Implementing the First-Aid Education into the College Curriculum in China: The Efficacy Study of the First-Aid Workshop at Wenzhou-kean university

In the event of an emergency, the timely and appropriate first-aid operations provided by non-medical personnel at the scene of accident before the arrival of medical professionals are crucial to help minimize the frequency in accidental induced deaths and injuries. Thus, it is essential to provide the effective first-aid training to the public. College students are considered to be the ideal candidates due to their excellent learning ability, maturity as well as the strong adaptability. Not as in most advanced countries, little education on the first aid is currently offered in Chinese universities especially those non-medical institutes. To determine the feasibility of introducing the first-aid education into the school curriculum, here we reported the study on the efficacy of the one-day first-aid training at Wenzhou-kean university (WKU), an American-Chinese joint education institute. The general survey was initially conducted among all the freshman (n = 620) students at WKU to identify their interests as well as demand for the first-aid education. Along with the one-day first aid workshop which included both the lecture and the operation sessions, the pre-post study was performed to evaluate the efficacy of the workshop. The first-aid knowledge and skills as well as social awareness were judged before and after the training among the participants (Pre: n = 95;Post: n = 85). Results demonstrated that more than 95% of students appreciate the importance of first-aid training in universities indicating an extremely high demand. More than 40% students prefer to have the first-aid education as part of their curriculum. It also revealed that students lack professional knowledge towards the key first-aid skills such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The pre-post efficacy study suggested that participants’ knowledge as well as skills have been significantly improved after the workshop. The lottery has long captivated the imagination of players worldwide, offering the tantalizing possibility of life-changing wins. While winning the lottery is largely a matter of chance, as lottery drawings are typically random and unpredictable. Some people use the lottery terminal randomly generates numbers for them, some players choose numbers that hold personal significance to them, such as birthdays, anniversaries, or other important dates, some enthusiasts have turned to statistical analysis as a means to analyze past winning numbers identify patterns or frequencies. In this paper, we use order statistics to estimate the probability of specific order of numbers or number combinations being drawn in future drawings.

Effects of Perceived Teacher Support on Student Behavioral Engagement in the Blended Learning Environment:Learning Experience as a Mediator

Blended learning(BL)has been widely adopted to improve students’academic achievements in higher ***,its success relies mainly on student engagement,which plays an essential role in active learning and provides a rich understanding of students’*** study utilized three self-designed scales-the Teacher Support Scale,Student Engagement Scale,and Student Learning Experience Scale-to gauge and examine the impact and relationship between perceived teacher support,student behavioral engagement,and the intermediary role of learning experiences.A cohort of 899 college students undertaking the obligatory College English course through BL modes across five Chinese universities actively participated by completing a comprehensive *** results showed significant correlations between perceived teacher support,learning experience,and behavioral *** teacher support significantly predicted students’behavioral engagement,with socio-affective support exerting the most substantial predictive *** predictive effects were partially mediated by learning experience(learning mode,online resources,overall LMS-based learning,interaction with their instructor and peers,and learning outcome).The influence of perceived teacher support on behavioral engagement differed between students who reported the most positive(***)learning *** for further research are offered for consideration.

Vehicular Social Networks(VSNs)is the bridge of social networks and Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks(VANETs).VSNs are promising as they allow the exchange of various types of contents in large-scale through Vehicle-to-Vehicle(V2V)and Vehicle-to-Infrastructure(V2I)communication *** Named Data Networking(VNDN)is an auspicious communication paradigm for the challenging VSN environment since it can optimize content dissemination by decoupling contents from their physical ***,content dissemination and caching represent crucial challenges in VSNs due to short link lifetime and intermittent connectivity caused by vehicles’high *** aim with this paper is to improve content delivery and cache hit ratio,as well as decrease the transmission delay between *** this regard,we propose a novel hybrid VNDN-VSN forwarding technique based on social communities,which allows requester vehicles to easily find the most suitable forwarder or producer among the community members in their neighborhood ***,we introduce an effective caching mechanism by dividing the content store into two parts,one for community private contents and the second one for public *** results show that our proposed forwarding technique can achieve a favorable performance compared with traditional VNDN,in terms of data delivery ratio,average data delivery delay,and cache hit ratio.

Who should be checked for hepatitis C virus infection in endemic areas?

Objective: To find additional factors suggestive of hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection in the general population by using data from a hepatitis virus survey. Methods: This study collected data of HCV infection from a hepatitis virus survey. The survey was conducted in 13 provinces in the northeast Thailand in 2014 and 2015. During the survey, a blood test was performed to screen for HCV. A questionnaire was also distributed to all participants asking about baseline characteristics, risk factors for HCV infection, and daily life activities. Risk factors for HCV infection were executed. Results: There were 2 112 participants for the survey. Of those, 110 participants(5.21%) tested positive for HCV infection. After adjustment by multivariate logistic regression, three factors were significantly associated with HCV infection, namely male gender, age, and family history of liver cancer. The adjusted ORs and 95% CI of these factors were 3.14(1.50, 6.56), 3.78(1.12, 12.76), and 2.28(1.08, 4.80), respectively. Conclusions: Male gender, increasing age, and family history of liver cancer are predictors of HCV infection in endemic areas. Males with a family history of liver cancer in their firstdegree relatives should be tested for HCV infection regardless of symptoms.
