DEAR EDITOR, The distribution of the capped langur （Trachypithecus pileatus） in China has become controversial since Shortridge＇s langur （Trachypithecus shortridgei） was upgraded to a full species. The capped langur is considered to be distributed in northeast India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and northwest Myanmar only （Brandon-Jones et al., 2004; Choudhury, 2008, 2014; Das et al., 2008; Groves, 2001）. In our field survey, however, we obtained photos of the capped langur, demonstrating its existence in China. Following the species promotion of Shortridge＇s langur （Brandon-Jones et al., 2004; Groves, 2001） and the delimiting of its distribution range to northwestern Yunnan in China and northeastern Myanmar （Brandon-Jones et al., 2004; Cui et al.,

Elemental state matter-heteroatom-doped carbon composites are of great importance for the development of anode in lithium ion batteries(LIBs).In this article,metal–organic frameworks(MOFs)are adopted as precursor to prepare Co composites via metallurgical pyrolysis under controllable *** obtained nitrogen-doped porous carbon-Co nanocomposite possesses core–shell structure(Co@C–N).Co@C–N exhibits the best Li storage performances as anode active *** the 200th cycles at current density of 0.2 A g^(-1),a reversible capacity of 870 mAh g^(-1)is retained.A reversible capacity of 275 mAh g^(-1)still maintains with 5 A g^(-1).Co@C–N presents a high reversible capacity with excellent cycle *** the corresponding experimental and theoretical results,the Co0-based N-doped porous carbon composite is proposed to work as LIBs anode *** results provide a new design idea for electrode matters of metallic ion battery,and demonstrate that MOFs pyrolysis is an effective method for the construction of elemental state anode materials.

Ferns and lycophytes have remarkably large ***,little is known about how their genome size evolved in fern *** explore the origins and evolution of chromosome numbers and genome size in ferns,we used flow cytometry to measure the genomes of 240 species(255 samples)of extant ferns and lycophytes comprising 27 families and 72 genera,of which 228 species(242 samples)represent new *** analyzed correlations among genome size,spore size,chromosomal features,phylogeny,and habitat type preference within a phylogenetic *** also applied ANOVA and multinomial logistic regression analysis to preference of habitat type and genome *** the phylogeny,we conducted ancestral character reconstruction for habitat types and tested whether genome size changes simultaneously with shifts in habitat *** found that 2 C values had weak phylogenetic signal,whereas the base number of chromosomes(x)had a strong phylogenetic ***,our analyses revealed a positive correlation between genome size and chromosome traits,indicating that the base number of chromosomes(x),chromosome size,and polyploidization may be primary contributors to genome expansion in ferns and *** sizes in different habitat types varied significantly and were significantly correlated with habitat types;specifically,multinomial logistic regression indicated that species with larger 2 C values were more likely to be *** habitat is inferred to be ancestral for both extant ferns and lycophytes,whereas transitions to other habitat types occurred as the major clades *** in habitat types appear be followed by periods of genomic *** on these results,we inferred that habitat type changes and multiple whole-genome duplications have contributed to the formation of large genomes of ferns and their allies during their evolutionary history.

The coffee beverage is the second most consumed drink worldwide after *** coffee beans,cell wall storage polysaccharides(CWSPs)represent around 50 per cent of the seed dry mass,mainly consisting of galactomannans and *** highly abundant structural components largely influence the organoleptic properties of the coffee beverage,mainly due to the complex changes they undergo during the roasting *** a nutritional point of view,coffee CWSPs are soluble dietary fibers shown to provide numerous health benefits in reducing the risk of human *** to their influence on coffee quality and their health-promoting benefits,CWSPs have been attracting significant research *** importance of cell walls to the coffee industry is not restricted to beans used for beverage production,as several coffee by-products also present high concentrations of cell wall *** by-products include cherry husks,cherry pulps,parchment skin,silver skin,and spent coffee grounds,which are currently used or have the potential to be utilized either as food ingredients or additives,or for the generation of downstream products such as enzymes,pharmaceuticals,and *** addition to their functions during plant development,cell walls also play a role in the plant's resistance to ***,we review several aspects of coffee cell walls,including chemical composition,biosynthesis,their function in coffee’s responses to stresses,and their influence on coffee *** also propose some potential cell wall-related biotechnological strategies envisaged for coffee improvements.

A Primary Study on Mechanical Properties of Heat-Treated Wood via in-situ Synthesis of Calcium Carbonate

This study aims to improve the value of fast-growing wood and extend the heat-treated wood utilization using inorganic calcium carbonate(CaCO_(3))crystals via an in-situ synthesis ***_(2)and Na 2CO_(3)solutions with a concentration ratio of 1:1 were successively introduced into the thermally modified poplar wood obtained by steam heat treatment(HT)at 200℃for 1.5 and 3 h,resulting in the in-situ synthesis of CaCO_(3)crystals inside the heat-treated *** filling effect was best at the concentration of 1.2 mol/***_(3)was uniformly distributed in the cell cavities of the heat-treated wood,and some of the crystals were embedded in the fissures of the wood cell *** morphology of CaCO_(3)crystals was mainly spherical and rhombic *** main types of CaCO_(3)crystals were calcite,vaterite,and *** HT of poplar wood at 200℃resulted in degrading the chemical components of the wood cell *** degradation led to reduced wood mechanical properties,including the surface hardness(HD),modulus of rupture(MOR),and modulus of elasticity(MOE).After CaCO_(3)was in-situ synthesized in the heat-treated wood,the HD increased by 18.36%and 16.35%,and MOR increased by 14.64%and 8.89%,*** of the CaCO_(3)synthesization,the char residue of the 200℃heat-treated wood samples increased by 9.31%and the maximum weight loss rate decreased by 19.80%,indicating that the filling with CaCO_(3)cannot only improve the mechanical properties of the heat-treated wood but also effectively enhance its thermal stability.

Zygomycetes are phylogenetically early diverging,ecologically diverse,industrially valuable,agriculturally beneficial,and clinically pathogenic *** new phyla and subphyla have been constantly established to accommodate spe-cific members and a subkingdom Mucoromyceta,comprising Calcarisporiellomycota,Glomeromycota,Mortierellomycota and Mucoromycota,was erected to unite core zygomycetous fungi,phylogenetic relationships within phyla have not been well *** account of the information of monophyly and divergence time estimated from ITS and LSU rDNA sequences,the present study updates the classification framework of the phylum Mucoromycota from the class down to the generic rank:three classes,three orders,20 families(including five new families Circinellaceae,Protomycocladaceae,Rhizomucoraceae,Syzygitaceae and Thermomucoraceae)and 64 *** taxonomic hierarchy was calibrated with estimated divergence times:phylum earlier than 617 Mya,classes and orders earlier than 547 Mya,families earlier than 199 Mya,and genera earlier than 12 *** with this outline,all genera of Mucoromycota are annotated and 58 new species are *** addition,three new combinations are *** this study,we update the taxonomic backbone of the phylum Mucoromycota and reinforce its *** also contribute numerous new taxa and enrich the diversity of Mucoromycota.

Citrus(Citrus reticulata),which is an important economic crop worldwide,is often managed in a labor-intensive and inefficient manner in developing countries,thereby necessitating more rapid and accurate alternatives tofield surveys for improved crop *** this study,we propose a novel method for individual tree segmentation from unmanned aerial vehicle remote sensing(RS)using a combination of geographic object-based image analysis(GEOBIA)and layer-adaptive Euclidean distance transformation-based watershed segmentation(LAEDT-WS).First,we use a GEOBIA support vector machine classifier that is optimized for features and parameters to identify the boundaries of citrus tree canopies accurately by generating mask ***,our LAEDT workflow separates connected canopies and facilitates the accurate segmentation of individual canopies using *** method exhibited an F1-score improvement of 10.75%compared to the traditional WS method based on the canopy height ***,it achieved 0.01%and 1.38%higher F1-scores than the state-of-the-art deep learning detection networks YOLOX and YOLACT,respectively,on the test *** method can be extended to detect larger-scale or more complex structured crops or economic plants by introducing morefinely detailed and transferable RS images,such as high-resolution or LiDAR-derived images,to improve the mask base map.

Fabaceae is a large family of angiosperms with high biodiversity that contains a variety of economically important crops and model plants for the study of biological nitrogen *** events have been extensively studied in some Fabaceae plants,but the occurrence of new genes is still concealed,owing to a lack of genomic information on certain species of the basal clade of *** chinensis(Cercidoideae)is one such species;it diverged earliest from Fabaceae and is essential for phylogenomic studies and new gene predictions in *** facilitate genomic studies on Fabaceae,we performed genome sequencing of *** and obtained a 352.84 Mb genome,which was further assembled into seven pseudochromosomes with 30612 predicted protein-coding *** with other legume genomes,that of *** exhibits no lineage-specific polyploidization *** phylogenomic analyses of 22 legumes and 11 other angiosperms revealed that many gene families are lineage specific before and after the diversification of *** them,dozens of genes are candidates for new genes that have evolved from intergenic regions and are thus regarded as de novo-originated *** differ significantly from established genes in coding sequence length,exon number,guanine–cytosine content,and expression patterns among *** analysis revealed that many new genes are related to asparagine *** study represents an important advance in understanding the evolutionary pattern of new genes in legumes and provides a valuable resource for plant phylogenomic studies.

Among the numerous fruit species of Baccaurea ramiflora Lour.,‘LR’(white flesh)and‘BR’(pink flesh)are two kinds of local strains with high *** order to study the metabolic causes of taste differences,we performed the non-targeted metabonomics analysis of‘LR’and‘BR’using LC-MS/MS.541 metabolites were totally identified,and 45 kinds of metabolites(carbohydrates,fatty acids,flavonoids and terpenoids,etc.)were different between the two *** results indicate L-sorbose,D-(+)-glucose,citric acid,L-phenylalanine and oleamide,α-eleostearic acid were the main primary *** significant difference existed in pathways of unsaturated fatty acids between the studied two strains by pathway enrichment *** results demonstrate that the different in composition,as well as the abundance of primary and secondary metabolites may be the potential causes of taste differences,which provides a new insight into the possible metabolic factors setting off the changing taste of ***.
