Can color vision variation explain sex differences in invertebrate foraging by capuchin monkeys?

invertebrates are the main source of protein for many small-to-medium sized monkeys. Prey vary in size, mobility, degree of protective coveting, and use of the forest, i.e. canopy height, and whether they are exposed or embed themselves in substrates. Sex-differentiation in foraging patterns is well documented for some monkey species and recent studies find that color vision phenotype can also affect invertebrate foraging. Since vision phenotype is polymorphic and sex-linked in most New World monkeys - males have dichromatic vision and females have either dichromatic or trichromatic vision - this raises the possibility that sex differences are linked to visual ecology. We tested predicted sex differences for invertebrate foraging in white-faced capuchins Cebus capucinus and conducted 12 months of study on four free-ranging groups between January 2007 and September 2008. We found both sex and color vision effects. Sex： Males spent more time foraging for invertebrates on the ground. Females spent more time consuming embedded, colonial invertebrates, ate relatively more ＂soft＂ sedentary invertebrates, and devoted more of their activity budget to invertebrate foraging. Color Vision： Dichromatic monkeys had a higher capture efficiency of ex- posed invertebrates and spent less time visually foraging. Trichromats ate relatively more ＂hard＂ sedentary invertebrates. We con- elude that some variation in invertebrate foraging reflects differences between the sexes that may be due to disparities in size, strength, reproductive demands or niche preferences. However, other intraspecific variation in invertebrate foraging that might be mistakenly attributed to sex differences actually reflects differences in color vision [Current Zoology 56 （3）： 300-312, 2010].

Machine learning(ML)has taken the world by a tornado with its prevalent applications in automating ordinary tasks and using turbulent insights throughout scientific research and design *** is a massive area within artificial intelligence(Ai)that focuses on obtaining valuable information out of data,explaining why ML has often been related to stats and data *** advanced meta-heuristic optimization algorithm is proposed in this work for the optimization problem of antenna architecture *** algorithm is designed,depending on the hybrid between the Sine Cosine Algorithm(SCA)and the Grey Wolf Optimizer(GWO),to train neural networkbased Multilayer Perceptron(MLP).The proposed optimization algorithm is a practical,versatile,and trustworthy platform to recognize the design parameters in an optimal way for an endorsement double T-shaped monopole *** proposed algorithm likewise shows a comparative and statistical analysis by different curves in addition to the ANOVA and *** offers the superiority and validation stability evaluation of the predicted results to verify the procedures’accuracy.

Recent observations of Asian dust storms show an eastern expansion of the source area to degraded lands, where dust emissions have been little studied. The dust concentrations over the saline land of the western Songnen Plain （SSL）, Northeastern China, are circumstantially higher than those from the northwestern Chinese deserts. These concentrations are sensitive to the surface soil conditions and wind velocity on the ground. The dust samples collected during dust storm events on the SSL contain abundant Na, Mg, A1, K, Ca, Fe and Ti, as well as toxic elements such as Cu, V, Zn and Ba. individual particle analysis reveals that fine saline particles （〈 10 μm in diameter） on the saline land, consisting largely of carbonate, halite and sulfate together with lithogenic minerals such as SiO2 and aluminosilicate, are eventually uplifted during the interval from spring to autuum. The predominantly fine saline particles uplifted from the SSL are likely transported eastward by the winter monsoon circulation and westerlies. Recent degradation of saline lands in Northeastern China would not only increase the frequency of dust storm events in the downwind area, but also might change the chemical composition of the Asian dust emissions.

A Schwann cell has regenerative capabilities and is an important cell in the peripheral nervous *** microarray study is part of a bioinformatics study that focuses mainly on Schwann cells. Microarray data provide information on differences between microarray-based and experiment-based gene expression analyses. According to microarray data, several genes exhibit increased expression(fold change) but they are weakly expressed in experimental studies(based on morphology, protein and mRNA levels). in contrast, some genes are weakly expressed in microarray data and highly expressed in experimental studies;such genes may represent future target genes in Schwann cell studies. These studies allow us to learn about additional genes that could be used to achieve targeted results from experimental studies. in the current big data study by retrieving more than 5000 scientific articles from PubMed or NCBi, Google Scholar, and Google, 1016(up-and downregulated) genes were determined to be related to Schwann cells. However,no experiment was performed in the laboratory; rather, the present study is part of a big data analysis. Our study will contribute to our understanding of Schwann cell biology by aiding in the identification of *** on a comparative analysis of all microarray data, we conclude that the microarray could be a good tool for predicting the expression and intensity of different genes of interest in actual experiments.

Distribution of Sm and Ce in mice was investigated after inhalation exposure to their oxide particles of 5 μm diameter and 15 mg/*** and Ce were mainly distributed in lung,their concentrations decreased with passing time,and their concentrations in lung were correlated with exposure *** of Ce were lower than that of Sm in each *** was also distributed in the other organs and bone but Ce was scarcely *** results suggest that the behaviors of Sm and Ce inhaled were different,although their chemical properties are similar.

Nutrient loadings from upstream watersheds can have significant impacts on the water quality of receiving water ***,a major river is selected as the target for water quality studies,and the impact of minor rivers tends to be *** is very important to evaluate whether the impact of small rivers on the downstream water quality is *** water sampling and discharge modeling using SWAT were used to analyze the contribution of small rivers to water quality in a receiving *** this analysis,it was determined that the inflowing total nitrogen(TN)and total phosphorus(TP)concentrations from all target rivers exceeded the lake water environmental standards set by the Ministry of the *** contribution of suspended sediment(SS)and TN loads from small rivers did not vary markedly compared with their relative discharge contributions to the lake,at approximately 20%.However,the impact on TP loads to the lake from small rivers was 9.1%higher than their relative flow contributions,accounting for 28.2% of the TP ***,there is a potential to underestimate the impact of ungauged small rivers if only the major river is selected to evaluate the downstream lake water quality.
