A new strategy is performed to fabricate conjugated polymer microarray with the assistance of protein in this *** water-soluble cationic conjugated polymer employed in the present work is capable of absorbing light at 510 nm,which makes it compatible with a variety of commercial microarray *** is demonstrated that the protein-assisted conjugated polymer microarray exhibits higher fluorescence signal and better stability in comparison with the case without *** conjugated polymer microarray can be used for sensitive detection of picric acid(PA).A major advantage of our approach is its simplicity and chemical linking is not required between the conjugated polymer and microarray *** the simplicity of the preparation of the conjugated polymer microarray,it is anticipated that novel sensing platforms will be constructed by employing this versatile method.

A new conjugated hyperbranched polymer （hb-TFO） containing tetraphenylethylene （TPE） units, a famous aggregation-induced emission （AIE） active group, as the core, was synthesized successfully with modest yield via one-pot Suzuki polymerization reaction. Thanks to the introduction of TPE moieties, hb-TFO exhibited aggregation-enhanced emission （AEE） property, and could work as explosive chemosensor with high sensitivity. The polymeric light-emitting diode （PLED） device was fabricated to investigate its electroluminescent property, and hb-TFO demonstrated a maximum luminance efficiency of 0.22 cd/A and a maximum brightness of 545 cd/m2 at 15.9 V.

An NLO hyperbranched polymer （HP1） derived from both ＂H＂-type and star-type chromophores was synthesized successfully for the first time with high yield via one-pot ＂A2 ＋ B3＂ Suzuki polymerization reaction. Isolation chromophore was also introduced to further improve its performance. Although under the test conditions, the films of HP1 could not be poled completely, it still demonstrated satisfactory macroscopic NLO effect with the second harmonic generation （SHG） coefficient d33 value of 36 pm/V.

Conducting polymers(CPs) have drawn great attention since the emergence of doped polyacetylene in 1977 [1].The solution processability is a key property for the application of CPs,but it is challenging for highly conductive CPs without flexible side *** et *** 1992 proposed ’counter-ion induced processability’ to achieve the solution-processable conducting polyaniline [2].Since then,a variety of solution-processable CPs have been developed and commercialized.

Theoretical understanding of organic light-emitting diodes started from the quest to the nature of the primary excitation in organic molecular and polymeric materials. We found the electron correlation strength, bond-length alternation as well as the conjugation extent have strong influences on the orderings of the lowest lying excited states through the first application of density matrix renormalization group theory to quantum chemistry. The electro-injected free carriers(with spin 1/2) can form both singlet and triplet bound states. We found that the singlet exciton formation ratio can exceed the conventional 25% spin statistics limit. We proposed a vibration correlation function formalism to evaluate the excited-state decay rates, which is shown to not only give reasonable estimations for the quantum efficiency but also a quantitative account for the aggregation-induced emission(AIE). It is suggested to unravel the AIE mechanism through resonance Raman spectroscopy.

A new method to screen antibiotic combinations is demonstrated,which takes advantage of the logic-signal output of genetically engineered drug-resistant *** strains expressing different fluorescent ***-six antibiotic combinations for nine antibiotics were *** operation of different logic gates can reveal the susceptibility,resistance,or synergistic effect of the antibiotic combinations in a rapid(7–8 h versus 24–28 h for typical growth-based assays),simple,quantitative and high-throughput *** logic-signal-based output patterns provide the basis for novel and reliable screening of antibiotic combinations and help us to both gain insight into the mechanisms of multi-drug action.

A cationic dendritic polyfluorene (PFP) is examined as a siRNA delivery vector. This material was designed to facilitate the nucleic acid binding, encapsulation and efficient cellular uptake. PFP can effectively protect siRNA against nuclease degradation, which is necessary for gene carriers. PFP can be used for multidrug resistance gene-targeted siRNA delivery in doxorubicin (Dox)-resistant human breast cancer cells (MCF7) cells. As a siRNA transfection agent, PFP can efficiently achieve the reversal of drug resistance and enhance the drug sensitivity. These new features and capabilities represent a major step toward conjugated polymers that can function for therapeutic application.

The highly conducting carbon electrodes derived from spin-coated polyacrylonitrile films

Carbon films prepared from pyrolyzation of spin-casted polyacrylonitrile （PAN） thin films display high electrical conductivity （〉600 S/cm, at 1000 ℃ carbonization）, low sheet resistance （about 100 Y2/square at the PAN film thickness of 70 nm） and partial transmittance. These pyrolyzed PAN （PPAN） films were patterned as bottom electrodes by photolithography, and utilized as drain and source electrodes to fabricate organic field-effect transistor （OFET） devices with a p-type semiconductor （P3HT） and an n-type semiconductor （DPP-containing quinoidal small molecule） through a spin-coating procedure. The results showed that the devices with the PAN electrodes exhibited almost the same excellent performance without any further modification compared to those devices with traditional Au electrodes. Since these PPAN films had the advantages of low-cost, high performance, easier for large-area fabrication, thermal and chemical stability, it should be a promising electrode material for organic electrodes.

Perylene bisimide （PBI） unit has been widely used to design conjugated materials, which can be used as electron acceptor in organic solar ceils due to its strong electron-deficient ability. In this work, a conjugated polymer based on PBI dimer as monomer was designed, synthesized, and compared to the conjugated polymer containing single PBI as repeating units. The two conjugated polymers were found to have similar molecular weight, absorption spectra and energy levels. Density functional theory calculation revealed that the PBI dimer-based polymer exhibited highly twisted conjugated backbone due to the large dihedral angle between the two PBI units. The PBI-based polymers as electron acceptor were applied into polymer-polymer solar cells, in which PBI dimer-based polymer solar cells were found to show a high short circuit current density （Jsc = 11.2 ***-2） and a high power conversion efficiency （PCE） of 4.5%. In comparison, the solar cells based on PBI-based polymer acceptor only provided a dsc of 7.2 ***-2 and PCE of 2.5%. The significantly enhanced PCE in PBI dimer-based solar cells was attributed to the mixed phase in blended thin films, as revealed by atom force microscopy. This study demonstrates that PB! dimer can be used to design polymer acceptors for high performance polymer- polymer solar cells.
