Variations in evaporation from water surfaces along the margins of the Badain Jaran Desert over nearly 60 years and influencing factors

Based on meteorological data collected over nearly 60 years(1960-2017)from four national meteorological stations along the margins of the Badain Jaran Desert,this study analyzed the spatiotemporal variations in evaporation from water surfaces and identified the dominant controlling *** used included linear trend analysis,linear tendency estimation,the departure method,the rank correlation coefficient-based method,and Multiple Linear Regression(MLR).Results indicate notable spatiotemporal differences in evaporation distribution and ***,average annual evaporation exhibited a pronounced altitude effect,decreasing at a rate of about 8.23 mm/m from east to west with increasing ***,annual evaporation showed significant upward trends after 1996 at the northeastern(Guaizi Lake)and western(Dingxin)margins,with rates of 132 mm/10a and 105 mm/10a,***,along the northwestern(Ejina Banner)and southern(Alxa Right Banner)margins of the desert,an evaporation paradox was observed,with annual evaporation trending downward at rates of 162 mm/10a and 187 mm/10a,respectively,especially after *** dominant factors controlling evaporation varied spatially:Average annual temperature and relative humidity influended the western margin(Dingxin),average annual temperature was the key factor for the northeastern margin(Guaizi Lake),and average wind speed was crucial for the northern(Ejina Banner)and southern(Alxa Right Banner)margins.

Understanding the evolutionary and ecological processes involved in population differentiation and speciation provides critical insights into biodiversity formation. In this study, we employed 29,865 single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) and complete plastomes to examine genomic divergence and hybridization in Gentiana aristata, which is endemic to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau(QTP) region. Genetic clustering revealed that G. aristata is characterized by geographic genetic structures with five clusters(West, East, Central, South and North). The West cluster has a specific morphological character(i.e., blue corolla) and higher values of FSTcompared to the remaining clusters, likely the result of the geological barrier formed by the Yangtze River. The West cluster diverged from the other clusters in the Early Pliocene;these remaining clusters diverged from one another in the Early quaternary. Phylogenetic reconstructions based on SNPs and plastid data revealed substantial cyto-nuclear conflicts. Genetic clustering and D-statistics demonstrated rampant hybridization between the Central and North clusters,along the Bayankala Mountains, which form the geological barrier between the Central and North clusters. Species distribution modeling demonstrated the range of G. aristata expanded since the Last Interglacial period. Our findings provide genetic and morphological evidence of cryptic diversity in G. aristata, and identified rampant hybridization between genetic clusters along a geological *** findings suggest that geological barriers and climatic fluctuations have an important role in triggering diversification as well as hybridization, indicating that cryptic diversity and hybridization are essential factors in biodiversity formation within the QTP region.

A"once-in-a-millennium"super rainstorm battered Zhengzhou,central China,from 07/17/2021 to 07/22/2021(named"7.20"Zhengzhou rainstorm).It killed 398 people and caused billions of dollars in damage.A pressing question is whether rainstorms of this intensity can be effectively documented by geological archives to understand better their historical variabilities beyond the range of meteorological ***,four land snail shells were collected from Zhengzhou,and weekly to daily resolved snail shellδ^(18)O records from June to September of 2021 were obtained by gas-source mass spectrometry and secondary ion mass *** daily resolved records show a dramatic negative shift between 06/18/2021 and 09/18/2021,which has been attributed to the"7.20"Zhengzhou ***,the measured amplitude of this shift is consistent with the theoretical value estimated from the flux balance model and instrumental data for the"7.20"Zhengzhou *** results suggest that the ultra-high resolutionδ^(18)O of land snail shells have the potential to reconstruct local synoptic scale rainstorms quantitatively,and thus fossil snail shells in sedimentary strata can be valuable material for investigating the historical variability of local rainstorms under different climate backgrounds.

As one of the regions most affected by global cli-mate warming,the Tianshan mountains has experienced sev-eral ecological crises,including retreating glaciers and water *** warming in these mountains is considered mainly to be caused by increases in minimum temperatures and winter temperatures,while the influence of maximum temperatures is *** this study,a 300-year tree-ring chronology developed from the Western Tianshan Moun-tains was used to reconstruct the summer(June-August)maximum temperature(T_(max6-8))variations from 1718 to *** reconstruction explained 53.1% of the variance in the observed T_(max6-8).Over the past 300 years,the T_(max6-8)reconstruction showed clear interannual and decadal *** was a significant warming trend(0.18°C/decade)after the 1950s,which was close to the increasing rates of the minimum and mean *** increase in maximum temperature was also present over the whole Tianshan mountains and its impact on climate warming has *** T_(max6-8) variations in the Western Tianshan mountains were influenced by frequent volcanic eruptions combined with the influence of solar activity and the sum-mer North Atlantic *** study reveals that cli-mate warming is significantly influenced by the increase in maximum temperatures and clarifies possible driving mech-anisms of temperature variations in the Western Tianshan mountains which should aid climate predictions.

Phase-field simulation of precipitation kinetics and creep properties of Ni-Al-Cr/Ta superalloys

High-entropy oxides(HEOs)are a new class of single-phase structures with unique electronic and catalytic properties;therefore,it is worthwhile to explore their applications in *** this study,a Pt/(FeCoNiCrAl)_(3)O_(4)nanohybrid using HEO as a support was developed as an efficient catalyst for the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER).Pt/(FeCoNiCrAl)_(3)O_(4)exhibited high HER activity with a low overpotential of 22 mV at10 mA·cm^(-2),outperforming other binary,ternary,and quaternary *** HER activity of Pt/(FeCoNiCrAl)_(3)O_(4)was higher than that of a commercial Pt/C with a significantly lower Pt *** catalyst exhibited good activity and long-term stability(60 h)in an electrolytic water-splitting *** good activity can be attributed to the fact that the introduction of Pt effectively facilitates electronic interactions between Pt and the *** addition,the HEO substrate was more favorable for dispersing Pt particles,optimizing the electrochemical specific surface area,and significantly reducing the charge resistance of the *** study extends the application of HEOs in electrocatalysis and demonstrates the promising prospects of HEOs as supports for electrocatalysts.

Objective Limnocythere inopinata(Baird,1843)is an ostracod widely distributed in recent non-marine waters and in quaternary sediments,where it comprises various phenotypes(Yin et al.,1999;Zhang et al.,2015).Based on the nodation patterns,five phenotypes were described in previous publications,namely,the unnoded,the phenotype with one node in the postero-ventral part of the valve,one with two nodes in the antero-ventral and postero-ventral parts of the valve,another with three nodes in the antero-ventral,postero-ventral and postero-dorsal parts of the valve.

The characteristics of bioaerosols and their effects on human beings'health have become a major public concern in the recent *** study compared the characteristics of bioaerosols under different types of pollution(high-ozone[HO]episodes,haze episodes,and dust storms[DSs]),with those of bioaerosols on normal days(NDs)in Xi'an,*** concentrations,diurnal variations,and size distribution of bacteria,fungi,and total airborne microbes(TAMs)were *** results showed that the bacterial and fungal concentrations were the highest during DSs and on NDs,reaching 425.2 and 956.9 colony-forming units/m^(3),*** concentration of TAMs was the highest during HO episodes,reaching 10.7×10^(6)cells/m^(3),which was significantly higher than that during the other *** maximum concentrations of bacteria and fungi during HO episodes were observed in the morning,while they appeared separately in the morning and evening during haze *** and TAMs during DSs reached peak concentrations in the morning and evening,which is opposite to the particulate matter(PM)distribution *** NDs,temperature and relative humidity had significant effects on *** size distributions of airborne bacteria exhibited bimodal patterns,whereas unimodal distributions were observed for *** mainly attached in fine particles(evolution of bioaerosols under different types of pollution.
