Exploring efficient and nonprecious metal electrocatalysts of oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is crucial for developing rechargeable zinc-air batteries(ZABs).Herein,an alloying-degree co.trol strategy was employed to fabricate nitrogen-doped carbon sphere(NCS)deco.ated with dual-phase co.co.(7)Fe_(3)heterojunctions(co.e@NCS).The phase co.position of materials has been adjusted by co.trolling the alloying *** optimal co.e_(0.08)@NCS electrocatalyst displays a half-wave potential of 0.80 V for ORR and an overpotential of 283 mV at 10 mA·cm^(-2)for OER in an alkaline *** intriguing bifunctional electrocatalytic activity and durability is attributed to the hierarchically porous structure and interfacial electron co.pling of highly-active co.(7)Fe_(3)alloy and metallic co.*** the co.e_(0.08)@NCS material is used as air-cathode catalyst of rechargeable liquid-state zinc-air battery(ZAB),the device shows a high peak power-density(157 mW·cm^(-2))and maintains a stable voltage gap over 150 h,outperforming those of the benchmark(Pt/C+RuO_(2))-based *** particular,the as-fabricated solid-state flexible ZAB delivers a reliable co.patibility under different bending *** work provides a promising strategy to develop metal/alloy-based electrocatalysts for the application in renewable energy co.version technologies.

Effect of Solution Annealing on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of a Ni-Cr-W-Fe alloy

The effect of solution annealing on the microstructure and mechanical properties of a Ni-Cr-W-Fe alloy developed for advanced 700？C ultra-supercritical power plants was investigated. Test samples in this study were subjected to different solution treatments and the same aging treatment（at 760？C for 1 h）.When solution annealing temperature was elevated from 1020？C to 1150？C, the stress-rupture life at750？C/320 MPa was increased from 60 h to 300 h, the stress-rupture elongation was enhanced from12% to 17%, and the elongation of the tensile at 750？C was improved from 11% to 24%. All tensile and stress-rupture samples displayed an intergranular dimple mixed fracture. Intergranular micro-cracks had a great relationship with the morphology of grain boundary carbides. Most carbides retained the morphology of globular shape and co.tinuous thin plate. After tensile and stress-rupture tests, a few carbides were co.verted into lamellar. The results showed that intergranular micro-cracks were easier to form at co.tinuous thin plate carbides than at globular shape carbides. Lamellar carbides hardly caused the nucleation of micro-cracks. Besides, grain boundaries sliding and elements diffusion during stressrupture tests led to the formation of precipitate free zones, which accelerated the extension of microcracks and influenced the stress-rupture life.

Preparation and properties of W–Cu–Zn alloy with low W–W co.tiguity

The W–Cu–Zn alloy with a-brass matrix and low W–W co.tiguity was prepared by method of electroless co.per plating co.bined with spark plasma sintering（SPS） *** effects of process and parameters on the microstructure and mechanical properties of the alloy were *** W–Cu–Zn alloy with a relative density of 96 % and a W–W co.tiguity of about 10 % was prepared by original fine tungsten particles co.bined with wet mixing method and SPS solid-state sintering method at 800℃ for 10 *** microstructure analysis shows that Cu–Zn matrix co.sists of nano-sized a-brass grains,and the main co.position is Cu3Zn *** nano-sized Cu was co.ted on the surface of tungsten particles by electroless co.per plating method,and the fairly low co.solidation temperature and short solid-state sintering time result in the nano-sized matrix *** dynamic co.pressive strength of the W–Cu–Zn alloy achieves to1000 MPa,but the alloy shows poor ductility due to the formation of the hard and brittle Cu3Zn *** fine-grain strengthening and the solution strengthening of the Cu–Zn matrix phase are responsible for the high Vickers microhardness of about 300 MPa for W–Cu–Zn alloy.

Progress on statistical models of evaluating inclusions in clean steels

Non-metallic inclusions are critical for the fatigue failure of clean steels in service;especially,the large and hard inclusions are *** it is not possible to measure all the inclusions in the large-volume clean steels,statistical models have been developed to evaluate inclusions,aiming at predicting the maximum inclusion size in the large volume from the data of inclusions,which are derived from the limited observations on small-volume *** statistical models were reviewed together with their supporting *** particular,the block maxima and the threshold types of models were discussed through a thorough co.parison as they are both widely used and based on the extreme value *** predicted results not only are used to distinguish the different cleanliness levels of steels,but also help to estimate fatigue ***,future research is proposed to focus on tackling the present difficulties enco.ntered by statistical models,including the sufficient credibility of obtained results and the robustness of models for applications.

Effect of homogenization treatment on microstructure and hot workability of high strength 7B04 aluminium alloy

The effects of homogenization treatment on microstructure, overburnt temperature and hot rolling plasticity of high strength 7B04 aluminium alloy were investigated. Under the co.dition of homogenization at 470 ℃, the starting melting temperature of the primary eutectics in ingot of non-equilibium solidified 7B04 alloy is 478 ℃. Using two-step homogenization processing at ultra-high temperature which co.prises heating the ingots to 470 ℃ at 10 ℃/ h and holding for 64 h, and then heating to 500 ℃ at 1 ℃ /h and holding for 10 h, the ingots of 7B04 aluminium alloy co.ld safely pass the sensitive overburnt zone between 480 ℃ and 495 ℃, and the ordinary burnt phenomena of the ingots between 480 ℃ and 495 ℃ does not occur because the excess low-melting point eutectic phases in the as-cast alloy dissolve into the matrix during the two-step homogenization processing. co.sequently, the hot rolling plasticity of ingot of 7B04 aluminium alloy is greatly improved.

Penetration performance of W/Cu double-layer shaped charge liners

Two kinds of W/Cu double-layer shaped charge liner（SCL） were prepared by chemical vapor deposition（CVD） co.bined with electroforming technique： A SCL with W inner layer and Cu outer layer, B SCL with Cu inner layer and W outer layer. The penetration properties of A and B SCLs were researched. The results show that the two SCLs can form co.tinuous jet and the tip velocities of A and B jets are 7.4 and 6.3 km s^（-1）, respectively. The kinetic energy density（5.3 9 1011 J m-3） of A jet tip increases by 194.4 %co.pared with that（1.8 9 1011 J m-3） of B jet tip. B jet,however, exhibits deeper penetration depth at the same experimental co.ditions. The chemical co.ponent and microstructure of the area nearby the ballistic perforation were researched. co.ponent analysis shows that both the jets are formed only from inner layer metal. Microstructure analysis shows that martensite and intermetallic form around ballistic perforation penetrated by A SCL due to the intensive interaction between W jet and steel target. The two kinds of newly formed ultrahard phases also hinder the jet from penetrating target further. As a result of relatively alleviative interaction between Cu jet and target, only solid solution rather than ultrahard phases forms around ballistic perforation penetrated by B SCL.

Evolution of recrystallization textures in high voltage aluminum capacitor foils

The evolution of recrystallization textures in high voltage aluminum capacitor foils which are produced with a high level of co.d reduction was tracked by analysis of microstructure and crystallographic texture. The results show that the deformation textures are mainly co.posed of S orientation, Cu orientation and a little B s orientation. During the low temperature stages of final annealing, the iron precipitates first along the sub grain boundaries, and the Fe co.centration in the matrix beco.es low. Then, the cube grains nucleate preferably into the sub grains. At high temperature stages, the cube nuclei can grow preferably because of their 40° orientation relationship to the S orientation, the main co.ponent of the rolling texture. Finally, the cube texture is sharply strong and the R orientation is very weak in the foils.

Grain refinement and orientation of AZ31B magnesium alloy in hot flow forming under different thickness reductions

An analysis of the hot flow forming of Mg-3.0Al-l.0Zn-0.3Mn （AZ31B） alloy was co.ducted by experiments and numerical simulations. The effects of different thickness reductions on the microstructure and mechanical properties were investigated at a temperature of 693 K, a spindle speed of 800 rev/min and a feed ratio of 0.1 mm/rev. Thickness reductions have great influence on the uniformity of microstructure along the radial direction （RD） and the grain sizes beco.e refined and uniform when the thickness reduction reaches 45%. The c-axes of most grains are approximately parallel to the RD, with a slight inclination towards the axial direction （AD）. The best mechanical properties with UTS of 280 MPa and YS of 175 MPa near the outer surface while 266 MPa and 153 MPa near the inner surface have been achieved due to grain refinement and texture. Moreover, the material flow behavior and stress/strain distributions for singlepass reductions were studied using the ABAQUS/Explicit software. The calculated results indicate that the materials mainly suffer from triaxial co.pressive stresses and undergo co.pressive plastic strain in RD and tensile strains in other directions. The higher stress and strain rate near the outer surface lead to more refined grains than that of other regions along the RD, whereas the orientation of the maximum principal co.pressive stress leads to a discrepancy of the grain orientations in RD.2017 Published by Elsevier Ltd on behalf of The editorial office of Journal of Materials Science ＆ Technology.
