Elevational distribution of forests and its spatiotemporal dynamics in subtropical China from 2000 to 2019

The subtropical region of China possesses abundant forest resources and features a mountainous *** the implementation of policies such as natural forest protection,the Grain for Green Project,and other initiatives since the beginning of the 21st century,coupled with climate change,the forest resources in this region have undergone significant changes compared to historical *** addition,forest resources distributing mainly in mountainous areas also implies that these changes may vary significantly with *** explore the spatiotemporal dynamics of forest distribution in subtropical China since 2000,especially the trend of changes with elevation,we analyzed the data from two land cover products focusing on forest cover and forest *** used a hierarchical approach,in which coarse-classification forest cover data with relatively small uncertainties impose constraints on forest type data with larger uncertainties,to achieve a reasonable balance between obtaining more details and reducing data *** first divided the forest cover data into‘unchanged'and‘changed'*** the constraints by the forest cover results,we further analyzed the‘unchanged'and‘changed'forest *** results indicated that,since the implementation of ecological engineering and management policies,54%of the area in the subtropical region had maintained unchanged forest cover attributes over the past 20 years,which implied the good state of ecological *** results also showed that dynamic conversions existed in the long term between forests and lands for essential production needs like *** elevational variations of forest cover suggested that the dominant changes came from the conversion between forests and croplands in low-elevation regions below 700 m,the conversion between forests and shrublands in mid-elevation regions of 700–1500 m,and the conversion between forests and grasslands in high-elevation regions above 2000 *** the regio

A comprehensive assessment of climate change vulnerability is imperative for formulating effective adaptation strategies and advancing sustainable development *** one of the most climate-vulnerable regions globally,the Pan-Third Pole area lacks transnational vulnerability assessments,which poses a significant obstacle to efficient climate *** study conducted transnational comparisons based on primary micro-survey data collected uniformly across Nepal,Cambodia,Thailand,and Myanmar,which are all located in the Pan-Third Pole *** and comparing the vulnerabilities employed an extended framework of climate change *** findings reveal substantial variations in vulnerability among the countries,with Cambodia exhibiting the highest vulnerability,followed by Thailand,Myanmar,and Nepal in descending order,primarily due to differences in *** exposure to climate change also varied *** scores decreased in the order of Nepal>Cambodia>Thailand>Myanmar,with demographic factors,tap water accessibility,and land being the major contributors and sources of differentiation among the *** adaptability,Thailand demonstrated the highest adaptability,with human and financial capital as the key *** outcomes underscore the need for tailored policy measures addressing the diverse vulnerabilities,including enhancing household disaster prevention and capital ***,targeted international investments are crucial for improving adaptability among smallholders in this unique region.

The Convention on Biological Diversity seeks to conserve at least 30%of global land and water areas by 2030,which is a challenge but also an opportunity to better preserve biodiversity,including flowering plants(angiosperms).Herein,we compiled a large database on distributions of over 300,000 angiosperm species and the key functional traits of 67,024 *** this database,we constructed biodiversity-environment models to predict global patterns of taxonomic,phylogenetic,and functional diversity in terrestrial angiosperms and provide a comprehensive mapping of the three diversity *** further evaluated the current protection status of the biodiversity centers of these diversity *** results showed that geographical patterns of the three facets of plant diversity exhibited substantial spatial mismatches and nonoverlapping conservation *** centers of functional diversity,particularly of herbaceous species,were primarily distributed in temperate regions and under weaker protection compared with other biodiversity centers of taxonomic and phylogenetic *** global assessment of multifaceted biodiversity patterns and centers highlights the insufficiency and unbalanced conservation among the three diversity facets and the two growth forms(woody ***),thus providing directions for guiding the future conservation of global plant diversity.

目的:生态移民在改善迁出区生态环境的同时,也改变了迁入区资源环境配置格局。客观评价大量生态移民涌入给迁入区造成的生态系统压力,对生态移民政策的可持续推进及新形式下解决脱贫和生态环境保护问题有重要意义。创新点:从微观农户尺度,采用生产性生态足迹评价移民迁入区生态移民工程的生态环境影响。方法:1.基于参与式农户调查方法,获取移民迁入区移民和当地驻民的生态足迹账户、土地利用及农户家庭等基本信息;2.采用生产性生态足迹评价移民迁入区生态移民工程的生态环境影响;3.构建"STIRPAT"模型,分析移民迁入区生态环境变化的影响因素。结论:1.大规模移民的迁入对移民安置区的生态环境造成持续压力;2.人口规模扩大、荒草地开垦以及消费需求增长是造成移民迁入区生态环境压力的主要原因;3.合理测算移民迁入区人口承载力、促进农户生计转型和增加农户生计多样化可以有效缓解生态移民对生态环境的巨大压力。

Variations and controlling factors of vegetation dynamics on the Qingzang Plateau of China over the recent 20 years

The impacts of climate change and human activities on vegetation dynamics have attracted wide attention,espe-cially in sensitive and vulnerable areas such as the Qingzang Plateau of *** this region,a series of ecological restoration projects have been launched while the effectiveness of these projects requires evaluation and further *** sensing with high temporal resolution and spatial coverage is an effective way for the vegetation dynamics research in this *** this study,the spatial and temporal distribution of climate factors and vegetation coverage as well as the influencing factors such as air temperature,precipitation,land use,slope,slope direction,soil and altitude were *** geographical detector was used to analyze the influence of climate factors on vegetation coverage and the interaction among factors in different eco-geographical *** results showed that:1)the average values from the 20 years of normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)decreased gradually from southeast(>0.61)to northwest(0.12).The overall average of NDVI increased 0.02 per year from 1998 to 2018 and the impact factors varied among different eco-geographical regions;2)some con-trolling factors showed nonlinear enhancement such as altitude and slope;3)land use was an important factor affecting the distribution of vegetation especially in humid,semi-arid and arid areas,but the impacts of elevation and temperature were stronger than land use types in semi-humid and humid *** design and construc-tion of ecological protection and restoration projects on the Qingzang Plateau required scientific and detailed demonstration as well as monitoring and *** addition,new tools and theories were also needed in the selection of ecosystem restoration *** on the findings,this study also provides suggestions for the sustainable ecological restoration on the Qingzang Plateau.

The influence of rainfall and land use patterns on soil erosion in multi-scale watersheds: A case study in the hilly and gully area on the Loess Plateau, China

Soil erosion has become a major global environmental problem and is particularly acute on the Loess Plateau(LP), China. It is therefore highly important to control this process in order to improve ecosystems, protect ecological security, and maintain the harmonious relationship between humans and nature. We compared the effects of rainfall and land use(LU) patterns on soil erosion in different LP watersheds in this study in order to augment and improve soil erosion models. As most research on this theme has so far been focused on individual study areas, limited analyses of rainfall and LU patterns on soil erosion within different-scale watersheds has so far been performed, a discrepancy which might influence the simulation accuracies of soil erosion models. We therefore developed rainfall and LU pattern indices in this study using the soil erosion evaluation index as a reference and applied them to predict the extent of this process in different-scale watersheds, an approach which is likely to play a crucial role in enabling the comprehensive management of this phenomenon as well as the optimized design of LU patterns. The areas considered in this study included the Qingjian, Fenchuan, Yanhe, and Dali river watersheds. Results showed that the rainfall erosivity factor(R) tended to increase in these areas from 2006 to 2012, while the vegetation cover and management factor(C) tended to decrease. Results showed that as watershed area increased, the effect of rainfall pattern on soil erosion gradually decreased while patterns in LU trended in the opposite direction, as the relative proportion of woodland decreased and the different forms of steep slope vegetation cover became more homogenous. As watershed area increased, loose soil and craggy terrain properties led to additional gravitational erosion and enhanced the effects of both soil and topography.

Arrangement of High-standard Basic Farmland Construction Based on Village-region Cultivated land Quality Uniformity

As an important constitute of land consolidation, high-standard basic farmland construction is an important means to protect the quantity, quality and ecological environment of cultivated land. Its target not only lies in the increase of cultivated land quantity, but also the improvement of cultivated land quality, agricultural production conditions and ecosystem environments. In the present study, the quality evaluation method and construction arrangement of cultivated land were explored to facilitate the process of decision-making and implementation for high-standard basic farmland construction(HSBFC) with administrative village as the unit. Taking the land comprehensive improvement project area in Quzhou County, Handan City, Hebei Province as a case study, the whole process of the study comprised of three steps: 1) establishment of the evaluation model of cultivated land quality uniformity based on regional optimum cultivated land quality, and construction of the uniformity evaluation index system from the aspects of soil fertility quality, engineering quality, spatial quality and eco-environment quality, according to the new concept of cultivated land quality; 2) calculation of cultivated land quality uniformity by grading indicators, assigning scores and weighting sums, exploring the local homogenization characteristics of regional cultivated land quality through spatial autocorrelation analysis, and analyzing the constraints and transformative potential of barrier factors; 3) arrangement of HSBFC according to the principle of concentration, continuity and priority to the easy operation. The results revealed that the value of farmland quality uniformity for the administrative villages in the study area was between 7.76 and 21.96, and there was a difference between various administrative villages. The regional spatial autocorrelation patterns included High-High(HH), Low-Low(LL), High-Low(HL) and Low-High(LH). These indicate that regional cultivated land quality

Primary energy-related carbon dioxide emissions in China

Climate change is one of the focuses to mitigate greenhouse effect and reduce carbon dioxide ***,the paper summarizes on the carbon dioxide emission factors and methods suitable to the situation in ***,it analyzes the primary energy-related carbon dioxide emissions during the period between 1995 and 2005 from different fossil fuels and different *** trend of primary energy-related carbon dioxide emissions from 1995 to 2005 is"first decreasing and later increasing."Seven regions-Liaoning,Shanxi,Hebei,Shandong,Henan,and Jiangsu-and most of the provinces(cities or regions)were found to have similar trends regarding total carbon dioxide emissions in *** annual carbon dioxide emissions and the growth ratio of these seven regions are much higher compared to those of the other 24 provinces(cities or regions).Finally,this paper puts forward some suggestions to reduce carbon dioxide.

Evaluation of the Reclamation Suitability of Industrial and Mining Wasteland

To evaluate the reclamation suitability of industrial and mining wasteland is the premise of reclamation. The wasteland was firstly categorized according to land use status and damage types. Then the evaluation process of reclamation suitability was introduced, which involves two steps, the first step was to exclude those unsuitable wasteland by the limits conditions, while the second step was to evaluate the suitability degree of those suitable wasteland. From the perspectives of soil fertility, soil pollution, farmland water conservancy and land damage, twelve evaluation factors, including soil depth, gravel content, bulk density, organic material content, pollution index, gradient, flatness, irrigation and drainage condition, source of borrowed earth, distance from the residential settlement, erosion modulus and damage extent, were selected to establish an index system for evaluating the abandoned industrial and mining land, aiming to provide references for the future reclamation of industrial and mining wasteland.

Progress in Researches on Evaluation of Quality of Cultivated land Consolidated from Coal Mining Subsided land

The evaluation of consolidated cultivated land quality can provide basic information for how to perfect the program of land consolidation,as well as a reference for the dynamic monitoring of farmland quality in mining area. Based on the consultation and analysis of related literature,we can conclude that: firstly,most scholars focus on soil consolidation,while consider little about land use and economic condition. Secondly,foreign scholars usually use crop yields to judge the success of land consolidation,while domestic scholars have been evaluated the quality of consolidated cultivated land synthetically from several aspects,such as soil fertility,soil environmental quality,and farmland infrastructure conditions. Specifically,most of the evaluations are static,and indicators are different. Besides,the quality of consolidated cultivated land is generally low,and it lacks systematic research on technologies for improving quality of cultivated land consolidated from coal mining subsided land. It is concluded that future researches should focus on establishing scientific and feasible evaluation system to realize comparison of quality change in the dynamic course of " undisturbed-subsided-consolidated" cultivated land in coal mining areas,as well as technologies for improving quality of cultivated land consolidated from coal mining subsided land.
