An unusual superhydrophilic/superoleophobic sponge for oil-water separation

Development of porous materials with anti-fouling and remote controllability is highly desired for oil-water separation application yet still challenging. Herein, to address this challenge, a sponge with unusual superhydrophilicity/superoleophobicity and magnetic property was fabricated through a dip-coating process. To exploit its superhydrophilic/superoleophobic property, the obtained sponge was used as a reusable water sorbent scaffold to collect water from bulk oils without absorbing any oil. Owing to its magnetic property, the sponge was manipulated remotely by a magnet without touching it directly during the whole water collection process, which could potentially lower the cost of the water collection process. Apart from acting as a water-absorbing material, the sponge can also be used as affiliation material to separate water from oil-water mixture and oil in water emulsion selectively, when fixed into a cone funnel. This research provides a key addition to the field of oil-water separation materials.

Global urbanization has led to drastic land use change,interfering the ecosystem services(Es)supply-demand balance,in turn threatening the well-being of ***,existing studies mainly stranded at the historical and current analysis,and the effects of urban spatial expansion on the relationship between Es supply and demand in the future are less clear,in particular at an urban agglomeration *** study was constructed with a framework of assessing the effects of urban spatial expansion on Es supply-demand mismatching under different future scenarios in the Guanzhong Plain Urban Agglomeration(GPUA)by using the Future Land Use simulation(FLUs)model and expert-based Land-Use and Land-Cover Change(LUCC)*** results showed that:(1)Urban expansion is significant in the natural development(ND)scenario,mainly manifesting the great transfer of dry land to construction land.(2)The gap between total Es supply and demand is narrowed from 2000 to 2030 and the mismatch between Es supply and demand is mainly reflected in the spatial distribution pattern in the *** Es budgets were in high surplus in Northern Qinling Mountains and northeast mountain areas,while they were in severe deficit in urban center *** budgets deficit under the ND scenario in 2030 is the most severe.(3)The gradient differences of Es budgets of the GPUA between urban centers and suburbs increase from 2000 to 2030 under two *** deficit region expands largest under ND *** findings revealed that Es declining and supply-demand mismatching were triggered by the drastic land-use change driven by rapid urban *** expansion has brought about an increasing material demand and growing industries,threatening the sustainability of *** setting could contribute to coordinating the relationship between future urban development and ecological protection,and the policy strategies proposed in the study could inform ecological management and urban planning

Metal–organic gel(MOG)derived composites are promising multi-functional materials due to their alterable composition,identifiable chemical homogeneity,tunable shape,and porous ***,stable metal–organic hydrogels are prepared by regulating the complexation effect,solution polarity and curing ***,collagen peptide is used to facilitate the fabrication of a porous aerogel with excellent physical properties as well as the homogeneous dispersion of magnetic particles during ***,two kinds of heterometallic magnetic coupling systems are obtained through the application of Kirkendall ***/nitrogen-doped carbon(NC)aerogel demonstrates an ultra-strong microwave absorption of−85 dB at an ultra-low loading of 5%.After reducing the time taken by atom shifting,a FeCo/Fe3O4/NC aerogel containing virus-shaped particles is obtained,which achieves an ultra-broad absorption of 7.44 GHz at an ultra-thin thickness of 1.59 mm due to the coupling effect offered by dual-soft-magnetic ***,both aerogels show excellent thermal insulation property,and their outstanding radar stealth performances in J-20 aircraft are confirmed by computer simulation *** formation mechanism of MOG is also discussed along with the thermal insulation and electromagnetic wave absorption mechanism of the aerogels,which will enable the development and application of novel and lightweight stealth coatings.

The mechanochemical dechlorination of pentachlorophenol （PCP） was studied using CaO and siO2 powder as additives. The effects of the milling time and additives on the dechlorination rate were investigated. The resulting product was characterized by X-ray diffraction （XRD）, Fourier transform infrared spectra （FT-IR）, thermogravimetric analysis （TG） and ion chromatography （IC）. It is found that grinding operation could dechlorinate PCP, with the formation of inorganic chloride and amorphous carbon. The addition of quartz to the grinding mixture facilitated dechlorination. On the basis of the experimental results, the decomposition mechanism was proposed. Decomposition predominantly proceeds through rupture of C-Cl bond in PCP molecule, followed by the formation of inorganic chlorides.

The winter counter-wind current (also named the south china sea Warm Current (sCsWC)) in the northern south china sea (sCs) has been known well for decades, but its mass and momentum origination have not be quantitatively evaluated before. In this paper, the high resolution three-dimensional ocean circulation model is adopted to reproduce the circulation in the northern sCs. The diagnostic analyses are performed to investigate the momentum budget in the northern sCs continental shelf/slope and the momentum propulsion of the sCsWC. It is indicated that the across-shelf pressure gradient and the across-shelf transport are responsible for the formation of the sCsWC, while the along-shelf pressure gradient is balanced by the surface stress, bottom stress, and Coriolis force. The magnitude of the terms in the along-shelf momentum equation is smaller than that in the across-shelf one. The analysis on the momentum budget in the northern sCs will benefit the marine environmental prediction in the future.

LiVPO4F was synthesized by a novel sol-gel method under Ar atmosphere using V2O5·nH2O,LiF,NH4H2PO4,and citric acid as starting materials,and its physicochemical properties were characterized using X-ray diffractometry(XRD),sEM,and electrochemical *** XRD patterns show that LiVPO4F displays a triclinic structure with a space group of *** sEM results indicate that the particle size of LiVPO4F is about 0.8μm together with homogenous *** optimal sintering temperature and sintering time are 600℃and 20 h,respectively,in order to obtain pure triclinic LiVPO4F with good electrochemical ***4F has the discharge capacity of 134 mA·h/g in the range of 3.0-4.4 V at the first cycle,and the discharge capacity remains 125 mA·h/g after 30 *** sol-gel method is suitable for the preparation of LiVPO4F cathode materials with good electrochemical performance for lithium ion batteries.

TiO_(2) supported on active carbon fiber(TiO_(2)/ACF),an absorbable photocatalyst,is a new kind of material applied in air *** this paper,the influence of environmental temperature(T)and relative humidity(RH)on the gas-solid adsorption of toluene and the photocatalytic oxidation(PCO)efficiency of adsorbed toluene on TiO_(2)/ACF were studied,and then,the purification capability of TiO_(2)/ACF was *** results showed that although the PCO efficiency increased under high RH and T levels,the amount of adsorption of toluene ***,quantitative analysis results of intermediates indicated that more environmental risk emerged when PCO of toluene was carried out at higher environmental T and RH levels because more toxic intermediates would be accumulated on the TiO_(2)/***,it is significant to control the environmental T and RH conditions in the application of the PCO technique.T 525uC and RH530% is the optimal condition for purifying toluene in our experimental system.

Chaotic CPG Based Locomotion Control for Modular self-reconfigurable Robot

The most important feature of Modular self-reconfigurable Robot （MsRR） is the adaption to complex environments and changeable tasks. A critical difficulty is that the operator should regulate a large number of control parameters of modules. In this paper, a novel locomotion control model based on chaotic Central Pattern Generator （CPG） is proposed. The chaotic CPG could produce various rhythm signals or chaotic signal only by changing one parameter. Utilizing this characteristic, a unified control model capable of switching variable locomotion patterns or generating chaotic motion for modular self-reconfigurable robot is presented. This model makes MsRR exhibit environmental adaptability. The efficiency of the control model is verified through simulation and experiment of UBot MsRR platform.

submerged vegetation has a significant impact on water flow *** investigations include the impact through adding drag resistance and increasing bottom roughness coefficient,which cannot elucidate the characters of real submerged *** evaluate the effects of submerged vegetation on water currents at different velocities,a laboratory experiment was conducted using three kinds of *** effective heights of these vegetations on varying flow velocities were *** equation describing the relationship between the normalized resistance of the submerged plants and the Reynolds number based on the plant effective height was then established and used to calculate the hydraulic resistance parameters of submerged plants in different stages of growth.
