Designing a dual-functional material with barrier anti-corrosion and photocatalytic antifouling properties using g-C_(3)N_(4) nanosheet with ZnO nanoring

As a semiconductor material with a 2 D-laminate structure, g-C_(3)N_(4)(bandwidth 2.7 e V) has a similar structure and excellent performance to graphene. However, high surface energy and photogenerated e–h recombination of g-C_(3)N_(4)seriously hinder its application in the field of marine anticorrosion and antifouling.To solve these problems, we synthesized the g-C_(3)N_(4)nanosheets decorated with Zn O nanoring via chemical etching technology. Whether the NR Zn O-CNNs have surface protection performance among the pure EP on the corrosion protection for metal substrate were investigated. The antifouling properties NR Zn OCNNs hybrid were also estimated through photocatalytic bacterial and algae resistance tests. Combined with the electrochemical results, it was found that the impedance modulus of NR Zn O-CNNs/EP within 45 days showed two orders of magnitude higher than that of pure EP in the 3.5 wt% Na Cl solution. Besides, Local electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(LEIS) further explored the anticorrosion behavior of NR Zn O-CNNs/EP coating, which indicated that the NR Zn O-CNNs/EP coating with a scratch maintained an excellent corrosion resistance between 0–24 h. Under the visible light conditions, the lifetime of photogenerated e–h was prolonged due to the formation of NR Zn O-CNNs heterojunction structure, it was observed that the antibacterial rate against Bacillus subtilis reached 100% within 8 h. An Antialgae test was performed on chlorella seawater solution, which indicated that 5 mg/m L of NR Zn O-CNNs hybrid could make chlorella sharply reduce within 4 days. Simultaneously, the corrosion protection and photocatalytic antifouling mechanisms of NR Zn O-CNNs were proposed, thus it provided a broader platform for the design of versatile marine protection materials.

Tribological properties in seawater for Ti/TiCN coatings on Ti6Al4V alloy by arc ion plating with different carbon contents

TiCN coatings incorporated with Ti buffer layer were deposited on Ti6A14V alloy by arc ion plating. The carbon content in TiCN coatings was varied by controlling flow rates of C2H2 in reactive gas. The Ti/TiCN coatings have a typical structure of columnar crystal with a total thickness of about 2 pro. The elements of Ti, C and N are present as TiN and TiC in TiCN coatings. A little free carbon appears with carbon content increasing in TiCN coatings. For the TiCN coatings, the hardness, friction coefficient and wear rate decrease with the increase in carbon content. In seawater, both friction coefficient and wear rate have an obvious decrease at lower carbon content compared with those in atmosphere. However, the friction coefficient and wear rate only have a slight decrease, while the carbon content reaches or exceeds 10 at% in Ti/TiCN coatings.

Structural Optimization of Polyimide Foam via Composition with Hyperbranched Polymer Modified Fluorinated Carbon Nanotubes

The key to improve the foam’s performance is to optimize the cellular structure and its bulk-material composition.Here,the hyperbranched polymer modified fluorinated multi-walled carbon nanotube(HPMCNT-F)based on the nucleophilic reactions of MCNT-F was successfully prepared and used to composite with PI foams.The pristine MCNT shows a poor dispersity and weak interfacial interaction with PI matrix.While HPMCNT-F exhibits an excellent dispersity and effectively forms covalent/non-covalent interaction with PI matrix due to the surface-structure engineering,resulting in the enhancement of the PI bulk.Furthermore,HPMCNT-F works as a heterogeneous nucleation agent in PI foam to optimize the cellular structure.The enhancement of PI bulk and the optimizing of cellular structure result in the increase of compressive special strength of composite foam by 58.9%with a low loading of 1.6 wt%HPMCNT-F.Moreover,the hyperbranched polymers effectively prevent the thermal conduction among HPMCNT-F,and the isolated MCNTs effectively block thermal radiation through absorption and reflection the infrared waves.Thus,the thermal conductivity was reduced by 8.0%simultaneously.

本文研究了Cu-8Al合金在电弧熔丝增材制造过程中的微观组织、物相、显微硬度和拉伸性能的演化行为。结果表明,刚沉积的CuAl合金晶粒为尺寸较大的枝晶,在后道次的热影响作用下转变成较细小的柱状晶,而后柱状晶长大,直到晶粒尺寸在距样品端部几毫米的位置趋于稳定。刚沉积的CuAl合金发生Al的枝晶偏析,但在后道次热影响的作用下偏析可消除,使合金组织和成分均匀化。板状样品端部即最后沉积未受后续热影响的位置显微硬度高达HV 160,但随着Al偏析的消除以及枝晶转变成柱状晶,硬度降低到HV 80。原位拉伸结果显示CuAl合金板的抗拉强度高达400 MPa,伸长率可达50%,其屈服强度还有一定的提升空间。拉伸过程中原位观察到了位错滑移和晶粒转动,断裂机制总体为韧窝断裂,端部屈服强度更高、塑性略低、晶粒转动更普遍。总体上电弧熔丝增材制造的CuAl合金板除端部之外组织均匀,具备良好的力学性能。如需其组织性能均匀,或要求高耐蚀性,有必要在沉积后对端部进行局部热处理;如需更好的耐磨性能则不需处理。可进一步添加少量析出强化元素提高CuAl合金的强度与耐磨性能。

Corrosion Resistance of Graphene-Reinforced Waterborne Epoxy Coatings

Graphene （G） was dispersed uniformly in water and used as an inhibitor in waterborne epoxy coatings. The effect of dispersed G on anticorrosion performance of epoxy coatings was evaluated. The composite coatings displayed outstanding barrier properties against H20 molecule compared to the neat epoxy coating. Open circuit potential （OCP）, Tafel and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy （EIS） analysis confirmed that the corrosion rate exhibited by composite coatings with 0.5 wt% G was an order of magnitude lower than that of neat epoxy coating. Salt spray test results revealed superior corrosion resistance offered by the composite coating.

Efficient prediction of corrosion behavior in ternary Ni-based alloy systems:Theoretical calculations and experimental verification

Pourbaix diagrams are calculated to describe electrochemical processes for alloys in aqueous solution.With the multi-component differentiation of alloy systems,the construction of Pourbaix diagrams is fac-ing challenges,especially for non-single-phase alloy systems.In this study,the simultaneous construction of phase diagrams and Pourbaix diagrams were implemented for predicting the evolution of the phases in the immune and passive regions.The CALPHAD(CALculation of PHAse Diagram)approach was used to quickly access the Gibbs free energies of various phases and the chemical potential of the elements in the phases from the thermodynamic database of the Ni-Si-Al-Y system.The corrosion behavior of two typical Ni-Al-Si and Ni-Al-Y systems was investigated.Si and Y were added to Ni-based alloys to produce the solid solutions L12-Ni_(3)(Al,Si)and L12-Ni_(3)Al+Ni_(5)Y,respectively.Calculations showed that NiO and Al_(2)O_(3)make up the passive area of the Ni_(3)Al 1 alloy.The introduction of SiO_(2)and Y(OH)3 in the passive region separately helped to minimize the alloys’susceptibility to corrosion.However,Si reduced the thermody-namical possibility of NiO for mation in the passive film,and the addition of Y caused extreme galvanic corrosion.Experiments on Ni-based alloys validated the results through electrochemical corrosion.It was also discovered that the presence of Ni_(5)Y produced galvanic corrosion and that Si reduced the oxide in the passive film,causing pitting corrosion.The corrosion prediction of the quaternary alloys indicates that the solid solution of Si in Ni_(5)Y reduces the galvanic corrosion effect and the dissolution of passive film.The current work demonstrates that phase diagrams and Pourbaix diagrams may be efficiently and accurately predicted using a well-constructed thermodynamic database,which has major implications for future studies on the corrosion behavior of multi-component alloys.

Rare-earth(RE)elements,known as“industrial vitamins”,have permeated modern lives,especially in high-tech applications.Although the RE elements possess close chemical similarities and have been treated as“one element”in the periodic table,their characteristics differ from each other.The RE microalloying effect is the crux to ameliorate the physicomechanical and thermochemical properties of materials,thereby the study of RE-related phase diagrams becomes indispensable to the design and optimization of RE-containing materials.However,in reality,the knowledge base in this area is considerably scarce compared with that of other commonly-used elements.In this work,the phase equilibria,phase diagrams,phase transformations,and some recent examples of RE-containing materials design are summarized,with which one can predict the RE solubilities,the RE precipitates,as well as the corresponding service behaviors.The attainment of enhanced materials’properties suggests that the thermodynamic rules extracted from the phase diagrams could serve as fundamental criteria for the successful development of novel RE-containing materials.

Self-assembling anchored film basing on two tetrazole derivatives for application to protect copper in sulfuric acid environment

Two tetrazole compounds(BTA,BTTA)self-assembled on copper substrate and their inhibition effect toward copper corrosion in 0.5 M H2SO4 was evaluated through atomic force microscopy(AFM),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),weight loss measurement along with electrochemical techniques including electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS)and potentiodynamic polarization.Results indicate that BTTA can provide superior inhibition performance to BTA,and the highest inhibition efficiency values of 96.3%(BTA)and 99.8%(BTTA)were achieved respectively at 2 mM.Both tetrazole inhibitor films follow Langmuir model concerning both physical and chemical adsorption,which can be verified by Xray photoelectronic spectroscopy(XPS)analysis.Besides,the negative value of adsorption free energy infers a spontaneous adsorption process of these tetrazole compounds on Cu surface.Molecular dynamics(MD)simulation reveals stronger multiple anchor adsorption of BTTA molecules than BTA because of the existence of S atom.

Insight into the high-temperature tribological mechanism of VAlTiCrW high entropy alloy film:AlV_(3)O_(9)from tribochemistry

High-entropy alloys have made significant progress in high mechanical properties,wear resistance,and corrosion resistance properties.Excellent tribological properties,especially high-temperature lubrication,have become another sought performance.In this work,VAlTiCrW high-entropy alloy film with body-centered cubic(BCC)structure was prepared on superalloy substrate by magnetron sputtering.It is found that the VAlTiCrW film shows very low friction coefficient of 0.15 and a low wear rate of 10^(-5) orders of magnitude at 800℃.After 800℃oxidation,the film can still obtain a friction coefficient of no more than 0.2 at 700℃.XRD and TEM revealed the formation of ternary oxide AlV_(3)O_(9)with preferred orientation of(002)crystal plane with large spacing of 0.71 nm on the wear surface of the film,a high-temperature lubricating phase that has not been reported,realizes the low friction coefficient.This AlV_(3)O_(9)can be formed by tribochemical reaction under the thermal-mechanical action at 700℃,but pre-oxidation at 800℃is the prerequisite in order to form the precursors of V-rich and Al-rich oxide layer.

Double-Layer Hydrogels with Tunable Mechanofluorochromic Response for Smart Display

Mechanofluorochromic materials that render sensitive fluorescence color/pattern change upon mechanical stimuli have drawn extensive attention.However,traditional mechanofluorochromism relies on the chemical transformations of mechanophores,but their types are quite few.It remains challenging to develop mechanofluorochromic materials with customized fluorescence color changing response.Herein,a generally applicable strategy is proposed to present a class of double-layer mechanofluorochromic hydrogels based on the facile integration of two different-colored fluorescent hydrogels.Due to the UV transmittance change of top layer under Poisson’s effect,the emission intensity ratio of the upper and lower hydrogels exhibits a strain-dependent change,resulting in a force-triggered overlapping color variation.Both the UV transmittance of top layer and the fluorescence emission of bottom layer can be readily modulated to enrich the variety of mechanofluorochromism.Besides,the bottom layer is available to be printed by ion inks to fabricate patterned double-layer fluorescent hydrogel,holding great potential to design flexible mechanofluorochromic platforms for smart display and information encryption.
