Good indoor environmental quality enhances occupant health,comfort and productivity. In order to know the status of indoor environmental quality of underground shopping malls,five large underground shopping malls in five central districts of Chongqing,China,were surveyed. 2 411 questionnaires were distributed,and 98.5% of them were returned. From the results of questionnaire survey,the following conclusions were obtained:(1) in the five underground shopping malls surveyed,only shopping mall D in Nan'an district accords with the ASHRAE standard for good indoor air quality; (2) odors and sick building syndrome (SBS) symptoms are widespread in the underground shopping malls. The SBS occurrence rates for women and salespersons are higher than those of men and customers,respectively; (3) in the evaluation of the indoor environment,the indoor air quality dissatisfaction rate is the highest,followed by the thermal environment; and (4) women and salespersons generally have higher rates of dissatisfaction with the indoor environmental quality of underground shopping malls than men and customers,respectively.

three strains of aerobic denitrifiers,named as AT3,AT6 and AT7,were isolated from concentric-circles reactor with diversion wall possessing simultaneous nitrification and denitrification (SND) effect of 69%. The three strains are all gram-positive and rod-shaped,and their colonial colors are pale yellow,milk white and pink,respectively. Combined with 16SrDNA sequence homology comparison and biochemical tests,AT3 and AT7 were identified to belong to Rhodococcus,and AT6 to Gordonia. These bacterial strains could grow well in the medium with potassium nitrate as nitrogen source and sodium citrate as carbon source. Based on the enhanced nitrogen removal experiments of selected bacteria mixture for activated sludge,the inoculum amount of 5% was supposed to be proper. The mixed biomass suspension of selected strains with PVA immobilization was put into the concentric-circles reactor in order to study the characteristics of enhanced nitrogen removal after amplifying cultivation with inoculated amount of 5%. The experimental results show that the average removal efficiencies of ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N) and total nitrogen (TN) in the reactor enhanced with aerobic denitrifying bacteria using PVA are 92.18% and 79.14% respectively,increasing by 5.29% and 7.83% respectively compared with removal effects of control group without strains enhancement.

An effective electrochemical signal amplification strategy based on enzyme membrane modification and redox probe immobilization was proposed to construct an amperometric immunosensor.L-cysteine@ferrocene functionalized chitosan,which possessed not only efficient redox-activity but also excellent film-forming ability,was coated on the bare glass carbon electrode. Moreover,the thiol groups(SH)in the ferrocenyl compound were used for gold nanoparticles immobilization via the strong bonding interaction,which could further be utilized for the immobilization of antibody biomolecules with well-retained ***,glucose oxidase(GOD)as the enzyme membrane was employed to block the possible remaining active sites and avoid the nonspecific *** the excellent electrocatalytic properties of GOD towards glucose,the amplification of antigen-antibody interaction and the enhanced sensitivity could be *** the optimal conditions,the linear range of the proposed immunosensor for the determination of carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)was from 0.05 to 100 ng/mL with a detection limit of 0.02 ng/mL(S/N=3).Moreover,the immunosensor exhibited good selectivity,stability and reproducibility, which provided a promising potential for clinical immunoassay.

Polymerase chain reaction-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis （pCR-DGGE） and microelectrode technology were employed to evaluate the Nitrous oxide （N2O） production in biological aerated filters （BAFs） under varied dissolved oxygen （DO） concentrations during treating wastewater under laboratory scale. The average yield of gasous N2O showed more than 4-fold increase when the DO levels were reduced from 6.0 to 2.0 mg·L^-1, indicating that low DO may drive N2O generation. PCRDGGE results revealed that Nitratifractor salsuginis were dominant and may be responsible for N2O emission from the BAFs system. While at a low DO concentration （2.0 mg·L^-1）, Flavobacterium urocaniciphilum might playa role. When DO concentration was the limiting factor （reduced from 6.0 to 2.0 mg·L^-1） for nitrification, it reduced NO2^--N oxidation as well as the total nitrification. The data from this study contribute to explain how N2O production changes in response to DO concentration, and may be helpful for reduction ofN2O through regulation of DO levels.

On the basis of practical projects in Chongqing,the thermal performance of heat exchangers (single U-tube type and double U-tube type) of the ground-source heat pump (GSHP) system in the hot summer was obtained and analyzed. The data obtained from test could match with the result deduced from theoretical calculation. From the test results,the cooling capacity of double U-tube is 1.6 times that of single U-tube. Taking cost per depth per watt Clq as the evaluation standard,Clq of single U-tube is 4.69 RMB$/W,and Clq of double U-tube is 3.14 RMB$/W. The double U-tube heat exchangers usage should be prioritized.

Mercury （Hg） contents in ten chemical fertilizers were determined, and the effect of calcium superphosphate （CSP） on the uptake and translocation of Hg in corn seedlings was investigated by pot experiments. CSP was applied at the levels of 0, 66.7, and 133.4 mg P2O5/kg to Hg-treated （2 mg/kg） and untreated soils. CSP had the highest Hg content （5.1 mg/kg）, followed by the NPK compound fertilizer 15-5-5 （15% N, 5% P2O5, 5% K2O）（1.2 mg/kg）, then by nitrogen fertilizers （except for ammonia sulfate） and potassium fertilizers. Application of CSP did not obviously iuence the biomass of corn roots, but it significantly increased the biomass of corn shoots in Hg-treated soil. Application of CSP at the levels of 66.7 and 133.4 mg P2O5/kg did not obviously iuence the uptake of Hg by corn seedlings on soils without Hg treatment, but it decreased the Hg uptake of corn seedlings significantly on Hg-treated soils. The transfer coefficient of Hg in corn seedlings improved slightly on soils without Hg treatment, but decreased slightly on Hg-treated soils with the application of CSP. These results implied that CSP could ameliorate Hg toxicity to corn seedlings by inhibiting the uptake and the translocation of Hg in plants on Hg-polluted soils.

Influence of landfill structures on stabilization of fully recycled leachate

The experiment was conducted to treat the leachate from two simulating columns by recycling to the columns themselves without being discharged into the enviroment. The columns were employed to simulate anaerobic and semi-aerobic landfills separately. The influence of landfill structure on stabilization of fully recycled leachate was studied. The results show that semi-aerobic landfill structure accelerates the stabilization of leachate recycled. The full recycle of leachate in semi-aerobic landfill is a very feasible and effective technology for leachate treatment with low cost and energy saving especially in arid and rare rainfall regions. Meanwhile, the environmental impact of landfill can be greatly minimized.

The features of organic pollutants degradation mainly characterized by bio-flocculation for step-A of adsorption-biodegredation（AB） process were studied. By investigating the relationship of extracellular polymeric substances（EPS） with bioflocculation and introducing kinetic model of organic pollutant degradation into EPS, the kinetic model of organic pollutant degradation for step-A hioflocculation was deducted. And through the experiments, the kinetic constants were calculated as follows： k1 =0. 005 3; kc1 =1 710.7 and vmax1=10 min^-1.

Plants produce nutritious,fleshy fruits that attract various animals to facilitate seed dispersal and recruitment ***-specific differential selection of seed size by multiple frugivorous disperser assemblages may affect the subsequent germination of the ingested ***,there is little empirical evidence supporting this *** the present study,we documented conflicting selection pressures exerted on seed size and germination by five frugivorous carnivores on a mammal-dispersed pioneer tree,the date-plum persimmon(Diospyros lotus),in a subtropical *** analyses revealed that these carnivores acted as primary seed dispersers of *** also observed that seed sizes were selected based on body mass and were species-specific,confirming the“gape limitation”hypothesis;three small carnivores(the masked palm civet Paguma larvata,yellow-throated marten Martes flavigula,and Chinese ferret-badger Melogale moschata)significantly preferred to disperse smaller seeds in comparison with control seeds obtained directly from wild plants whereas the largest Asiatic black bears(Ursus thibetanus)ingested larger *** dispersed by medium-sized hog badgers(Arctonyx albogularis)were not significantly different from control ***,regarding the influence of gut passage on seed germination,three arboreal dispersal agents(martens,civets,and bears)enhanced germination success whereas terrestrial species(ferret-badgers and hog badgers)inhibited the germination process compared with undigested control *** conflicting selection pressures on seed size and germination may enhance the heterogeneity of germination dynamics and thus increase species fitness through diversification of the regeneration *** results advance our understanding of seed dispersal mechanisms and have important implications for forest recruitment and ecosystem dynamics.

An advanced sludge reduction process, i.e. sludge reduction and phosphorous removal process, was developed. The results show that excellent sludge reduction and biological phosphorous removal can be achieved perfectly in this system. When chemical oxygen demand ρ（COD） is 332 - 420 mg/L, concentration of ammonia p（NH3-N） is 30 - 40 mg/L and concentration of total phosphorous p（TP） is 6.0 -9.0 mg/L in influent, the system still ensures ρ（COD）〈23 mg/L, ρ（NH3-N）〈3.2 mg/L and ρ（TP）〈0. 72 mg/L in effluent. Besides, when the concentration of dissolved oxygen ρ（DO） is around 1.0 mg/L, sludge production is less than 0. 140 g with the consumption of 1 g COD, and the phosphorous removal exceeds 91 %. Also, 48.4% of total nitrogen is removed by simultaneous nitrification and denitrification.
