Condensed phosphates are used as food additives,especially in marine products and meat,to improve food *** import and consumption of fishery and processed marine food products in Republic of korea have reportedly increased by~5 per cent ***,processed marine food products are often intentionally adulterated with excessive amounts of condensed phosphates to increase their *** intake of condensed phosphates via consuming processed marine food products can lead to various adverse effects on human health due to anionic ***,we conducted a safety assessment of condensed phosphates in 14 types of fishery and processed marine food products in korea for the first *** analysis of various factors including gender,age,and region was also performed,and the risk level of exposure for each group was *** assessments by age and gender indicated that infants were at the highest *** the regional safety assessment,Chungnam,the most inland region,showed the lowest *** both the general and the high-intake groups(95th percentile)in all classifications,the risk was lower(korea was confirmed to be safe for human consumption.

In korea, trilobites are among the most intensively studied fossil groups in the past century and provide invaluable information about lower Paleozoic stratigraphy, paleogeography, and tectonics of the korean Peninsula. Trilobites occur in the lower Paleozoic Joseon Supergroup of the Taebaeksan Basin which was part of the Sino-korean Craton in the Paleozoic. The Joseon Supergroup is divided into the Taebaek, Yeongwol, and Mungyeong groups. The Taebaek and Yeongwol groups are richly fossiliferous, while the Mungyeong Group is poorly fossiliferous. Contrasting trilobite faunal contents of the Taebaek and Yeongwol groups resulted in two separate biostratigraphic schemes for the Cambrian–Ordovician of the Taebaeksan Basin. A total of 22 biozones or fossiliferous horizons were recognized in the Taebaek Group; 19 zones were established in the Yeongwol Group; and four biozones were known from the Mungyeong Group. These trilobite biozones of the Taebaeksan Basin indicate the Joseon Supergroup ranges in age from the Cambrian Series 2 to Middle Ordovician and can be correlated well with the formations of North China, South China, and Australia.

The exposure patterns of pest control and disinfection workers have changed after the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)outbreak,but the health risks of chemical exposure have not been *** identified these workers’chemical exposure patterns and risks before and after the COVID-19 *** used data conducted between 2018(pre-pandemic)and 2021(post-pandemic)from three-year cross-sectional surveys on pest control and disinfection *** and dermal exposure concentrations were estimated using equations based on a biocidal product risk assessment model from the korean National Institute of Environmental *** non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic risks of chemicals were calculated using the United States Environmental Protection Agency risk assessment *** found that the annual work frequency(50^(th)percentile)of foggers using disinfectants increased the most among all the work types,from 140 uses/year to 176 uses/year after the COVID-19 ***,all chemicals’non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic risks increased regardless of exposure *** the worst scenario(95^(th)percentile),the margin of exposure for citric acid,benzethonium chloride,benzyl-C12-16-alkyldimethyl chlorides,and sodium chlorite of inhalation exposure,and isopropyl alcohol and benzyl-C12-16-alkyldimethyl chlorides of dermal exposure were acceptable(>100)before the COVID-19outbreak but became unacceptable(10^(-6))before and after the COVID-19 outbreak but comparatively high after the COVID-19 ***,significantly more workers experienced health symptoms after the COVID-19outbreak(p<0.05),with the most common being muscle lethargy(31%),skin/face stinging(28.7%),and breath shortness/neck pain(24.1%).

Northeast Asian continental margins contain the products of magma emplacement driven by prolonged subduction of the(paleo-)Pacific *** observed in many Cordilleran arcs,magmatic evolution in this area was punctuated by high-volume pulses amid background *** present study investigates the early evolution of the Cretaceous magmatic flare-up using new and published geochronological,geochemical,and O-Hf isotope data from plutonic rocks in the southern korean *** a long(~50 m.y.)magmatic hiatus and the development of the Honam Shear Zone through flat-slab subduction,the Cretaceous flare-up began with the intrusion of monzonites,granodiorites,and granites in the inboard Gyeonggi Massif and the intervening Okcheon *** to Jurassic granitoids formed during the former flare-up,Albian(~111 Ma)monzonites found in the Eopyeong area of the Okcheon Belt have distinctly higher zirconε_(Hf)(t)(-7.5±1.3)andδ^(18)O(7.78‰±0.25‰)values and lower wholerock La/Yb and Sr/Y *** voluminous coeval granodiorite and granite plutons in the Gyeonggi Massif are further reduced in Sr/Y and to a lesser extent,in La/Yb,and have higher zirconε_(Hf)(t)values(-13 to-19)than the Precambrian basement(ca.-30).These chemical and isotopic features indicate that Early Cretaceous lithospheric thinning,most likely resulting from delamination of tectonically and magmatically overthickened lithospheric keel that was metasomatized during prior subduction episodes,and consequent asthenospheric upwelling played vital roles in igniting the magmatic *** O-Hf isotopic ranges of synmagmatic zircons from the Albian plutons and their Paleoproterozoic and Jurassic inheritance attest to the involvement of lithospheric mantle and crustal basement in magma generation during this decratonization *** magmatism then migrated trenchward and culminated in the Late Cretaceous,yielding widespread granitoid rocks emplaced at shallow crustal *** early Late Cretaceous(94-8

In korea, damaging typhoons related to climate change have increased steadily since the 1990s. Red pine （Pinus densiflora） forests in Gwangneung Forest were greatly disturbed by typhoon Kompasu in 2010. A survey was carried out to clarify differences in ground beetle （Coleoptera： Carabidae） communities between forest gaps and undamaged forests. Ground beetles were sampled using pitfall traps from early May to late October 2011. Vegetation changes, litter layer, organic matter layer, and soil conditions were also measured. A total of 1035 ground beetles of 32 species were collected. Contrary to our expectation, species richness, abundance, and community structure of the ground beetles in forest gaps were similar to those in undamaged forests. Species richness and abundance of habitat type were also similar. However, species diversity and estimated species richness in forest gaps were significantly higher than in undamaged forests. These findings suggest that forest gaps formed by a typhoon did not lead to great change in ground beetle communities.

This study is aimed at the development of a statistical model for forecasting heavy rain in South korea. For the 3-hour weather forecast system, the 10 km×10 km area-mean amount of rainfall at 6 stations （Seoul, Daejeon, Gangreung, （Jwangju, Busan, and Jeju） in South korea are used. And the corresponding 45 synoptic factors generated by the numerical model are used as potential predictors. Four statistical forecast models （linear regression model, logistic regression model, neural network model and decision tree model） for the occurrence of heavy rain are based on the model output statistics （MOS） method. They are separately estimated by the same training data. The thresholds are considered to forecast the occurrence of heavy rain because the distribution of estimated values that are generated by each model is too skewed. The results of four models are compared via Heidke skill scores. As a result, the logistic regression model is recommended.

Understanding the greenhouse gas(GHG)emission from rice paddy fields is essential to come up with appropriate countermeasure in response to global ***,GHG emissions from paddy fields in South korea are not well *** objectives of this study were to estimate the carbon dioxide(CO_(2))and methane(CH_(4))emissions from rice paddy fields in South korea,under the Representative Concentration Pathway 8.5(RCP-8.5)climate change scenario using the DNDC(i.e.,DeNitrification-DeComposition)model at 1-km^(2)*** performance of the model was verified with field data collected using a closed chamber,which supports the application of the model to South *** the model predictions and field measurements showed that most(>95%)GHG emissions occur in the cropping period,between April and *** a baseline(assuming no climate change),the national sums of the CO_(2)and CH_(4)emissions for the 2020 s and 2090 s were estimated to be 5.8×10^(6)and 6.0×10^(6)t CO_(2)-equivalents(CO_(2)-eq)year^(-1)for CO_(2)and 6.4×10^(6)and 6.6×10^(6)t CO_(2)-eq year^(-1)for CH_(4),respectively,indicating no significant changes over 80 *** RCP-8.5,in the 2090 s,CH_(4)emissions were predicted to increase by 10.7×10^(6)and 14.9×10^(6)t CO_(2)-eq year^(-1),for a 10-or 30-cm tillage depth,***,the CO_(2)emissions gradually decreased with rising temperatures,due to reduced root *** tillage increased the emissions of both GHGs,with a more pronounced effect for CH_(4)than CO_(2).Intermittent drainage in the middle of the cropping season can attenuate the CH_(4)emissions from paddy *** findings of this work will aid in developing nationwide policies on agricultural land management in the face of climate change.

We examined patterns of plant species richness on an elevation gradient and evaluated the effects of cli- matic variables including mean annual temperature and precipitation, area, the mid-domain effect and productivity on species richness along two transects on Mt. Seorak, South korea. A total of 235 plant species of 72 families and 161 genera were recorded from 130 plots along the two transects. Two different patterns, monotonic decline and a unimodal shape, were observed for woody plants with the change in elevation along the two transects, whereas multimodal patterns were observed for all plant species considered together and for herbaceous plants. Area and productivity showed significant relationships with total plant richness. Climatic variables were better predictors than other variables for variation by elevation in woody plant richness, whereas productivity was a more important variable for herbaceous plant richness. Although area was an important variable for predicting species richness pat- terns, the effects differed by transect and plant group. No empirical evidence was linked to the mid-domain *** elevational patterns may characterize different groups in the same taxon and there might be fundamental differences in the mechanisms underlying these richness patterns.
