Possible light bosonic dark matter interactions with the Standard Model photon have been searched using microwave resonant cavities. In this paper, we describe the cryogenic readout system calibration of a 7.138 GHz copper cavity with a loaded quality factor Ql= 104whose operation at a temperature of 22 mK is based on a dilution refrigerator. Our readout system consists of High Electron Mobility Transistors working as cryogenic amplifiers at 4 K, plus room-temperature amplifiers and a spectrum analyzer for signal power detection. We tested the system with a superconducting two-level system based on a single-photon source in the microwave frequency regime. We obtained an overall 95.6 dB system gain and –71.4 dB attenuation in the cavity's input channel. The effective noise temperature of the measurement system is 7.5 K.

The simulation of intercity population mobility helps to deepen the understanding of intercity population mobility and its underlying laws,which has great importance for epidemic prevention and control,social management,and even urban *** are many factors that affect intercity population mobility,such as socioeconomic attributes,geographical distance,and industrial *** complexity of the coupling among these factors makes it difficult to simulate intercity population *** address this issue,we propose a novel method named the quantum harmonic oscillator model for simulation of intercity population mobility(QHO-IPM).QHO-IPM describes the intercity population mobility as being affected by coupled driving factors that work as a multioscillator-coupled quantum harmonic oscillator system,which is further transformed by the oscillation process of an oscillator,namely,the breaking point of intercity population *** intercity population mobility among seven cities in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and its surrounding region is taken as an example for verifying the *** experimental results show that(1)compared with the reference methods(the autoregressive integrated moving average(ARIMA)and long and short-term memory(LSTM)models),the QHO-IPM achieves better simulation performance regarding intercity population mobility in terms of both overall trend and mutation.(2)The simulation error in the QHO-IPM for different-level intercity population mobility is small and stable,which illustrates the weak sensitivity of the QHO-IPM to intercity population mobility under different structures.(3)The discussion regarding the influence degree of different driving factors reveals the significant“one dominant and multiple auxiliary”factor pattern of driving factors on intercity population mobility in the study *** proposed method has the potential to provide valuable support for understanding intercity population mobility laws and related de

Low-Rank Optimal Transport for Robust Domain Adaptation

When encountering the distribution shift between the source(training) and target(test) domains, domain adaptation attempts to adjust the classifiers to be capable of dealing with different domains. Previous domain adaptation research has achieved a lot of success both in theory and practice under the assumption that all the examples in the source domain are welllabeled and of high quality. However, the methods consistently lose robustness in noisy settings where data from the source domain have corrupted labels or features which is common in reality. Therefore, robust domain adaptation has been introduced to deal with such problems. In this paper, we attempt to solve two interrelated problems with robust domain adaptation:distribution shift across domains and sample noises of the source domain. To disentangle these challenges, an optimal transport approach with low-rank constraints is applied to guide the domain adaptation model training process to avoid noisy information influence. For the domain shift problem, the optimal transport mechanism can learn the joint data representations between the source and target domains using a measurement of discrepancy and preserve the discriminative information. The rank constraint on the transport matrix can help recover the corrupted subspace structures and eliminate the noise to some extent when dealing with corrupted source data. The solution to this relaxed and regularized optimal transport framework is a convex optimization problem that can be solved using the Augmented Lagrange Multiplier method, whose convergence can be mathematically proved. The effectiveness of the proposed method is evaluated through extensive experiments on both synthetic and real-world datasets.

Since the first successful fabrication in 2004 [1], graphene has received tremendous attention due to its extremely simple atomic structure and alluring physical properties. For example, its massless low energy excitations have a linear dispersion and thus its transport property is governed by Dirac equation instead of Schr?dinger equation. These special electronic structures suppress the intra-valley and inter-valley backscatterings, leading to the half-integer and fractional quantum Hall effect [2] under magnetic field and the relativistic quantum tunneling described by the Klein paradox [3].

A method for support stiffness failure identification in a steel spring floating slab track of urban railway: a case study in China

Delayed-measurement one-way quantum computing on cloud quantum computer

One-way quantum computation focuses on initially generating an entangled cluster state followed by a sequence of measurements with classical communication of their individual outcomes. Recently, a delayed-measurement approach has been applied to replace classical communication of individual measurement outcomes. In this work, by considering the delayed-measurement approach, we demonstrate a modified one-way CNOT gate using the on-cloud superconducting quantum computing platform: Quafu. The modified protocol for one-way quantum computing requires only three qubits rather than the four used in the standard protocol. Since this modified cluster state decreases the number of physical qubits required to implement one-way computation, both the scalability and complexity of the computing process are improved. Compared to previous work, this modified one-way CNOT gate is superior to the standard one in both fidelity and resource requirements. We have also numerically compared the behavior of standard and modified methods in large-scale one-way quantum computing. Our results suggest that in a noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) era, the modified method shows a significant advantage for one-way quantum computation.

Improving the speed of ghost imaging is one of the main ways to leverage its advantages in sensitivity and imperfect spectral regions for practical applications. Because of the proportional relationship between image resolution and measurement time, when the image pixels are large, the measurement time increases, making it difficult to achieve real-time imaging. Therefore, a high-quality ghost imaging method based on undersampled natural-order Hadamard is *** method uses the characteristics of the Hadamard matrix under undersampling conditions where image information can be fully obtained but overlaps, as well as deep learning to extract aliasing information from the overlapping results to obtain the true original image information. We conducted numerical simulations and experimental tests on binary and grayscale objects under undersampling conditions to demonstrate the effectiveness and scalability of this method. This method can significantly reduce the number of measurements required to obtain high-quality image information and advance application promotion.

Retrieval of Thin-Ice Thickness(TIT) using thermodynamic modeling is sensitive to the parameterization of the independent variables(coded in the model) and the uncertainty of the measured input variables. This article examines the deviation of the classical model's TIT output when using different parameterization schemes and the sensitivity of the output to the ice thickness. Moreover, it estimates the uncertainty of the output in response to the uncertainties of the input variables. The parameterized independent variables include atmospheric longwave emissivity, air density, specific heat of air, latent heat of ice, conductivity of ice, snow depth, and snow conductivity. Measured input parameters include air temperature, ice surface temperature, and wind *** the independent variables, the results show that the highest deviation is caused by adjusting the parameterization of snow conductivity and depth, followed ice conductivity. The sensitivity of the output TIT to ice thickness is highest when using parameterization of ice conductivity, atmospheric emissivity, and snow conductivity and depth. The retrieved TIT obtained using each parameterization scheme is validated using in situ measurements and satellite-retrieved data. From in situ measurements, the uncertainties of the measured air temperature and surface temperature are found to be high. The resulting uncertainties of TIT are evaluated using perturbations of the input data selected based on the probability distribution of the measurement error. The results show that the overall uncertainty of TIT to air temperature, surface temperature, and wind speed uncertainty is around 0.09 m, 0.049 m, and-0.005 m, respectively.
