Surface reconstruction and structural transformation of twodimensional Ni-Fe MOFs for oxygen evolution in seawater media

As a four-electron transfer reaction,oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is limited by large overpotential and slow ***,we in-situ synthesized two-dimensional(2D)Ni-Fe metal-organic framework nanosheets on nickel foam(NixFe-TPA/NF,TPA=terephthalic acid)for oxygen evolution in alkaline and alkaline seawater *** 1 M KOH,Ni3Fe-TPA/NF shows a low overpotential(η10)of 189 mV at 10 mA·cm^(-2) and an ultra-low overpotential of only 260 mV at 500 mA·cm^(-2).In alkaline seawater,Ni3Fe-TPA/NF still provides impressive OER performance,with anη10 of 265 ***-situ Raman characterization results show that the phase transition occurs during the OER,and Ni3FeOOH with more oxygen vacancies is in-situ formed,reducing the OER energy *** functional theory(DFT)reveals that the synergy between Ni and Fe reduces the energy barrier and accelerates the rate-determining *** addition,the ultra-thin 2D sheet structure and the close combination of Ni3FeOOH and highly conductive NF support ensure the high catalytic OER ***,the surface reconstruction and structural modification strategy can be used to design and prepare high-performance OER electrocatalysts for energy-related applications.

Extracellular vesicles(EVs)are nano-size vesicles secreted naturally by all cells into the extracellular space and have been recognized as important cell-cell mediators in multicel-lular *** contain nucleic acids,proteins,lipids,and other cellular components,regulating many basic biological processes and playing an important role in regenerative med-icine and *** can be traced to their cells of origin and exhibit a similar ***,EVs demonstrate low immunogenicity,good biocompatibility,and fewer side ef-fects,compared to their parent *** stem cells(MsCs)are one of the most important resource cells for EVs,with a great capacity for self-renewal and multipotent differ-entiation,and play an essential role in stem cell *** mechanism of MsC therapy was thought to be attributed to the differentiation of MsCs after targeted migration,as previously ***,emerging evidence shows the previously unknown role of MsC-derived para-crine factors in stem cell *** EVs derived from oral tissue MSCs(OMSC-EVs),show more advantages than those of all other MsCs in tissue repair and regeneration,due to their lower invasiveness and easier accessibility for sample ***,we systematically review the biogenesis and biological characteristics of OMSC-EVs,as well as the role of OMsC-EVs in intercellular ***,we discuss the potential therapeutic roles of OMSC-EVs in oral and systemic *** highlight the current challenges and future directions of OMSC-EVs to focus more attention on clinical *** aim to provide valuable insights for the explorative clinical application of OMSC-EVs.

BACKGROUND This report delves into the diagnostic and therapeutic journey undertaken by a patient with high-dose cantharidin poisoning and multiorgan dysfunction syndrome(MODS).Particular emphasis is placed on the comprehensive elucidation of the clinical manifestations of high-dose cantharidin poisoning,the intricate path to diagnosis,and the exploration of potential underlying *** SUMMARY A patient taking 10 g of cantharidin powder orally subsequently developed *** patient was treated with supportive care,fluid hydration and antibiotics,and hemoperfusion and hemofiltration therapy for 24 h and successfully recovered 8 d after hospital *** poisoning can cause lifethreatening MODS and is rare *** case underscores the challenge in diagnosis and highlights the need for early clinical differentiation to facilitate accurate assessment and prompt *** This article has reported and analyzed the clinical data,diagnosis,treatment,and prognosis of a case of high-dose cantharidin poisoning resulting in MODS and reviewed the relevant literature to improve the clinical understanding of this rare condition.

Isotopic dependence of the yield ratios of light fragments from different projectiles and their unified neutron skin thicknesses

The yield ratios of neutron-proton(R(n/p))and^(3)H-^(3)He(R(^(3)H∕^(3)He))with reduced rapidity from 0 to 0.5 were simulated at 50 MeV/u even-even ^(36−56)Ca+^(40)Ca,even-even ^(48−78)Ni+^(58)Ni,and ^(100−139)Sn(every third isotopes)+112 Sn for full reduced impact parameters using the isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics(IQMD)*** neutron and proton density distributions and root-mean-square radii of the reaction systems were obtained using the Skyrme-Hartree-Fock model,which was used for the phase space initialization of the projectile and target in *** defined the unified neutron skin thickness asΔRnp=^(1∕2) n−^(1∕2)p,which was negative for neutron-deficient *** unifiedΔRnp values for nuclei with the same relative neutron excess from different isotopic chains were nearly equal,except for extreme neutron-rich isotopes,which is a type of scaling *** yield ratios of the three isotopic chain-induced reactions,which depended on the reduced impact parameter and unified neutron skin thickness,were *** results showed that both R(n/p)and R(^(3)H∕^(3)He)decreased with a reduced impact parameter for extreme neutron-deficient isotopes;however,they increased with reduced impact parameters for extreme neutron-rich isotopes,and increased with theΔRnp of the projectiles for all reduced impact *** addition,a scaling phenomenon was observed betweenΔR np and the yield ratios in peripheral colli-sions from different isotopic chain projectiles(except for extreme neutron-rich isotopes).Thus,R(n/p)and R(^(3)H∕^(3)He)from peripheral collisions were suggested as experimental probes for extracting the neutron or proton skin thicknesses of non-extreme neutron-rich nuclei from different isotopic chains.

LiBr as a promising redox mediator(RM)has been applied in Li-O_(2)batteries to improve oxygen evolution reaction kinetics and reduce ***,the redox shuttle of Br_(3)^-can induce the unexpected reactions and thus cause the degradation of LiBr and the corrosion of Li anode,resulting in the poor cyclability and the low round-trip ***,MgBr_(2)is firstly employed with dual functions for Li-O_(2)batteries,which can serve as a RM and a SEI film-forming *** Br^(–)is beneficial to facilitating the decomposition of Li_(2)O_(2)and thus decreasing the ***,a uniform SEI film containing Mg and MgO generates on Li anode surface by the in-situ spontaneous reactions of Mg^(2+)and Li anode in an O_(2)environment,which can suppress the redox shuttle of Br_(3)^-and improve the interface stability of Li anode and *** from these advantages,the cycle life of Li-O_(2)battery with MgBr_(2)electrolyte is significantly extended.

Elaidic acid leads to mitochondrial dysfunction via mitochondria-associated membranes triggers disruption of mitochondrial calcium fluxes

Elaidic acid(EA)stimulation can lead to endoplasmic reticulum stress(ERS),accompanied by a large release of Ca^(2+),and ultimately the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome in Kupffer cells(KCs).Mitochondrial instability or dysfunction may be the key stimulating factors to activate NLRP3 inflammasome,and sustained Ca^(2+)transfer can result in mitochondrial *** focused on KCs to explore the damage to mitochondria by *** EA stimulation,cells produced an oxidative stress(OS)response with a significant increase in ROS *** experiments and the addition of inhibitors revealed that the increase in the level of intracellular Ca^(2+)led to Ca^(2+)accumulation in the mitochondrial matrix via mitochondria-associated membranes(MAMs).This was accompanied by a significant release of m ROS,loss of MMP and ATP,and a significant increase in mitochondrial permeability transition pore opening,ultimately leading to mitochondrial *** findings confirmed the mechanism that EA induced mitochondrial Ca^(2+)imbalance in KCs via MAM,ultimately leading to mitochondrial ***,EA induced OS and the decrease of MMP and ATP in rat liver,and significant lesions were found in liver *** of the inner mitochondrial cristae and mitochondrial vacuolization occurred,with a marked increase in lipid droplets.

In the processing of conventional marine seismic data,seawater is often assumed to have a constant velocity ***,due to static pressure,temperature difference and other factors,random disturbances may often frequently in seawater *** impact of such disturbances on data processing results is a topic of theoretical *** seawater sound velocity is a difficult physical quantity to measure,there is a need for a method that can generate models conforming to seawater *** article will combine the Munk model and Perlin noise to propose a two-dimensional dynamic seawater sound velocity model generation method,a method that can generate a dynamic,continuous,random seawater sound velocity model with some regularity at large ***,the paper discusses the influence of the inhomogeneity characteristics of seawater on wave field propagation and *** results show that the seawater sound velocity model with random disturbance will have a significant influence on the wave field simulation and imaging results.

Excitation and ionization of OCS molecules in strong UV and NIR laser fields

Rydberg state excitation(RSE) is a highly non-linear physical phenomenon that is induced by the ionization of atoms or molecules in strong femtosecond laser fields. Here we observe that both parent and fragments(S, C, OC) of the triatomic molecule carbonyl sulfide(OCS) can survive strong 800 nm or 400 nm laser fields in high Rydberg states. The dependence of parent and fragment RSE yields on laser intensity and ellipticity is investigated in both laser fields, and the results are compared with those for strong-field ionization. Distinctly different tendencies for laser intensity and ellipticity are observed for fragment RSE compared with the corresponding ions. The mechanisms of RSE and strong-field ionization of OCS molecules in different laser fields are discussed based on the experimental results. Our study sheds some light on the strong-field excitation and ionization of molecules irradiated by femtosecond NIR and UV laser fields.

Potential role and therapeutic implications of glutathione peroxidase 4 in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease

Alzheimer's disease is an age-related neurodegenerative disorder with a complex and incompletely understood pathogenesis. Despite extensive research, a cure for Alzheimer's disease has not yet been found. Oxidative stress mediates excessive oxidative responses, and its involvement in Alzheimer's disease pathogenesis as a primary or secondary pathological event is widely accepted. As a member of the selenium-containing antioxidant enzyme family, glutathione peroxidase 4 reduces esterified phospholipid hydroperoxides to maintain cellular redox homeostasis. With the discovery of ferroptosis, the central role of glutathione peroxidase 4 in anti-lipid peroxidation in several diseases, including Alzheimer's disease, has received widespread attention. Increasing evidence suggests that glutathione peroxidase 4 expression is inhibited in the Alzheimer's disease brain, resulting in oxidative stress, inflammation, ferroptosis, and apoptosis, which are closely associated with pathological damage in Alzheimer's disease. Several therapeutic approaches, such as small molecule drugs, natural plant products, and non-pharmacological treatments, ameliorate pathological damage and cognitive function in Alzheimer's disease by promoting glutathione peroxidase 4 expression and enhancing glutathione peroxidase 4 activity. Therefore, glutathione peroxidase 4 upregulation may be a promising strategy for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. This review provides an overview of the gene structure, biological functions, and regulatory mechanisms of glutathione peroxidase 4, a discussion on the important role of glutathione peroxidase 4 in pathological events closely related to Alzheimer's disease, and a summary of the advances in small-molecule drugs, natural plant products, and non-pharmacological therapies targeting glutathione peroxidase 4 for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
