Identifying the geographical origin and processing technology of Moyao(Myrrh) on the basis of near-infrared spectrosco.y co.bined with chemometrics

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the quality of Moyao(Myrrh) in the identification of the geographical origin and processing of the products. METHODS: Raw Moyao(Myrrh) and two kinds of Moyao(Myrrh) processed with vinegar from three co.ntries were identified using near-infrared(NIR) spectrosco.y co.bined with chemometric techniques. Principal co.ponent analysis(PCA) was used to reduce the dimensionality of the data and visualize the clustering of samples from different categories. A classical chemometric algorithm(PLS-DA) and two machine learning algorithms [K-nearest neighbor(KNN) and support vector machine] were used to co.duct a classification analysis of the near-infrared spectra of the Moyao(Myrrh) samples, and their discriminative performance was evaluated. RESULTS: Based on the accuracy, precision, recall rate, and F1 value in each model, the results showed that the classical chemometric algorithm and the machine learning algorithm obtained positive results. In all of the chemometric analyses, the NIR spectrum of Moyao(Myrrh) preprocessed by standard normal variation or Multivariate scattering co.rection co.bined with KNN achieved the highest accuracy in identifying the geographical origins, and the accuracy of identifying the processing technology established by the KNN method after first-order derivative pretreatment was the best. The best accuracy of geographical origin discrimination and processing technology discrimination were 0.9853 and 0.9706 respectively. co.CLUSIONS: NIR spectrosco.y co.bined with chemometric technology can be an important tool for tracking the origin and processing technology of Moyao(Myrrh) and can also provide a reference for evaluations of its quality and the clinical use.

Numerical investigation of sinusoidal pulsating gas intake to intensify the gas-slag momentum transfer in the top-blown smelting furnace

The variation characteristics of bubble morphology and the thermal-physical properties of bubble boundary in the top-blown smelting furnace were explored by means of the co.putational fluid dynamics method.The essential aspects of the fluid phase(e.g.,splashing volume,dead zone of copper slag,and gas penetration depth)were explored together with the effect of sinusoidal pulsating gas intake on the momentum-transfer performance between phases.The results illustrated that two relatively larger vortices and two smaller vortices appear in the bubble waist and below the lance,respectively.The expansion of larger ones as well as the shrinking of smaller ones co.bine to cause the co.traction of the bubble waist.co.pared to the results of the case with a fixed gas injection velocity(V_(g)=58 m/s),the splashing volume and dead zone volume of the slag under the V_(g)=58+10sin(2πt)co.dition are reduced by 24.9%and 23.5%,respectively,where t represents the instant time.Gas penetration depth and slag motion velocity of the latter are 1.03 and 1.31 times high-er than those of the former,respectively.

co.bustion mechanism of benzene in iron ore sintering process:experimental and simulation

Benzene is a typical co.ponent of volatile organic co.pounds(VOCs)in the iron ore sintering flue gas.The co.bustion behavior of benzene directly affects the emission of VOCs in iron ore sintering process.The effects of temperature,benzene,and oxygen co.centrations on the co.version ratio of benzene were investigated by experiments and numerical simulation.The experiments were carried out in a tube reactor at temperatures of 773-1098 K,benzene co.centrations of 0.01-0.03 vol.%,and oxygen co.centrations of 10-21 vol.%.The numerical simulation was performed with the plug flow model in the CHEMKIN program based on a kinetic model that co.sists of 132 chemical species and 772 elementary step-like reactions.The experimental results reveal that increasing the temperature and benzene co.centration co.ld signifi-cantly promote benzene co.bustion.It is attributed to the increase in the reaction rates of all steps in the pathway for forming co.(2)and H_(2)O.In addition,due to the large equivalent ratio of oxygen to benzene,the co.version ratio of benzene remained co.stant at different oxygen co.centrations.The simulation results were in good agreement with the experimental results and indicated that six elementary reactions dominated the formations of co.(2)and H_(2)O.The oxidations of C_(6)H_(5)O,co.and C_(5)H_(4)O intermediates to co.(2)were the limiting steps in the reaction pathways.

Molybdenum and cadmium co.induce necroptosis through Th1/Th2 imbalance-mediated endoplasmic reticulum stress in duck ovaries

Cadmium(Cd)and excess molybdenum(Mo)pose serious threats to animal health.Our previous study has determined that Cd and/or Mo exposure can cause ovarian damage of ducks,while the specific mechanism is still obscure.To further investigate the toxic mechanism of Cd and Mo co.exposure in the ovary,forty 8-day-old female ducks were randomly allocated into four groups for 16 weeks,and the doses of Cd and Mo in basic diet per kg were as follows:co.trol group,Mo group(100 mg Mo),Cd group(4 mg Cd),and Mo+Cd group(100 mg Mo+4 mg Cd).Cadmium sulfate 8/3-hydrate(CdSO_(4)·8/3H_(2)O)and hexaammonium molybdate((NH_(4))_(6)Mo_(7)O_(24)·4H_(2)O)were the origins of Cd and Mo,respectively.At the 16th week of the experiment,all ovary tissues were co.lected for the detection of related indexes.The data indicated that Mo and/or Cd induced trace element disorders and Th1/Th2 balance to divert toward Th1 in the ovary,which activated endoplasmic reticulum(ER)stress and then provoked necroptosis through triggering RIPK1/RIPK3/MLKL signaling pathway,and eventually caused ovarian pathological injuries and necroptosis characteristics.The alterations of above indicators were most apparent in the joint group.Above all,this research illustrates that Mo and/or Cd exposure can initiate necroptosis through Th1/Th2 imbalance-modulated ER stress in duck ovaries,and Mo and Cd co.bined exposure aggravates ovarian injuries.This research explores the molecular mechanism of necroptosis caused by Mo and/or Cd,which reveals that ER stress attenuation may be a therapeutic target to alleviate necroptosis.

The effects of wheel speeds on the magnetic properties and microstructures of[(Nd,Pr)_(1-x)Ce_(x)]-Fe-B meltspun ribbons were investigated.co.pared to melt-spun ribbons with low cerium(Ce)co.tent(x=0.2),amorphous formation can be suppressed at high wheel speed in the ribbons with a relatively high Ce co.tent(x=0.8),and with the increase of the wheel speed,the magnetic properties of the ribbons with high Ce co.tent raise co.tinuously.At high wheel speed,the co.rcivity mechanism of melt-spun ribbons is mainly pinning field,and the high wheel speed introduces a large number of defects into the matrix as pinning sites.Furthermore,ribbons with high Ce co.tent form a fine and uniform grain structure,so the grain boundary area enlarges,which further hinders the movement of domain walls.The co.bined effects of the above factors enable ribbons with high Ce co.tent to have excellent magnetic properties(Hcj=0.977 T,Mr=64 m^(2) A/kg)at the wheel speed of 35 m/s.

Cyber-Physical Resilience Enhancement for Power Transmission Systems with Energy Storage Systems

In a power system, when extreme events occur, such as ice storm, large scale blackouts may be unavoidable. Such small probability but high risk events have huge impact on power systems. Most resilience research in power systems only co.siders faults on the physical side, which would lead to overly idealistic results. This paper proposes a two-stage cyber-physical resilience enhancement method co.sidering energy storage (ES) systems. The first stage calculates optimal planning of ES systems, and the seco.d stage assesses resilience and enhancement of ES systems during the disaster. In the proposed model, cyber faults indirectly damage the system by disabling monitoring and co.trol function of co.trol center. As a result, when detection and response process of physical faults are blocked by cyber failures, serious load shedding occurs. Such a cyber-physical co.pling mechanism of fault, response, restoration process is demonstrated in the modified IEEE Reliable Test System-79 (RTS-79). Simulation results show co.pared with the physical-only system, the cyber-physical system has a more accurate but degraded resilient performance. Besides, ES systems setting at proper place effectively enhance resilience of the cyber-physical transmission system with less load Shedding.

Occurrence and vertical distribution of aluminum and rare earths in weathered crust elution-deposited rare earth ore:Effect of soil solution pH and clay minerals

Weathered crust elution-deposited rare earth ore is crucial source of medium and heavy rare earths,with in-situ leaching being the most co.mon mining method.The high co.tents of impurity of aluminum in the leach solution are a significant challenge for the subsequent enrichment process of rare earths.A co.prehensive understanding of the occurrences and vertical distribution of aluminum and rare earths within typical vertical profiles can provide valuable insights into entire design of the in-situ leaching.This paper improves a five-step sequential extraction method to analyze the occurrence and vertical distribution of rare earths and aluminum in vertical profiles from Chongzuo and Longyan.Experimental results demonstrate that soil solution pH is the main factor affecting the vertical distribution of ionexchangeable rare earths.Both samples have distinct areas of enrichment for ion-exchangeable rare earths or aluminum.Ion-exchangeable rare earths are primary co.centrated in the middle and lower parts of the ore layer(4-13 m in Chongzuo,14-22 m in Longyan),while the ion-exchangeable aluminum is mainly enriched in the upper part of the ore layer(1-5 m in Chongzuo,and 2-14 m in Longyan).The vertical distribution of inorganic hydroxy aluminum is likely influenced by the micro morphology and particle size of the day minerals.The inorganic hydroxy aluminum co.centration in Chongzuo samples decreases co.tinuously from 415.65 to 120.95 mg/kg with increasing sampling depth,whereas the co.centration in Longyan samples(110.55-171.27 mg/kg) is almost independence with sampling depth.These results provide direct guidance for the entire design of the injection well depth and the leaching parameters,thereby inhibiting the leaching of impurity of aluminum and lower the co.sumption of leaching agent.

Dear Editor,Utilization of heterosis is fundamental to modern agricultural improvement and co.tributes significantly to food security and agricultural development(Ouyang et al.,2022).However,heterosis of F,hybrids cannot be stably inherited.Apomixis,or asexual reproduction through seeds,offers the potential for the fixation of heterosis in F,hybrids and the formation of clonal offspring,which co.ld have co.siderable implications for plant breeding and agriculture(Schmidt,2020).But naturally occurring apomixis has never been found in major crops.Recently,synthetic apomixis has been successfully generated by inducing inco.plete meiotic development co.bined with parthenogenesis development to produce cloned rice(Oryza sativa)seeds(Khanday et al.,2019;Wang et al.,2019;Vernet et al.,2022;Wei et al.,2023).

A molecular insight into co.e formation process of vacuum residue in thermal cracking reaction

Understanding the co.ing behaviors has been co.sidered to be really essential for developing better vacuum residue processing technologies. A battery of thermal cracking tests of typical vacuum residue at410°C with various reaction time were performed to evaluate the co.e formation process. The total yields of ideal co.ponents including naphtha, atmospheric gas oil(AGO) and vacuum gas oil(VGO) of thermal cracking reactions increased from 10.89% to 40.81%, and the co.version ratios increased from8.05% to 43.33% with increasing the reaction time from 10 to 70 min. The asphaltene co.tent increased from 12.14% to a maximum of 22.39% and then decreased, and this maximum of asphaltene co.tent occurred at the end of the co.ing induction period. The asphaltenes during the co.ing induction period,at the end and after co.ing induction period of those tested thermal cracking reactions were characterized to disclose the structure changing rules for co.e formation process, and the co.e formation pathways were discussed to reveal the co.e formation process at molecular level.

Defects in the grain interiors of 3 mol%yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirco.ia polycrystal ceramics with 0.25 wt%alumina

The presence of high-density defects is rarely observed in bulk 3 mol%yttria-stabilized tetragonal zirco.ia polycrystal(3Y-TZP)ceramics obtained through co.ventional pressureless sintering.In the present work,fine-grained dense 147 nm 3Y-TZP ceramics were prepared by pressureless sintering of co.mercial 0.25 wt%alumina-doped zirco.ia powders at 1300℃.A novel disco.ery was reported in which large amounts of defects were present in the grain interiors of the sample.The phenomenon was further examined using three types of powder samples,and the reasons for defect formation were investigated by microstructural characterization using high-resolution transmission electron microsco.y(HRTEM)analysis and Rietveld refinement.The results co.firmed the essential dependence of the defect formation on the alumina addition.The authors attributed the defect formation to the significant difference in ionic radii of the solvent and solute during the dissolution of alumina into the zirco.ia lattice.The sintering kinetics were proposed to be enhanced by the presence of substantial defects,which co.sequently favored the low-temperature sintering of the alumina-doped zirco.ia ceramics.
