer novel insights into the design of boron activation and are expected to facilitate research on the low-temperature synthesis of BNNTs.

Photocatalytic oxygen reduction for hydrogen peroxide （H2O2） synthesis presents a green and costeffective production ***,achieving highly selective H2O2synthesis remains challenging,necessitating precise control over free radical reaction pathways and minimizing undesirable oxidative ***,we report for the visible light-driven simultaneous co-photocatalytic reduction of O2to H2O2and oxidation of biomass using the atomic rubidium-nitride modified carbon nitride（CNRb）.The optimized CNRb catalyst demonstrates a record photoreduction rate of 8.01 mM h-1for H2O2generation and photooxidation rate of 3.75 mM h-1for furfuryl alcohol to furoic acid,achieving a remarkable solar-to-chemical conversion （SCC） efficiency of up to 2.27%.Experimental characterizations and DFT calculation disclosed that the introducing atomic Rb–N configurations allows for the high-selective generation of superoxide radicals while suppressing hydroxyl free radical *** is because the Rb–N serves as the new alternative site to perceive a stronger connection position for O2adsorption and reinforce the capability to extract protons,thereby triggering a high selective redox product *** study holds great potential in precisely regulating reactive radical processes at the atomic level,thereby paving the way for efficient synthesis of H2O2coupled with biomass valorization.

Stress-induced failure is among the most common causes of instability in Canadian deep underground *** stoping is the most widely practiced underground excavation method in these mines,and creates large stopes which are subjected to stress-induced *** probability of failure(POF)depends on many factors,of which the geometry of an open stope is especially *** this study,a methodology is proposed to assess the effect of stope geometrical parameters on the POF,using numerical *** ranges for each input parameter are defined according to previous surveys on open stope geometry in a number of Canadian underground mines.A Monte-Carlo simulation technique is combined with the finite difference code FlAC3D,to generate model realizations containing stopes with different geometrical *** probability of failure(POF)for different categories of stope geometry,is calculated by considering two modes of failure;relaxation-related gravity driven(tensile)failure and rock mass brittle *** individual and interactive effects of stope geometrical parameters on the POF,are analyzed using a general multi-level factorial ***,mathematical optimization techniques are employed to estimate the most stable stope conditions,by determining the optimal ranges for each stope’s geometrical parameter.
