AIM:To assess the relationship between dietary inflammatory index(DII)and prevalence of glaucoma among individuals aged 40y and above in the United ***:Participants were drawn from 2 cycles of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(NHANES,2005-2008)for a cross-sectional *** was calculated from 24-hour dietary recall questionnaire conducted by experienced researchers and data analyzed in R according to the NHANES user guide,“Stratified Multi-stage Probability Sampling”.The relationship between DII and glaucoma was evaluated by multi-factor logistic regression analysis and the existence of a non-linear association examined by restricted cubic spline(RCS)***:A total of 5359 subjects were included and the cross-sectional analysis weighted to represent the US population of 109 *** was elevated in glaucoma patients(P<0.001)and smoking and alcohol use contributed to significant differences(P<0.001).DII correlated negatively with Healthy Eating Index(HEI)-2015(Spearman rank correlation coefficient,r=-0.49).RCS analysis showed a linear relationship between DII and glaucoma risk(P of non-linear relationship=0.575).CONCLUSION:An increased DII is strongly associated with high risk of glaucoma and diet-induced inflammation should be controlled to delay glaucoma progression.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the mechanism of Tangfukang formula(糖复康方, TFK) in treating type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM). METHODS: We employed network pharmacology combined with experimental validation to explore the potential mechanism of TFK against T2DM. Initially, we filtered bioactive compounds with the traditional chinese medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform(TCMSP) and Symptom Mapping(Sym Map), and gathered targets of TFK and T2DM. Subsequently, we constructed a protein-protein interaction(PPI) network, enriched core targets through Gene Ontology(GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG), and adopted molecular docking to study the binding mode of compounds and the signaling pathway. Finally, we employed a KKAy mice model to investigate the effect and mechanism of TFK against T2DM. Biochemical assay, histology assay, and Western blot(WB) were used to assess the mechanism. RESULTS: There were 492 bioactive compounds of TFK screened, and 1226 overlapping targets of TFK against T2DM identified. A compound-T2DM-related target network with 997 nodes and 4439 edges was constructed. KEGG enrichment analysis identified some core pathways related to T2DM, including adenosine 5-monophosphate-activated protein kinase(AMPK) signaling pathway. Molecular docking study revealed that compounds of TFK, including citric acid, could bind to the active pocket of AMPK crystal structure with free binding energy of -4.8,-8 and -7.9, respectively. Animal experiments indicated that TFK decreased body weight, fasting blood glucose, fasting serum insulin, homeostasis model of insulin resistance, glycosylated serum protein, total cholesterol, triglyceride, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and improve oral glucose tolerance test results. TFK reduced steatosis in liver tissue, and infiltration of inflammatory cells, and protected liver cells to a certain extent. OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy and safety of the Qingyanyin formulated granules(轻燕饮配方颗粒, QYY), press needles(PN), and their combined application in addressing abdominal obesity(AO). This trial aims to offer a more scientifically grounded therapeutic regimen for clinical interventions. METHODS: From March 2021 to July 2021, a multicenter, triple-blind, randomized 2 × 2 factorial design clinical trial was conducted across 7 centers in 4 major cities within China's mainland. The trial participants were patients diagnosed with AO. The trial followed a 1 ∶ 1 ∶ 1 ∶ 1 random allocation ratio, assigning participants to one of four groups: QYY placebo plus simulated press needles(SPN)(placebo + SPN), QYY plus SPN(QYY + SPN), QYY placebo plus PN(placebo + PN), and QYY plus PN(QYY + PN). The trial participants received treatment for 12 weeks. Observe the changes in waist circumference, body weight, body mass index(BMI), Beck Depression Inventory(BDI), Beck Anxiety Inventory(BAI) scores, and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI) before and after treatment. RESULTS: The QYY + PN group exhibited significant improvements in waist circumference compared to placebo + PN [Difference =-1.59, 95% CI(-3.03,-0.16)] and placebo + SPN groups [Difference =-2.01, 95% CI(-3.46,-0.57)]. QYY + PN demonstrated a significant advantage over placebo + SPN [Difference =-2.01, 95% CI(-3.46,-0.57)], and no statistically significant interaction was observed between the two interventions(P > 0.05). In terms of weight and BMI improvements, the QYY + PN, QYY + SPN, and the PN + placebo groups all experienced trending greater reductions in weight compared to the placebo group. In terms of the total scores of PSQI, BAI, and BDI, all four groups exhibited improvements compared to the baseline. BACKGROUND A dual therapy regimen containing amoxicillin is a common treatment option for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori(***).While substantial research supports the efficacy and safety of vonoprazan and amoxicillin(VA)dual therapy in the general population,there is still a lack of studies specifically focusing on its safety in elderly *** To evaluate efficacy and safety of VA dual therapy as first-line or rescue treatment for *** in elderly *** As a real-world retrospective study,data were collected from elderly patients aged 60 years and above who accepted VA dual therapy(vonoprazan 20 mg twice daily+amoxicillin 1000 mg thrice daily for 14 days)for *** eradication in the Department of Gastroenterology at Peking University First hospital between June 2020 and January *** status was evaluated by^(13)C-urease breath test 6 weeks after *** adverse events(AEs)during treatment were *** In total,401 cases were ***-one cases were excluded due to loss to follow-up,lack of re-examination,or unwillingness to take *** total of 380 included cases comprised 250 who received VA dual therapy as first-line treatment and 130 who received VA dual therapy as rescue *** was successfully eradicated in 239 cases(95.6%)in the first-line treatment group and 116 cases(89.2%)in the rescue treatment *** overall incidence of AEs was 9.5%for both ***,9.2%of patients experienced an AE in the first-line treatment group and 10.0%in the rescue treatment *** patients discontinued treatment due to AE,with a discontinuation rate of 1.3%.No serious AE *** The VA dual therapy regimen as a first-line treatment and a rescue therapy was effective and safe for elderly patients aged 60 and older.
