Slightly acidic electrolyzed water(SAEW)has proven to be an efficient and novel sanitizer in food and agriculture *** study assessed the efficacy of SAEW(30 mg/L)at 40℃on the inactivation of foodbome pathogens and detachment of multi-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA)*** underlying mechanism of MRS A biofilm under heated SAEW at 40℃treatment on metabolic profiles was *** results showed that the heated SAEW at 40℃significantly effectively against foodbome pathogens of 1.96-7.56(lg(CFU/g))reduction in pork,chicken,spinach,and *** heated SAEW at 40℃treatment significantly reduced MRS A biofilm cells by 2.41(lg(CFU/cm^(2))).The synergistic effect of SAEW treatment showed intense anti-biofilm activity in decreasing cell density and impairing biofilm cell *** metabolic response of MRSA biofilms,treated by SAEW at 40℃,revealed the alterations of intracellular metabolites,including amino acids,organic acid,fatty acid,and ***,signaling pathways involved in amino acid metabolism,energy metabolism,nucleotide synthesis,carbohydrate metabolites,and lipid biosynthesis were functionally disrupted by the SAEW at 40℃*** per our knowledge,this is the first research to uncover the potential mechanism of heated SAEW treatment against MRSA biofilm on food contact surface.

A Cu-Pd alloy catalyst with partial phase separation for the electrochemical CO_(2) reduction reaction

Cu catalysts can convert CO_(2) through an electrochemical reduction reaction into a variety of useful carbon-based ***,this capability provides an obstacle to increasing the selectivity for a single ***,we report a simple fabrication method for a Cu-Pd alloy catalyst for use in a membrane electrode assembly(MEA)-based CO_(2) electrolyzer for the electrochemical CO_(2) reduction reaction(ECRR)with high selectivity for CO *** the composition of the Cu-Pd alloy catalyst was fabricated at 6:4,the selectivity for CO increased and the production of multi-carbon compounds and hydrogen is *** a Cu-Pd alloy catalyst with 6:4 ratio as the cathode of the MEAbased CO_(2) electrolyzer showed a CO faradaic efficiency of 92.8%at 2.4 V_(cell).We assumed that these results contributed from the crystal planes on the surface of the Cu-Pd *** phases of the Cu-Pd alloy catalyst were partially separated through annealing to fabricate a catalyst with high selectivity for CO at low voltage and C_(2)H_4 at high *** results of CO-stripping testing confirmed that when Cu partially separates from the lattice of the Cu-Pd alloy,the desorption of~*CO is suppressed,suggesting that C-C coupling reaction is favored.

Elasto-inertial microfluidic separation of microspheres with submicron resolution at high-throughput

Elasto-inertial microfluidic separation offers many advantages including high throughput and separation *** though the separation efficiency highly depends on precise control of the flow conditions,no concrete guidelines have been reported yet in elasto-inertial ***,we propose a dimensionless analysis for precise estimation of the microsphere behaviors across the interface of Newtonian and viscoelastic *** number,modified Weissenberg number,and modified elastic number are used to investigate the balance between inertial and elastic lift *** on the findings,we introduce a new dimensionless number defined as the width of the Newtonian fluid stream divided by microsphere *** proposed dimensionless analysis allows us to predict whether the microspheres migrate across the co-flow *** theoretical estimation is found to be in good agreement with the experimental results using 2.1-and 3.2-μm-diameter polystyrene microspheres in a co-flow of water and polyethylene oxide *** on the theoretical estimation,we also realize submicron separation of the microspheres with 2.1 and 2.5μm in diameter at high throughput,high purity(>95%),and high recovery rate(>97%).The applicability of the proposed method was validated by separation of platelets from similar-sized Escherichia coli(***).

Design and compensation of second-order sub-sampling digital frontend

The problem of designing a digital frontend (DFE) was considered which can dynamically access or sense dual bands in any radio frequency (RF) regions without requiring hardware changes. In particular, second-order bandpass sampling (BPS) as a technique that enables to realize the multiband reception function was discussed. In a second-order BPS system, digital reconstruction filters were utilized to eliminate the interferences generated while down converting arbitrarily positioned RF-band signals by using the direct digitization method. However, the inaccuracy in the phase shift or the amplitude mismatch between the two sample streams may cause insufficient rejection of interference. Practical problems were studied, such as performance degradation in signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) and compensation methods to overcome them. In order to demonstrate the second- order BPS as a flexible DFE suitable for software-defined radio (SDR) or cognitive radio (CR), a DFE testbed with a reconfigurable structure was implemented. Moreover, with a view to further demonstrate the proposed compensation algorithms, experimental results show that dual bands are received simultaneously.

A modified colonial competitive algorithm for optimizing convex functions

Purpose–This article is going to introduce a modified variant of the imperialist competitive algorithm(ICA).The paper aims to discuss these ***/methodology/approach–ICA is a meta-heuristic algorithm that is introduced based on a socio-politically motivated global search *** is a population-based stochastic algorithm to control more *** most powerful countries are imperialists and the weakest countries are *** movement toward their relevant imperialist,and making a competition among all empires to posses the weakest colonies of the weakest empires,form the basis of the *** fact that the imperialists also need to model and they move towards top imperialist state is the most common type of political rules from around the *** paper exploits these new *** modification is the empire movement toward the superior empire for balancing the exploration and exploitation abilities of the ***–The algorithms are used for optimization that have shortcoming to deal with accuracy rate and local optimum trap and they need complex tuning *** is proposed a way for optimizing convex function with high accuracy and avoiding to trap in local optima rather than using original ICA algorithm by implementing some modification on ***/value–Therefore,several solution procedures,including ICA,modified ICA,and genetic algorithm and particle swarm optimization algorithm are ***,numerical experiments are carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of models as well as solution *** results present the suitability of the proposed modified ICA for convex functions with little fluctuations.

The ever-growing demand for high performance computation calls for progressively larger parallel distributed file systems to match their *** file systems can achieve high performance for large I/O operations through distributing load across numerous data ***,they fail to provide quality service for applications pertaining to small *** this paper,we propose a delegable metadata service(DMS)for hiding latency of metadata accesses and optimizing small-file *** addition,four techniques have been designed to maintain consistency and efficiency in DMS:pre-allocate serial metahandles,directory-based metadata replacement,packing transaction operations and fine-grained lock *** schemes have been employed in Cappella parallel distributed file system,and various experiments complying with industrial standards have been conducted for evaluation of its *** results show that our design has achieved significant improvement in performance of both metadata operations and small-file ***,this scheme is widely applicable for integration within many other distributed file systems.

The Spatial Effects of Antenna Configuration in a Large Area Inductively Coupled Plasma System for Flat Panel Displays

Spatial distributions of plasma parameters such as electron density, electron temperature and electric potential were investigated using a commercial simulation software （COMSOLTM） to predict the effects of antenna configuration in a large area inductively cou- pled plasma （ICP） system for flat panel displays. Nine planar antenna sets were evenly placed above a ceramic window. While the electron density was influenced by both the input current and gas pressure, the electron temperature and electric potential were dominantly affected by the gas pressure.
