Effect of lamellarization on the microstructure and mechanical properties of marine 10Ni5CrMoV steel

Multistage heat treatment involving quenching(Q),lamellarizing(L),and tempering(T)is applied to marine 10Ni5CrMoV *** microstructure and mechanical properties were studied by multiscale characterizations,and the kinetics of reverse austenite transformation,strain hardening behavior,and toughening mechanism were further *** lamellarized specimens possess low yield strength but high toughness,especially cryogenic *** leads to the development of film-like reversed austenite at the martensite block and lath boundaries,refining the martensite structure and lowering the equivalent grain *** analysis of austenite reversion based on the JMAK model shows that the isothermal transformation is dominated by the growth of reversed austenite,and the maximum transformation of reversed austenite is reached at the peak temperature(750℃).The strain hardening behavior based on the modified Crussard-Jaoul analysis indicates that the reversed austenite obtained from lamellarization reduces the proportion of martensite,significantly hindering crack propagation via martensitic transformation during the *** a consequence,the QLT specimens exhibit high machinability and low yield *** with the QT specimen,the ductile-brittle transition temperature of the QLT specimens decreases from-116 to-130℃due to the low equivalent grain size and reversed austenite,which increases the cleavage force required for crack propagation and absorbs the energy of external load,*** work provides an idea to improve the cryogenic toughness of marine 10Ni5CrMoV steel and lays a theoretical foundation for its industrial application and comprehensive performance improvement.

Low-temperature chlorination roasting technology for the simultaneous recovery of valuable metals from spent LiCoO_(2)cathode material

With the continuous increase in the disposal volume of spent lithium-ion batteries(LIBs),properly recycling spent LIBs has become essential for the advancement of the circular *** study presents a systematic analysis of the chlorination roasting kinetics and proposes a new two-step chlorination roasting process that integrates thermodynamics for the recycling of LIB cathode *** activation energy for the chloride reaction was 88.41 kJ/mol according to thermogravimetric analysis–derivative thermogravimetry data obtained by using model-free,model-fitting,and Z(α)function(αis conversion rate).Results indicated that the reaction was dominated by the first-order(F1)model when the conversion rate was less than or equal to 0.5 and shifted to the second-order(F2)model when the conversion rate exceeded *** conditions were determined by thoroughly investigating the effects of roasting temperature,roasting time,and the mass ratio of NH_(4)Cl to LiCoO_(2).Under the optimal conditions,namely 400℃,20 min,and NH_(4)Cl/LiCoO_(2)mass ratio of 3:1,the leaching efficiency of Li and Co reached 99.43% and 99.05%,*** of the roasted products revealed that valuable metals in LiCoO_(2)transformed into CoCl_(2) and ***,the reaction mechanism was elucidated,providing insights for the establishment of a novel low-temperature chlorination roasting technology based on a crystal structure *** technology can guide the development of LIB recycling processes with low energy consumption,low secondary pollution,high recovery efficiency,and high added value.

Phosphorus Removal of High Phosphorus Iron Ore by Gas-Based Reduction and Melt Separation

A new method （gas-based separation plus melt separation） has been proposed to remove phosphorus of the high phosphorus iron ore which was 1.25 % of phosphorus content and 50. 0% of iron content. HSC chemistry package and the coexistence theory of slag structure were adopted for theoretical analysis. The gas-based reduction was carried out using a fixed bed reactor and the ore sample of 80 g with an average particle size of 2 mm were reduced using CO or H2 at temperature of 1 073 K for 5 hours. 50 g of the reduced sample with 3.0% CaO as additive was then subjected to melt separation in an electric furnace at temperature of 1 873 K under Ar atmosphere. In each run, SEM, EDS, optical microscopic examination and chemical analysis of the reduced ore sample, the metal sample and the slag sample were conducted. Results of all gas-based reduction experiments showed that iron metallization ratios were some 65% and the phosphorus compounds in the ore remained unchanged. It was agreed well with the simula- tions except for the iron metallization rate being less than predicted value; this difference was attributed to kinetics. Results of melt separation experiments showed that P content in metal samples is 0.33% （metal sample from H2 reduction product） and 0.27% （metal sample from CO reduction product）. The phosphorus partition ratios of both cases were less than predicted values. Some P in the metal samples existed as slag inclusion was considered to be the reason for this discrepancy.

Effect of continuous casting speed on mold surface flow and the related near-surface distribution of non-metallic inclusions

For the control of surface defects in interstitial-free(IF) steel, quantitative metallographic analyses of near-surface inclusions and surface liquid flow detection via the nail-board tipping method were conducted. The results show that, at casting speeds of 0.8 and 1.0 m/min, a thin liquid mold flux layer forms and non-uniform floating of argon bubbles occurs, inducing the entrainment and subsequent entrapment of the liquid flux; fine inclusion particles of Al_2O_3 can also aggregate at the solidification front. At higher casting speeds of 1.4 and 1.6 m/min, the liquid mold flux can be entrained and carried deeper into the liquid steel pool because of strong level fluctuations of the liquid steel and the flux. The optimal casting speed is approximately 1.2 m/min, with the most favorable surface flow status and, correspondingly, the lowest number of inclusions near the slab surface.

Thermal oxidation of SiAlON powders synthesized from coal gangue

The oxidation behavior of different SiAlON phases（β-SiAlON,X-phase SiAlON and 12H powders） synthesized from coal gangue in air atmosphere was investigated using isothermal thermogravimetry（TG） and field-emission scanning electron microscopy（FE-SEM）.The effect of ferric oxide impurities in coal gangue was *** results show that ferric oxide contributes to the growth of SiAlON crystalline during the synthesis *** the oxidation experiment,the existence of ferric oxide decreases the oxidation resistance of *** reason is that the impurity causes the formation of a liquid phase at a higher *** 1423-1623 K,the oxidation of SiAlON powders is diffusion controlled and it can be described by Chou＇s model.A fair agreement is found between theoretical calculations and the experimental data.

Gypsum crystallization along with the simultaneous regeneration of KCl was investigated by the reaction of CaCl2 solution with *** developed sheet structure gypsum crystals were produced when K2SO4 solution was added into the CaCl2 solution by slow titration or in multiple stages over 2-8 h followed by 2 h *** order to regenerate KCl solution as concentrated as possible,K2SO4 solid was added into the given CaCl2 solution instead of K2SO4 solution,obtaining gypsum crystals with almost the same quality by multistage addition with[SO4 2-]/[Ca 2+]molar ratio no larger than ***,impurity of K2SO4·CaSO4·H2O was detected by XRD and was further confirmed by SEM-EDS in the produced crystals when the[SO4 2-]/[Ca 2+] ratio increased to *** is proved that appearance of the double sulfate is attributed to the relatively high concentration of ***,it is essential to properly control the[SO4 2-]/[Ca 2+]ratio and make sure[Ca 2+ ]in excess to suppress the solubility of CaSO4 even at the expense of low calcium removal rate.

Inclusions and solidification structures of high pure ferritic stainless steels dual stabilized by niobium and titanium

As the raw materials in the post process of rolling and heat treatment, ingots have great effects on the properties of the final products. Inclusions and solidification structures are the most important aspects of the quality of ingots. Niobium and titanium are usually used to react with carbon and nitrogen to improve the properties of ferritic stainless steels. In this research, combined with thermodynamic calculation, effects of niobium and titanium on the inclusions and solidification structures in three kinds of high pure ferritic stainless steels with different titanium additions were investigated by optical microscope（OM）, scanning electron microscope（SEM）, transmission electron microscope（TEM）, and energy disperse spectrometer（EDS）. Results show that Al2O3 and a few（Nb,Ti）N particles form when titanium addition is 0.01 %.Furthermore, inclusions are mainly Ti N and Al2O3–Ti Ox–Ti N duplex inclusions when titanium addition is more than0.10 %. Those two types of inclusions are in well distribution, and can afford nuclei to the solidification ***, the ratio of equiaxed zone increases with the increase of titanium addition. The ratio increases from42.1 % to 64.0 % with the titanium addition increasing from 0.01 % to 0.10 %, and it increases to 85.7 % when the titanium addition reaches 0.34 %.

Effects of Different Oxidants on HCl-based Pickling Process of 430 Stainless Steel

To shorten the time required for the pickling process and to enhance the quality of ferritic stainless steel plates,the effects of oxidants including hydrogen peroxide（H2O2）,potassium permanganate（KMnO4）,and potassium chlorate（KClO3）on the pickling behavior in HCl-based electrolyte as well as the surface quality of hot-rolled and blasted 430 stainless steel（430-SS）were *** were conducted using mass-loss tests,microstructure analyses,potentiodynamic polarization curves,and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy *** results showed that the addition of oxidants substantially accelerated the pickling process of 430-SS by enhancing the cathodic reaction rate and reducing the charge transfer *** electrolytes comprising 5-8mass% HCl at a temperature of 40-60 ℃ and at the same concentration within the range from 0to 2mass%,H2O2 was demonstrated to be superior to KMnO4 and KClO3in accelerating the pickling *** surface quality of 430-SS pickled in the presence of H2O2 was better than those of specimens pickled in the presence of KMnO4 and KClO3 when the removal of the oxide layer,intergranular corrosion,and surface roughness were collectively *** 1mass% H2O2 was added,the mass loss rate of 430-SS was increased by 629%and no residual oxide layer or intergranular corrosion was observed on the surface of the steel;in addition,the roughness was only 1.7μm.H2O2 was determined to be a better oxidant than KMnO4 and KClO3 when the pickling process,surface quality,solution recycling,and environment protection were considered as a whole.

Effect of Mg Addition on Nucleation of Intra-granular Acicular Ferrite in Al-killed Low Carbon Steel

To verify the formation behaviors and mechanisms of intra-granular acicular ferrite（ IAF） grains nucleated by Mg-Al-O in low carbon steel,the steels containing different Mg contents were refined in a vacuum induction furnace. The effect of Mg addition on the formation of IAF structure in Al-killed low carbon steel was investigated by optical microscope（ OM） and scanning electron microscope with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscope（ SEM-EDX）. It reveals that the IAFs are only detected in Mg-added steels,and the volume fraction of IAF increases with the Mg concentration from 8 × 10^（-6） to 26 × 10^（-6）. It shows that not only the MgO-Al_2O_3-MnS and MgO-Al_2O_3-P_2O_5 particles are the effective nucleation sites for IAF,but also the pure MgO·Al_2O_3 phase can promote the ferrite nucleation. A Mn-depletion zone（ MDZ） is characterized adjacent to the MgO-Al_2O_3-MnS,which is believed to be one of the possible mechanisms to explain the IAF nucleation. The MDZ around the MgO-Al_2O_3-MnS inclusion would be induced by the Mn S precipitation on the inclusion. It seems that the ability of Mg-containing inclusions to induce the nucleation of ferrite might be attributed to a new mechanism,i. e.,the Prich zone formed on a few Mg-Al-O inclusions might be another factor for promoting the IAF formation.
