co.crete-Filled Steel Tube Arch Bridges in China

In the past 20 years, great progress has been achieved in China in the co.struction of co.crete-filled steel tube （CFST） arch bridges and co.crete arch bridges with a CFST skeleton. The span of these bridges has been increasing rapidly, which is rare in the history of bridge development. The large-scale co.struction of expressways and high-speed railways demands the development of long-span arch bridges, and advances in design and co.struction techniques have made it possible to co.struct such bridges. In the present study, the current status, development, and major innovative technologies of CFST arch bridges and co.crete arch bridges with a CFST skeleton in China are elaborated. This paper co.ers the key co.- struction technologies of CFST arch bridges, such as the design, manufacture, and installation of steel tube arch trusses, the preparation and pouring of in-tube co.crete, and the co.struction of the world＇s longest CFST arch bridge-the First Hejiang Yangtze River Bridge. The main co.struction technologies of rein- forced co.crete arch bridges are also presented, which include cable-stayed fastening-hanging cantilever assembly, adjusting the load by means of stay cables, surrounding the co.crete for arch rib pouring, and so forth. In addition, the co.struction of two CFST skeleton co.crete arch bridges-the Guangxi Yongning Yong River Bridge and the Yunnan-Guangxi Railway Nanpan River Bridge--is discussed. CFST arch bridges in China have already gained a world-leading position; with the co.tinuous innovation of key technologies, China will beco.e the new leader in promoting the development of arch bridges.

Highly efficient and selective removal of phosphate from wastewater of sea cucumber aquaculture for microalgae culture using a new adsorption-membrane separation-co.rdinated strategy

Enhanced phosphorus treatment and reco.ery has been co.tinuously pursued due to the stringent wastewater discharge regulations and a phosphate supply shortage. Here, a new adsorption-membrane separation strategy was developed for rational reutilization of phosphate from sea cucumber aquaculture wastewater using a Zr-modified-bentonite filled polyvinyl chloride membrane. The as-obtained polyvinyl chloride/Zr-modified-bentonite membrane was highly permeability (940 L/(m2·h)), 1–2 times higher than those reported in other studies, and its adsorption capacity was high (20.6 mg/g) when the phosphate co.centration in water was low (5 mg/L). It remained stable under various co.ditions, such as different pH, initial phosphate co.centrations, and the presence of different ions after 24 h of adsorption in a cross-flow filtration system. The total phosphorus and phosphate removal rate reached 91.5% and 95.9%, respectively, after the membrane was used to treat sea cucumber aquaculture wastewater for 24 h and no other water quality parameters had been changed. After the purification process, the utilization of the membrane as a new source of phosphorus in the phosphorus-free f/2 medium experiments indicated the high cultivability of eco.omic microalgae Phaeodactylum trico.nutum FACHB-863 and 1.2 times more chlorophyll a was present than in f/2 medium. The biomass and lipid co.tent of the microalgae in the two different media were similar. The innovative polyvinyl chloride/Zr-modified-bentonite membrane used for phosphorus removal and reco.ery is an important instrument to establish the groundwork for both the treatment of low co.centration phosphate from wastewater as well as the reuse of enriched phosphorus in required fields.

To study the unsteady flow and related energy co.version process in the volute of a pump-as-turbine(PAT)device,six different working co.ditions have been *** numerical calculation,the spatio-temporal variation of static pressure,dynamic pressure,total pressure and turbulent energy dissipation have been determined in each section of the *** is co.cluded that the reduction of the total power of two adjacent sections of the PAT volute is equal to the sum of the power lost by the fluid while moving from one section to the other and the power output from the two adjacent *** a fixed flow rate,the percentage of static pressure energy at the outlet of the PAT is roughly similar to that of the co.responding volute section,and both show a gradually increasing *** turbulent dissipation rate on each section of the PAT volute displays a similar a spatio-temporal behavior for different flow rates.

A new real-time algorithm of wavelet transform for detection of sudden-changing signals of power systems

With a co.plex wavelet function, a new real-time recursive algorithm of wavelet transform (WT) is analyzed in detail. co.pared with the existing recursive algorithm in two directions, the co.puting time is greatly reduced in response to faults signals in power systems, and the same recursive algorithm can be generalized to other wavelet functions. With the phases and magnitudes of co.plex WT co.fficients under the fast recursive algorithm, a method to detect faults signals of power systems is presented. Lastly, the analyzing results of some signals show that it is effective and practical for the co.plex wavelet and its real-time recursive algorithm to detect faults of power systems.

An Anisotropic Geomechanical Model for Jointed Rock Masses at Taishan Nuclear Power Station, Southern China

An anisotropic geomechanical model for jointed rock mass is presented. Simultaneously with deriving the orthotropic anisotropy elastic parameters along the positive axis, the equivalent co.pliance matrix for the deflection axis orthotropic anisotropy was derived through a three- dimensional co.rdinate transformation. In addition, Singh＇s analysis of the stress co.centration effects of intermittent joints was adopted, based on two groups of intermittent joints and a set of cross- cutting joints in the jointed rock mass. The stress co.centration effects caused by intermittent joints and the co.pling effect of cross-cutting joints along the deflection-axis are also co.sidered. The proposed anisotropic mechanics parameters method is applied to determine the deformation parameters of jointed granite at the Taishan Nuclear Power Station. co.bined with the deterministic mechanical parameters of rock blocks and joints, the deformation parameters and their variability in jointed rock masses are estimated quantitatively. The co.puted results show that jointed granite at the Taishan Nuclear Power Station exhibits typical anisotropic mechanical characteristics; the elastic moduli in the two horizontal directions were similar, but the elastic modulus in the vertical direction was much greater. Jointed rock elastic moduli in the two horizontal and vertical directions were respectively about 24% and 37% of the co.e of rock, showing weakly orthotropic anisotropy; the ratio of elastic moduli in the vertical and horizontal directions was 1.53, clearly indicating the transversely isotropic rock mass mechanical characteristics. The method can be popularized to solve other rock mechanics problems in nuclear power engineering.

Chaotic time series prediction for surrounding rock's deformation of deep mine lanes in soft rock

Based on the measured displacements,the change laws of the effect of distance in phase space on the deformation of mine lane were analyzed and the chaotic time series model to predict the surrounding rocks deformation of deep mine lane in soft rock by nonlinear theory and methods was *** chaotic attractor dimension(D) and the largest Lyapunov index(Emax) were put forward to determine whether the deformation process of mine lane is chaotic and the degree of *** analysis of examples indicates that when D>2 and Emax>0,the surrounding rock's deformation of deep mine lane in soft rock is the chaotic process and the laws of the deformation can still be well demonstrated by the method of the reco.structive state *** with the prediction of linear time series and grey prediction,the chaotic time series prediction has higher accuracy and the prediction results can provide theoretical basis for reasonable support of mine lane in soft *** time of the seco.d support in Maluping Mine of Guizhou,China,is determined to arrange at about 40 d after the initial support acco.ding to the prediction results.

Effect of matrix structure on mechanical properties and dry rolling-sliding wear performance of alloyed ductile iron

The influence of matrix structure on mechanical properties and dry rolling-sliding wear performance of alloyed ductile iron was examined. Four kinds of alloyed ductile irons with different matrix structures were produced through an adequate balance of alloying elements. Tensile tests and dry rolling-sliding wear tests were carried out at room temperature. The results show that yield strength and ultimate tensile strength increase, while elongation decreases until the matrix fully beco.es pearlite. The lower matrix hardness results in more graphite emerging on the co.tact surface, which yields the decrease in friction co.fficient. Besides, the wear rate decreases with the increase in matrix hardness among alloyed ductile irons except that with full pearlite matrix, the wear performance of which seems to be deteriorated due to poor fracture toughness. The main wear mechanism is delamination under an air-co.ling co.dition. Based on the results of mechanical and wear tests, ductile iron with about 80% pearlite exhibits better wear performance as well as relatively reasonable mechanical properties.

Removing Iron by Magnetic Separation from a Potash Feldspar Ore

A new permanent magnetic separator was introduced to treat the ores with the characteristics of weak magnetic iron minerals and in a fine size range. The new machine was applied to the iron removal from potash feldspar. The effects of the magnetic field intensity, pulp density and grinding fineness on the iron removal were investigated. The optimized operation parameters were achieved and listed as follows： the -0.074 mm co.tent is 85%, the pulp density is 45% and the magnetic field strength is 2T. A close test of middles regrinding was also carried out to improve co.centrate yield. The data show that the grade of TFe（total iron） in potash feldspar product decreased from 1.31% to 0.21% and the co.centrate yield reached 85.32%. All the results indicated that the traditonal high-intensity electromagnetic separators can be betterly substituted by the new permanent magnetic separator. This study may provide the theoretical evidence for iron removal from potash feldspar.
