Aerodynamic Optimization and Flow Mechanism for a Compressor Cascade at Low Reynolds Number

Low-Reynolds-number effect is an important factor affecting the performance of compressors and other main components of high-altitude long-endurance unmanned aerial *** improve the flow condition and reduce flow loss under the condition of high altitude and low Reynolds number(Re),this paper proposes an optimization process based on a surrogate model,which combines the class-shape transformation method(CST),the Latin hypercube sampling(LHS)method,the light gradient-boosting machine algorithm(LightGBM),and a genetic algorithm(GA)to optimize a high-subsonic compressor *** surrogate model is verified to be accurate and can be used in the optimization *** accuracy of the GA is higher than the other algorithms under common test *** optimization results are verified by numerical simulation,and the flow differences before and after optimization are compared,especially the flow within the boundary *** changing the blade shape,the optimization process adjusts the loading distribution to delay the transition of the optimized blade on the suction surface,which changes the turbulent reattachment in the laminar separation bubble(LSB)into laminar ***,the mixing loss induced by the turbulent reattachment of the LSB and the wake loss of turbulent separation at the trailing edge are significantly reduced,and the performance of the compressor profile is finally *** addition,turbulent separation of the optimized profile is delayed reducing the range of the wake region on the suction *** this optimization process,the reduction of total pressure loss coefficient at Re of 2.5×10^(5),3.5×10^(5),and 4.5×10^(5) are 16.32%,20.76%,and 22.16%,respectively.

Compound hot drought events in the Mei-yu region:influences from polar and tropical regions

In the Mei-yu region,there has been noticeable increase in the occurrence of compound hot drought(CHD)events in recent ***,the underlying causes of these occurrences remain poorly *** address this knowledge gap,we conducted a comprehensive study utilizing observational datasets,reanalysis datasets,and four numerical experiments to investigate the associated physical *** findings indicated that the prevalence of CHD events in the Mei-yu region is influenced strongly by two key factors:the decline in Barents Sea ice during February and the presence of a La Ni?alike pattern of sea surface temperature(SST)in *** decline in Barents Sea ice generates an anomalous Rossby wave in the Arctic that propagates *** La Ni?a-like SST pattern regulates a Rossby wave over western America,propagating along the subtropical jet *** two Rossby waves induce northward movement and strengthened intensity of the subtropical westerly jet in East *** local circulation patterns in the Mei-yu region are influenced by the position and intensity of the subtropical jet,leading to downward motion in accordance with the secondary circulation theory for high-altitude jet ***,these local circulation patterns might contribute to occurrence of CHD ***,our analysis revealed that the impact of Barents Sea ice and the La Ni?a-like SST pattern can explain approximately two-thirds of the mild CHD events in the Mei-yu region,and that the influence of each is relatively *** research underscores influences of polar–tropical systems on climate extremes in eastern Asia.

The temporal and spatial evolution of the Ailao Shan-Red River(ASRR)fault zone,which serves as an important accommodation zone for the extrusion and escape of the Southeastern Tibetan Plateau,is crucial for analyzing the uplift and growth of the *** on the petrology and apatite fission track analysis,the tectonic history and active pattern of the ASRR fault zone since the middle Miocene are determined in this *** ASRR fault zone exhibits 12-8Ma and 8-4 Ma rapid cooling phases since the middle *** 12-8 Ma and 8-4 Ma cooling may imply that the dextral movement of the ASRR fault zone presents a migration trend from northwest to southeast,accompanied by the weakening of the activity intensity,which is directly related to deformation processes,including extrusion boundary migration and active tectonic movements of the southeastern Tibetan Plateau,since the middle-late Miocene.

Transcription termination is a crucial step in gene expression and is pivotal for the accurate completion of mRNA *** bacteria and eukaryotes employ distinct regulatory mechanisms for this process, intriguing parallels exist. In bacteria, transcription termination occurs via two primary mechanisms:the intrinsic (Rho-independent) and the Rho-dependent pathways. The intrinsic pathway hinges on the formation of a hairpin loop by specific RNA sequences and the following poly(U) sequence, which prompts the release of the nascent RNA and the detachment of RNA polymerase(RNAP) from DNA (You et al., 2023).

A Simulation Study to Assess Impacts of Habitat-Dependent Parameters of Surplus Production Model on Stock Assessment of Chilean Jack Mackerel in the Southeast Pacific Ocean

Pelagic fish are the most abundant species in upwelling regions,contributing 25%of total global fisheries ***-driven changes in the marine environment play a crucial role in their population *** Chilean jack mackerel(Trachurus murphyi)as an example,this study conducted simulations to quantify the impacts of environmental variations on the stock assessment.A habitat-based surplus production model was developed by integrating suitable habitat area into the model parameters carrying capacity(K)and intrinsic growth rate(r),with a suitable habitat area serving as the proxy for the environmental conditions for Chilean jack mackerel in the Southeast Pacific *** dynamics of Chilean jack mackerel stock and fisheries data were simulated,and four assessment models with different configurations were built to fit simulated data,with or without considering environmental *** results indicated that Joint K-r model,which integrated both parameters with the suitable habitat area index,outperformed the others by coming closest to the‘true'population *** habitat variations in the estimation model tended to overestimate biomass and underestimate harvest rate and reference *** observation and process error,the results were estimated with bias,while FMSY is relatively *** research illustrates the importance to consider random errors and environmental influences on populations,and provides foundation guidelines for future stock assessment.

Timely and accurate forecasting of storm surges can effectively prevent typhoon storm surges from causing large economic losses and casualties in coastal *** present,numerical model forecasting consumes too many resources and takes too long to compute,while neural network forecasting lacks regional data to train regional forecasting *** this study,we used the DUAL wind model to build typhoon wind fields,and constructed a typhoon database of 75 processes in the northern South China Sea using the coupled Advanced Circulation-Simulating Waves Nearshore(ADCIRC-SWAN)***,a neural network with a Res-U-Net structure was trained using the typhoon database to forecast the typhoon processes in the validation dataset,and an excellent storm surge forecasting effect was achieved in the Pearl River Estuary *** storm surge forecasting effect of stronger typhoons was improved by adding a branch structure and transfer learning.

Palmitoylation-mediated NLRP3 inflammasome activation in teleosts highlights evolutionary divergence in immune regulation

NLRP3 inflammasome activation is pivotal for cytokine secretion and pyroptosis in response to diverse stimuli,playing a crucial role in innate immunity. While extensively studied in mammals, the regulatory mechanisms governing NLRP3 activation in non-mammalian vertebrates remain largely unexplored. Teleosts, as basal vertebrates,represent an ideal model for exploring the evolutionary trajectory of inflammasome regulation. In this study, ABE assays, confocal microscopy, and biochemical analyses were applied to systematically characterize the mechanisms underlying NLRP3 inflammasome in teleosts,using large yellow croakers(Larimichthys crocea, Lc) and zebrafish(Danio rerio, Dr) as representative models. Our findingsrevealedapreviouslyunrecognized palmitoylation-dependent regulatory mechanism essential for teleost NLRP3 activation. Specifically, zDHHC18-mediated palmitoylation at a teleost-specific cysteine residue(C946 in Lc NLRP3, C1037 in Dr NLRP3) was required for the translocation of NLRP3 to the dispersed trans-Golgi network, facilitating its subsequent recruitment to the microtubule-organizing center. This membrane trafficking was crucial for inflammasome assembly and downstream inflammatory responses. These findings provide new insights into the distinct regulatory mechanisms of NLRP3 activation in teleosts, highlighting an evolutionary divergence that contributes to innate immunity adaptation in early vertebrates.

Improvements to the statistical theoretical model for wave breaking based on the ratio of breaking wave kinetic and potential energy

An improvement was proposed for the statistical theory of breaking erttrainment depth and surface whitecap coverage of real sea waves in this study. The ratio of the kinetic and potential energy was estimated on a theoretical level, and optimal constants were determined to improve the statistical theory model for wave breaking. We also performed a sensitivity test to the model constants. A comparison between the model and in situ observations indicated that the level of agreement was better than has been achieved in previous studies.

Large size titanium alloy parts are widely used in ***,they are difficult to manufacture using mechanical cutting technology because of severe tool *** jet machining is a promising technology to achieve high efficiency,because it has high machining flexibility and no machining tool ***,reports on the macro electrochemical jet machining of large size titanium alloy parts are very scarce,because it is difficult to achieve effective constraint of the flow field in macro electrochemical jet *** addition,titanium alloy is very sensitive to fluctuation of the flow field,and a turbulent flow field would lead to serious stray *** paper reports a series of investigations of the electrochemical jet machining of titanium alloy *** on the flow analysis and experiments,the machining flow field was effectively ***6 titanium alloy part with a perimeter of one meter was *** machined surface was smooth with no obvious machining *** machining process was particularly stable with no obvious spark *** research provides a reference for the application of electrochemical jet machining technology to achieve large allowance material removal in the machining of large titanium alloy parts.

Fructose consumption has risen dramatically in recent decades due to the use of sucrose and high fructose corn syrup in beverages and processed foods,contributing to rising rates of *** purpose of this experiment was to explore the anti-hyperuricemia effects of an active oligopeptide(GPSGRP)derived from sea cucumber in fructose induced hyperuricemia mouse model,and to clarify the underlying mechanism in sight of gut microbiota and serum *** GPSGRP treatment rebalanced uric acid metabolism and alleviated inflammatory response in *** addition,treatment with GPSGRP decreased the abundance of Bacteroides and Proteobacteria at the phylum level,Muribaculum,Prevotella and Bacteroides at the genus level,and inhibited the related pathways of purine metabolism and glycolysis/gluconeogenesis ***,serum metabolites,including linoleic acid,indole and its derivatives,arachidonic acid and uridine,as well as related metabolic pathways,such as tricarboxylic acid cycle,ketone production and sugar production,were altered in response to GPSGRP *** study provides a valuable reference for the application and development of marine biological peptides in uric acid management.
