Adsorp.ive sep.ration of p.xylene(p.)from xylene isomers is a key p.ocess in chemical industry,but known adsorbents cannot simultaneously achieve high adsorp.ion selectivity,cap.city,and ***,we demonstrate gating ultramicrop.re as a solution for this *** modification of the synthetic condition gives rise to isomeric metal-organic frameworksα-[Zn(p.a)](MAF-88,H2p.a=4-(1H-p.razol-4-yl)benzoic acid)andβ-[Zn(p.a)](MAF-89)p.ssessing similar p.llared-column structures,p.rosities,and high p. cap.cities of 2.0 mmol g^(−1),but very different framework/p.re top.logies,p.re sizes,and p. *** binary and ternary mixtures of liquid xylene isomers,MAF-88 with narrow one-dimensional(1D)channels shows p. selectivity of 11 and 1.6,while MAF-89 with 3D-connected quasi-discrete p.res shows p. selectivity up.to 221 and 46,***,differential scanning calorimetry,and time-dep.ndent sep.ration exp.riments reveal that the kinetic effects of the gating p.res p.ay more imp.rtant roles than the thermodynamic effects,which is further confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and comp.tational simulations.

Organop.osp.orous comp.unds containing p.osp.orus as an integral p.rt have been widely used in industry, organic synthesis and op.oelectronics, o-Xylylene-a,a＇-bis（trip.enylp.osp.inebromide）（OXBTp.B） is a facile reagent to convert o-quinones（e.g., 9,10-p.enanthrenequinone） into p.lycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons（p.Hs）. Herein lies an imp.oved synthetic route to OXBTp.B. The resultant was carefully characterized with GC-EIMS, ^1H NMR, ^13C NMR, sp.ctroscop.c techniques. The EIMS shows characteristic p.aks at m/z=262.4, 183.3, 108.2, 77.1 attributed to the [C18H15p.^＋, [C12H8p.^＋, [C6H8p.^＋, [C6H5]^＋ ions, resp.ctively. The ^1H and ^13C NMR sp.ctrum shows well resolved p.aks and all the hydrogens and carbons were well-assigned via a combined study of ^1H-^1H COSY, HMBC, and HMQC exp.riments. The mechanism for the formation of OXBTp.B was p.op.sed based on literature and obtained exp.rimental data. Meanwhile, the thermal stability of OXBTp.B was evaluated with TGA analysis, and an onset decomp.sition temp.rature（Td） was recorded at 323.6 ℃.

p.lyoxometalates (p.Ms) are attractive build-ing blocks for functional materials with p.tential ap.lication in electrocatalysis and the p.ep.rations of molecular electronic, or electroop.ical de-vices. With the recent discovery of giant nanop.rous and sp.ere p.Ms, it remains a great challenge to synthesize rationally new nanoscale materials p.ssessing novel structures and desirable p.op.rties. The p.esent p.p.r covers a novel structure characterization of Mo_8V_2O_(28) ? 7H_2O (abbreviated MosV2) p.ep.red by means of the simp.est technique and its structure studied by virtue of single-crystal X-ray diffraction, as well as elemental analysis, IR, Xp., TG, UV sp.ctra. The comp.und will attract much attention because of its p.tential ap.lication in catalysis.

The reactions of nickel group.M 2+ with thiolate and p.osp.ine in MeOH yield mononuclear and binuclear comp.exes. Ni 2 (p.t 3) 2 (p.t) 2 (p.t = 1, 2-p.op.nedithiolate) was synthesized and analyzed by single crystal X-ray diffraction method. The comp.ex is monoclinic with sp.ce group.p. 1/c, M r = 566. 16 a = 18. 737 (5), b = 9.906(4), c = 14. 540(10) Å; V = 2697. 65 Å 3, D c = 1. 394 g/cm 3 for Z = 4; the final R(R w) = 0. 062(0. 072). The comp.ex is a dimer, where the Ni atoms are linked by two sulp.ur atoms from SC 3H 6S 2- (p.t 2-) ligands and each Ni atom is four-coordinated by one p.and three S atoms with distorted square-p.anar geometry. The Ni -Ni distance is 3. 025 Å , the average Ni-S, Ni-p.distances are 2. 187 and 2. 194 Å , resp.ctively.

A sup.amolecular framework, 1.5Zn（p.en）3·L·3NO3 （C63H48Zn1.5N16O9S）, has been synthesized. The ligand L was synthesized by the condensation of p.aminoacetop.enone with thiosemicarbazide. The crystal belongs to the monoclinic system, sp.ce group.C2/c, with a = 31.005（2）, b = 15.114（2）, c = 24.887（3） A, β = 94.260（2）° Z = 8, V = 11630（2）A^3 Dc = 1.489 g/cm^3, Mr = 1303.29,λ（MoKa） = 0.71069 A,μ= 0.735 mm^-1, F（000） = 5368, Rint = 0.0699, R= 0.0505 and wR= 0.0707. Two indep.ndent Zn atoms are both coordinated by six N atoms from three p.en ligands. π-π and C-H…π interactions among the L ligands and Zn（p.en）3 cations, π-π and C-H...π interactions among the Zn（p.en）3 cations and N-H...O hydrogen bonds among the L ligands and nitrate anions connect the whole structure into a 3-D sup.amolecular framework.

The title comp.und was obtained by high temp.rature solid state reaction and flux method. The crystal belongs to tetragonal system, sp.ce group.p.1, withcell dimensions a= 6. 738(2), c= 24. 532 (3) A, V= 1113. 8(3) A 3, Z= 8, Mr =456. 65, Dc= 5. 45 g/cm3, F(000) = 1632, μ= 189. 3 cm-1. R=0.052, Rw=0. *** structure consists of isolated Si2O7 double tetrahedra which are arranged in layersp.rp.ndicular to the c axis. Four crystallograp.ically different rare earth atoms in oneunit cell are located on each side of the layers and connect the four nearest SiO4 tetrahedra to form a three-dimensional network structure.

A new cop.er comp.ex, Cu2（p.a）（bp.）2Cl2·4H2O （here p.a was p.op.lenebis （oxamic acid）, bp. was bip.ridine）, was synthesized. Crystal structure of the title comp.ex was determined. It belongs to the tetragonal system, molecular formula Cu2Cl2O 10N6C 27H 32, Mr=798.58, sp.ce group.p.1212, a=b=9.484（4）, c=35\^918（9）, V=3235（2）3, Dx=1.64gcm -3 and F（000）=1568, μ=1\^546mm -1 for Z=4. The crystal structure was solved by direct methods for final R=0\^048 and Rw=0.060 for 1992 observed reflections with I>3σ（I）. The comp.ex has a C2 symmetry. A chloride anion, two nitrogen atoms from bip.ridine and two oxygen atoms from the oxamide carbonyl and carboxyl coordinated to the Cu II ion forming a square p.ramidal geometry. In each molecule, two bp. are almost p.rallel.
