Objective To explore the causes, prevention, and management of the complications during intra-cranial aneurysm embolization with controllable coils (mechanical detachable spiral, MDS; and Guglielmi detachable coil, GDC). Methods Retrospective review of 120 cases with 125 intracranial aneurysms embolized with con-trollable coils from March 1995 to July 1999 was conducted. The 20 accidents(in 18 cases) including aneurysm rupture, over-embolization, protrusion of coil end into the parent artery, and thrombosis of the parent artery were analyzed. Results Among the 20 accidents, there were 6 aneurysm ruptures, 6 over-embolizations (in 5 cases), 6 coil protrusions, and 2 thromboses (one was secondary to coil protrusion). The embolization-related mortality was 3.33% (4/120), the permanent neurological deficit was 1.67% (2/120), and the transitory neurological deficit was 3.33%(4/120). The occurrence and outcome of the complications were related to the embolizing technique, the pattern of aneurysm and its parent artery, the imperfection of embolic materials, and the observation and management during embolization. Conclusion Skilled embolizing technique, better understanding of the angio-anatomy of an aneurysm and its parent artery, correct judgement and management during embolization, and improvement of embolic materials are beneficial to the reduction of complications and to the melioration of the outcome of complications.

Recently much attention has been paid to the application of metal hybrid nanoparticles in industrial catalytic fields because of their super-efficient catalytic activity and attractive properties. We explored a novel strategy to prepare GSH-capped Pt–Au–Ag-hybrid nanoclusters through the synergistic effect between ascorbic acid(VC) and glutathione(GSH) with chloroplatinic acid, chloroauric acid, and silver nitrate as precursors. The potential utilization of as-prepared GSH-capped Pt–Au–Aghybrid nanoclusters for catalytic applications has been evaluated through the reduction of 4-nitrophenol(4-NP) with NaBH4; we obtained the kinetic data by monitoring with UV-Vis spectroscopy. Our results illustrate that GSH-capped Pt–Au– Ag-hybrid nanoclusters could facilitate the process of reduction of 4-NP in a way that is unprecedented. This approach may offer a novel, non-cytotoxicity, efficient catalyst for industry.

Characteristics of Cationic Red X-GRL Adsorption by Diatomite Tailings

As secondary mineral resources, diatomite tailings（DT） got from the Linjiang region of China were prepared and characterized by SEM, XRF and XRD. Mono-factor experiments were carried out to investigate the effects of the operation factor, including contact time, adsorbent concentration, initial p H value of the dye solutions, adsorption temperature and initial concentration of cationic Red X-GRL（X-GRL） on the adsorption of X-GRL. The adsorption kinetics, isotherms, thermodynamics and mechanisms for X-GRL were also studied. It was efficient for DT to adsorb X-GRL from aqueous solutions, and it was even discovered to have higher adsorptivity for X-GRL than diatomite concentrate（DC） in our previous test. The adsorption processes fit very well with the pseudo-second-order model and the Langmuir isotherm equation. In addition, various thermodynamic parameters, such as standard Gibbs free energy（ΔG°）, standard enthalpy（ΔH°） and standard entropy（ΔS°） have been calculated. From thermodynamic studies, it was seen that the adsorption was spontaneous and endothermic. The main driving forces of the physical adsorption on DT are electrostatic attraction. The reason why DT showed higher adsorptivity for X-GRL than DC was that there were more clay mineral particles within, which has a remarkable ability of dye adsorption due to its high surface area. DT as a cheap absorbent for X-GRL removal would replace or partially replace the activated carbon.

The family of pairwise independently determined （PID） systems, i.e., those for which the independent joining is the only self joining with independent 2-marginals, is a class of systems for which the long standing open question by Rokhlin, of whether mixing implies mixing of all orders, has a positive answer. We show that in the class of weakly mixing PID one finds a positive answer for another long-standing open problem, whether the multiple ergodic averagesalmost surely converge.

To investigate the tensile deformation behavior of high strength anti-seismic steel with multi-phase microstructure,tensile tests with strains of 0.05,0.12 and 0.22 were performed at room *** of tested steels was observed by means of optical microscopy（OM）,transmission electron microscopy（TEM）and scanning electron microscopy（SEM）.Tensile mechanical properties of tested steels were obtained,and the influence of bainite content on deformation behavior was also ***,the deformation mechanism of steel with three kinds of microstructures of bainite,pearlite and ferrite was *** show that tested steel with high volume fraction of bainite exhibits a continuous deformation behavior,and this may be attributed to a higher bainite volume fraction and a lower mobile dislocation *** morphology of microstructure will influence the mechanical properties of tested *** increasing content of bainite can improve the tensile strength,but reduce the plasticity and toughness of the tested *** the deformation process of 0.039 Nb steel,the ferrite and bainite have priorities to deform,and the deformation exhibits co-deformation of all microstructures in the later stage of *** the deformation process of 0.024Nb-0.032 Vsteel,the ferrite and pearlite have priorities to deform,and the deformation exhibits co-deformation of all microstructures in the later stage of deformation.
