Assessing the impact of meteorological factors on malaria patients in demilitarized zones in Republic of korea

Background:The trend of military patients becoming infected with vivax malaria reemerged in the Republic of korea(ROK)in *** common explanation has been that infective Anopheles mosquitoes from the Democratic People’s Republic of korea have invaded Republic of korea’s demilitarized zone(DMZ).The aim of this study was to verify the relationship between meteorological factors and the number of malaria patients in the military in this ***:The authors estimated the effects of meteorological factors on vivax malaria patients from the military based on the monthly number of malaria cases between 2006 and ***,precipitation,snow depth,wind velocity,relative humidity,duration of sunshine,and cloud cover were selected as the meteorological factors to be studied.A systematic pattern in the spatial distribution of malaria cases was assessed using the Moran’s *** causality tests and cross-correlation coefficients were used to evaluate the relationship between meteorological factors and malaria patients in the ***:Spatial analysis revealed significant clusters of malaria patients in the military in Republic of korea in 2011(Moran’s I=0.136,p-value=0.026).In the six years investigated,the number of malaria patients in the military in Paju decreased,but the number of malaria patients in the military in Hwacheon and Chuncheon *** average,maximum and minimum temperatures;wind velocity;and relative humidity were found to be predicting factors of malaria in patients in the military in *** contrast,wind velocity alone was not able to predict malaria in Hwacheon and Chuncheon,however,precipitation and cloud cover were able to predict malaria in Hwacheon and ***:This study demonstrated that the number of malaria patients in the military is correlated with meteorological *** variation in occurrence of malaria cases was principally attributed to differences in meteorological factors by regions of

Research-training needs of clinical nurses: A nationwide study among tertiary hospitals in China

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate Chinese tertiary hospital nurses' research output,research ability,and their related training needs regarding scientific research methodology and analyze the relations among ***: A nationwide survey was conducted in China on a large sample of tertiary hospital nurses (n =27,335) recruited from 22 provinces,autonomous regions,and municipalities.A validated,self-designed questionnaire,consisted of a common questionnaire,the Science Research Skills Self-Rating Questionnaire (SRSQ) and the Scientific Research Training Needs Questionnaire (SRTNQ) were used to assess nurses' research output,self-rated research skills and research-training ***: The nurses' scientific research participation rates (with 4.13%,7.85%,5.35%,and 2.04% in research projects,research attendance,papers published,and patent,respectively) and their self-rated research skills 25.00 (12.50,37.50) were very ***,the research training needs were relatively high 53.12(37.50,75.00).Significant differences in research participation rates (research projects,research attendance,papers published,and patent),scientific research skills,and research-training needs were determined by age,highest education level,nursing experience,employment,technical title,administrative post,and clinical tutoring experience (P< 0.05).Female and male nurses had different research participation rates (only research projects and studies published) and scientific research skills (P < 0.05).Positive correlations were observed among research output,scientific research skills,and researchtraining needs (P < 0.01).Conclusions: Nurses' scientific research participation and self-rated research ability were below the optimal despite that they had relatively high research-training *** should be provided further research training with tailored content to their characteristics and capacity.

The newly discovered Paodaoling porphyry Au deposit from the Guichi region, Lower Yangtze River Metallogenic Belt （LYRB）, contains 〉35 tons of Au at an average grade of -1.7 g/t. It is a porphyry ＇Au-only＇ deposit, as revealed by current exploration in the depths, mostly above -400 m, which is quite uncommon among coeval porphyry mineralization along the LYRB. Additionally, there are also Cu-Au bearing porphyries and barren alkaline granitoids in the Paodaoling district. Zircon LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating of the Cu-Au-bearing porphyries yield an age of 141-140 Ma, falling within the main magmatic stage of the LYRB, whereas the barren granites give an age of 125-120 Ma, coeval with the regional A- type granites. The Cu-Au-bearing porphyries are LILE-, LREE-enriched and HFSE-depleted, typical of arc magmatic affinities. The barren granites are HFSE-enriched, with lower LREE/HREE ratios and pronounced negative Eu anomalies. The Cu-Au-bearing porphyries in the Paodaoling district have high oxygen fugacities and high water content. Pyrite sulfur isotopes of the Paodaoling gold deposit indicate a magmatic-sedimentary mixed source for the ore-forming fluids. Based on the alteration and poly-metal zonation of the deepest exploration drill hole from the Paodaoling Au deposit, we propose that Cu ore bodies could lie at depth beneath the current Au ore bodies. The magmatism and associated Cu-Au mineralization of the Paodaoling district are likely to have formed in a subduction setting, during slab rollback of the paleo-Pacific plate.

Intravenous Suitability Studies of Commonly Used Oxacillin Sodium Solutions in the Accufuser^(■) Infusion Device

Our study compares two commonly used solutions of oxacillin sodium, 5.0 mg/mL in either 0.9% sodium chloride (NS) or 5% dextrose water (D5W), for their continued suitability for IV usage, and stability of active compound over time, when stored at two different controlled temperatures for six weeks. Both solutions were stored in an intravenous infusion device commercially available as Accufuser? and kept at a continuously maintained temperature of either 4 ± 2?C (CT) or 25 ± 2?C (RT). Suitability for IV administration was assessed by measuring changes in macrographical transparency and pH over time, and drug stability was assessed by measuring changes in oxacillin concentration over time using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). After 6 weeks, concentrations of oxacillin were unchanged in the CT solutions, while both RT solutions showed significant decreases in the concentration of oxacillin after only two weeks. Final concentration compared to starting concentrations after 6 weeks at RT, were 36.57% in NS, while virtually no oxacillin was detectable in D5W. Also pH measurements showed a slight decrement at 2 weeks with RT, and at 6 weeks, there was a significant change in pH in both NS and D5W at RT. There was no significant change in color, transparency or appearance after 6 weeks in any of the oxacillin solutions stored in the Accufuser? infusion device. In summary, two commonly used IV solutions for oxacillin administration(5 mg/mL in NS or D5W) stored ready to use in the Accufuser? showed significant changes over time when maintained at RT, that would make the solutions inappropriate for therapeutic use. Both solutions when maintained in CT were not significantly altered and continued to be appropriate in pH and drug concentration for IV therapy. This suggests that ready-to-use solutions of oxacillin sodium in the Accufuser? infusion device can be kept at CT for up to 6 weeks safely but should not be stored at RT due to loss of potency and changes in

Olfactory Response of Trichogramma ostriniae (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) to Volatiles Emitted by Mungbean Plants

Intercropping maize with the prostrate variety of mungbean, Vigna radiata （L.） Wilczek which grows flat along the ground can increase parasitism of the eggs of the Asian corn borer, Ostrinia furnacalis （Guenée）, a crucial insect pest of maize in China, by Trichogramma ostriniae Pang Chen. This study investigated the behavioural responses of T. ostriniae to plant volatiles emitted from whole plants, leaves, and flowers of prostrate and erect varieties of mungbean in a 4-armed olfactometer. Female parasitiods were significantly attracted to the odours from some varieties of prostrate mungbean when the visit duration and the number of visits were considered, but were not attracted to the odours from any erect varieties. The attractive odours were shown to emanate from the leaves, rather than from the flowers of prostrate mungbean plants. These results have implications for the augmentation of Trichogramma parasitoids in bio-control of O. furnacalis and other crop pests.

目的本研究旨在探讨中国三级医院护士的科研产出、科研能力及他们对科学研究方法的培训需求,并分析三者间的关系。方法采用自行设计的一般资料调查表、科研能力自评调查表与科研方法培训需求调查表对全国22个省、自治区、直辖市三级医院的27 335名护士进行调查。结果护士主持课题、参与课题、发表科研论文和专利发明的百分率分别为4.13%,7.85%,5.35%和2.04%,自我科研能力评估得分为25.00(12.50,37.50),均处于较低水平,科研培训需求得分为53.12(37.50,75.00)。不同年龄、学历、护理工作年限、编制情况、职称、职务和临床教学经验护士的科研活动参与(主持课题、参与课题、发表论文和专利发明)、科研能力和科研培训需求比较,差异具有统计学意义(P<0.05)。不同性别护士在科研活动参与(仅主持课题和科研发表)和科研能力评估方面的差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。护士科研参与、科研能力和科研训练需求间存在正相关(P<0.01)。结论护士的科研培训需求相对较高,但科研参与和自我研究能力评估均低于预期。护理管理者应根据护士的特征和能力制订和提供适合的科研训练内容。
