Etoposide Induces Mitochondria-Associated Apoptotic Cell Death in Human Gastric Carcinoma Cells

Recent observations indicate that the resistance of apoptosis is an important process of tumor metastasis and metastases are the cause of 90% of human cancer death. Etoposide, a semisynthetic derivative of the podophyllotoxins, is a clinically used anti-cancer reagent, but the effects of it on metastatic gastric carcinoma cells are totally unknown. In this study, etoposide induced apoptotic cell death in human gastric adenocarcinoma cell line SGC-7901, derived from metastatic lymph nodes, as evidenced by the analysis of DNA fragmentation, apoptotic body formation, caspase activation, and apoptosis specific changes in cell morphology is demonstrated. The depolarization of mitochondrial membrane and the release of cytochrome c were most early events in etoposide treated SGC-7901 cells, and were followed by caspase-3 activation and PARP cleavage. Caspase-8 activation was not detected under the same condition. Thus, it was proposed that etoposide induces caspase-associated apoptotic cell death in human metastatic gastric carcinoma, which is initiated by mitochondrial cytochrome c release.

Isolating reductive silver kernel from shell is a challenging task but is quite important to understand the embryonic form during the formation of silver *** intercalation of suitable anionic species may be of benefit for passivating then capturing such highly active ***,we successfully isolated a novel silver thiolate nanocluster[Ag_(13)@Ag_(76)S_(16)(Cyh S)_(42)(p-NH_(2)-Ph As O_(3))_(4)]^(3+)(SD/Ag89 a,Cyh SH=cyclohexanethiol)that contains a well-isolated icosahedral Ag_(13) kernel passivated by four Ag S_(4)^(7-) tetrahedra and four p-NH_(2) Ph As O_(3)^(2-) piercing from outer Ag_(72) *** note,this Ag_(13) kernel is the largest isolable subvalent silver kernel beneath the silver shell with extremely legible core-shell boundary ever before and represents a precise embryonic model formed in the reducing Ag(I)to Ag(0)followed by aggregating to large silver *** reductive role of DMF and the introduction of anionic passivation layer(APL)synergistically modulate the reduction kinetics,facilitating the capture of ultrasmall subvalent silver ***/Ag89 a emits in near infrared(NIR)region(λ_(em)=800 nm)at low *** synthetic strategy shown in this work opens up new opportunities for precisely capturing and recognizing diverse reductive silver kernels in different systems.

Abstract： A new compound 1-ethyl-1＇-（4-vinylbenzyl）-4, 4＇-bipyridinium chloride and iodide has been synthesized. The cyclic voltammogram and impedance spectra indicated that a layer of viologen＇s electrochromic （EC） film could be deposited on conductive ITO glass working electrode With polyelectrolyte as ionic conduction layer, solid EC devices based on this compound have been assembled and their thickness was about 2.35 mm. When different voltages were added, they showed blue or violet red color. After optimization, its response time was less than 50 ms, the number of redox circulation was over 107 and the color of coloration states could be kept for 3 days. This kind of EC device can meet the demand of electronic ink.

An Exceptional Broad-Spectrum Nanobiocide for Multimodal and Synergistic Inactivation of Drug-Resistant Bacteria

This study reports the fabrication of a novel photothermal material formed via the physical blending of excess lauric acid(LA)and cupric acetate,followed by efficient ligand ***,the copper–LA complex exhibited a 12-fold enhancement of the molar extinction coefficient in the nearinfrared(NIR)region relative to aqueous cupric *** by this interesting finding,we formulated these photothermal materials into colloidally dispersed nanoparticles via a technique that combined nanoprecipitation and in situ surface polymerization for antibacterial *** resultant nanoparticles exhibited rapid and stable photothermal responses to NIR irradiation,with a 4-fold enhanced photothermal conversion efficiency relative to aqueous cupric *** a positively charged monomer was incorporated during in situ surface polymerization,these positively charged nanoparticles were ingested efficiently and subsequently digested by drug-resistant *** combining the LA-mediated membrane-damaging effect,copper-mediated Fenton-like reaction,as well as the photothermal effect of the copper–LA complex,a broad-spectrum,multimodal,and synergistic antibacterial effect was achieved both in vitro and in vivo,with the killing efficiency up to 99.99%for ampicillin-resistant Escherichia coli(Ampr ***)and 99.9999%for methicillinresistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA).Our newly developed nanobiocide represents a class of exceptional broad-spectrum antibacterial materials,holding great potential for treating drug-resistant infections in clinical settings.

This work developed a facile way to mass-produce a carbon-coated TiP_2O_7 nanoporous microsphere(TPO-NMS) as anode material for aqueous lithium-ion batteries via solid-phase synthesis combined with spray drying method. TiP_2O_7 shows great prospect as anode for aqueous rechargeable lithium-ion batteries(ALIBs) in view of its appropriate intercalation potential of-0.6 V(vs. SCE) before hydrogen evolution in aqueous electrolytes. The resulting sample presents the morphology of secondary microspheres(ca. 20 μm) aggregated by carbon-coated primary nanoparticles(100 nm), in which the primary nanoparticles with uniform carbon coating and sophisticated pore structure greatly improve its electrochemical performance. Consequently, TPONMS delivers a reversible capacity of 90 mA h/g at 0.1 A/g, and displays enhanced rate performance and good cycling stability with capacity retention of 90% after 500 cycles at 0.2 A/g. A full cell containing TPO-NMS anode and LiMn_2O_4 cathode delivers a specific energy density of 63 W h/kg calculated on the total mass of anode and cathode. It also shows good rate capacity with56% capacity maintained at 10 A/g rate(vs. 0.1 A/g), as well as long cycle life with the capacity retention of 82% after 1000 cycles at 0.5 A/g.

The field of terahertz devices is important in terahertz ***,most of the current devices have limited functionality and poor *** improve device performance and achieve multifunctionality,we designed a terahertz device based on a combination of VO_(2)and *** device can be tuned using the phase-transition characteristics of VO_(2),which is included in the triple-layer structure of the device,along with SiO_(2)and *** terahertz device exhibits various advantageous features,including broadband coverage,high absorption capability,dynamic tunability,simple structural design,polarization insensitivity,and incidentangle *** simulation results showed that by controlling the temperature,the terahertz device achieved a thermal modulation range of spectral absorption from 0 to *** 313 K,the device exhibited complete reflection of terahertz *** the temperature increased,the absorption rate also *** the temperature reached 353 K,the device absorption rate exceeded 97.7%in the range of 5-8.55 *** study used the effective medium theory to elucidate the correlation between conductivity and temperature during the phase transition of VO_(2).Simultaneously,the variation in device performance was further elucidated by analyzing and depicting the intensity distribution of the electric field on the device surface at different ***,the impact of various structural parameters on device performance was examined,offering valuable insights and suggestions for selecting suitable parameter values in real-world *** characteristics render the device highly promising for applications in stealth technology,energy harvesting,modulation,and other related fields,thus showcasing its significant potential.

A new compound 2-（3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxyphenyl）-2-（3,4-dimethylphenyl） acetic acid dimethylamine salt （[NH2（CH3）2][C24H31O3]） was synthesized and structurally determined. It is of monoclinic system, space group P21/c with a = 14.731（2）, b = 10.1185（10）, c = 17.065（2） A^°, β = 98.293（10）° ,Z = 4, V = 2517.0（6）A^°^3, Dc = 1.091 g/cm^3, F（000） = 904 and Mr= 413.58. The dihedral angle defined by two benzene rings is 98.23°.

In this work,we proposed a green and cost-effective method to prepare a graphene-based hyper-cross-linked porous carbon composite(GN/HCPC)by one-pot carbonization of hyper-cross-linked polymer(HCP)and *** composite combined the advantages of graphene(GN)and hyper-cross-linked porous carbon(HCPC),leading to high specific surface area(396.93 m^2/g)and large total pore volume(0.413 cm^3/g).The resulting GN/HCPC composite was applied as an adsorbent to remove 2,4-dichlorophenol(2,4-DCP)from aqueous *** influence of different solution conditions including pH,ionic strength,contact time,system temperature and concentration of humic acid was *** maximum adsorption capacity of GN/HCPC composite(calculated by the Langmuir model)could reach 348.43 mg/g,which represented increases of 43.6%and 13.6%over those of the as-prepared pure GN and HCPC,*** Langmuir model and pseudo-second-order kinetic model were found to fit well with the adsorption *** experiments suggested that the adsorption proceeded spontaneously and *** addition,the GN/HCPC composite showed high adsorption performance toward other organic contaminants including tetracycline,bisphenol A and *** of the adsorption capability of GN/HCPC in secondary effluent revealed a slight decrease over that in pure water *** study demonstrated that the GN/HCPC composite can be utilized as a practical and efficient adsorbent for the removal of organic contaminants in wastewater.
