Effects of B_2O_3 and CaF_2 on Melting Temperatures of CaO-SiO_2-Fe_2O_3 System Fluxes

Fluorite is widely employed as fluxing agent in metallurgy flux , which inevitably leads to serious fluorine pollution.B2O3 is employed as fluxing agent of CaO-SiO2-Fe2O3steelmaking fluxes to substitute for *** effects of B2O3 and CaF2 on the melting properties of this system were *** melting temperatures of fluxes including softening temperature （Ts）, hemispherical temperature （Th）, and flow temperature （Tf） were measured using the hemisphere *** results indicate that the fluxing effect of B2O3is more significant than that of CaF2 .When the addition amount of B2O3 （mass percent） exceeds 6% , the melting temperatures of fluxes including Ts , Th and Tf are decreased lower than 1 300℃.The basicity of fluxes has a significant effect on the melting temperature , and the melting temperatures of the fluxes increase with the increase of fluxes *** , when B2O3 is used as fluxing agent , the melting temperature changes little with the basicity increasing from 2.5 to 5.0. These characteristics are suitable for steelmaking *** , Fe2O3 has an important fluxing effect on this CaO-based steelmaking *** indicates that the fluxes system is suitable for steelmaking process.

The effect of ladle slag composition, bottom stirring intensity, and refining duration on desulphurization (De-S hereafter) behavior was investigated in ladle furnace (180t) through production data analysis and plant scale experiments. The results show that the ladle slag composition for deep De-S is w(CaO): 50%-55%, w(CaF2): 3%-7%, w(Al2O3): 20%-25%, w (SiO2) <10%, w (MgO) <10%, and w(FeO) <0.5%; De-S ratio doubled from around 10% to around 20%, within the selected period of 8 min with the increase of Ar flowrate of bottom blowing from 400 L/min to 600 L/min; sulfur can be reduced to less than 10 ppm from around 35 ppm within 20 min if the Ar flowrate is kept at 600 L/min; during steelmaking trial of X65 HIC resistant steel, the sulfur content of final product was controlled to be below 10 ppm when sulfur content of the melt at BOF blowing end was kept below 60 ppm, De-S was carried out with the above mentioned slag, and 600 L/min Ar stirring for more than 20 min.

A series of ferrite/bainite(F/B) multi-phase steels containing different volume fractions of ferrite were *** effect of soft phase(ferrite) content on the work-hardening behavior of the steel was studied by the finite element simulation with V-BCC model and the modified Crussard-Jaoul(C-J) *** is shown that the multi-phase steels have an excellent anti-deformation ability,such as higher stress ratio(R t1.5 /R t0.5),higher uniform elongation and lower yield to tensile strength *** the F/B multi-phase steels,increasing the proportion of ferrite would help to increase the uniform ***,introducing much more fraction of ferrite would not be helpful to improve the stress ratio of multi-phase *** ferrite plastic strain constrained by bainite would be beneficial to increasing the work hardening *** optimum proportion of ferrite will result both higher stress ratio and uniform elongation in multi-phase steel.

In situ measurements of austenite grain growth were made at various temperatures in the range of 1273-1473 K with subsequent isothermal holding time of 3600 s for the Nb-Ti-bearing and Nb-Ti-free high carb on steel by using a confocal laser scanning *** solid solute behavior of Nb-Ti carbides during austenitizing process was *** experimental results indicate that the austenite grains of both steels grow up gradually with increasing the heating temperature and holding time;the size and growth rate of austenite grain of Nb-Ti-bearing high carbon steel are much lower than those of Nb-Ti-free high carbon steel.A large amount of(Nb,Ti)(C,N)nanoparticles are observed in Nb-Tibearing steel,which retain the strong pinning effect on austenite grain *** kinetics model of austenite grain growth of Nb-Ti-bearing steel during isothermal heat treatment is obtained and the predicted values calculated by using the model meet the experimental values very well.

A new type of steel containing Sb based on the CASTRIP process had been designed to improve the corrosion resistance of high-strength steels in industrial *** properties of the electrochemistry and rust layer(RL)were analyzed to evaluate the corrosion resistance of the ultra-thin cast strip(UCS)steel containing 0.10%*** results showed that the corrosion resistance of UCS steel containing Sb was doubled compared to that of traditional hot rolling strip(HRS)*** could be interpreted as an integral effect of CASTRIP process and alloying *** optimization for microstructure and inclusion of UCS steel can reduce the localized corrosion effects in initial corrosion ***,P and Sb reduced the anodic reaction and CuFeO2/Cu2O,CuO,FePO4 and Sb2O3 were formed,promoting the transition fromγ-FeOOH toα-FeOOH.A(Cu,Sb,P)-enriched inner RL was generated and significantly improved protective ability of the RL.

Electrical steel sheets with 6.5%(mas fraction) Si with good shapes and superior magnetic inductions were successfully produced by a specially designed processing route including ingot casting, hot rolling and warm rolling both with interpass thermal treatment, and final annealing. The sheets were of 0.2 mm and 0.3 mm thick over 140 mm width. A detailed study of the microstructural and textural evolutions from the hot rolling to annealing was carried out by optical microscopy, X-ray diffraction and electron backscattered diffraction. The hot rolled sheet characterized by near-equiaxed grains was dominated by the mixture of //ND fiber(λ-fiber), //RD fiber(α-fiber) and //ND fiber(γ-fiber) textures owing to the partial recrystallization and strain induced boundary migration(SIBM) during the hot rolling interpass thermal treatment. The static recovery and SIBM during the warm rolling interpass thermal treatment result in large and elongated warm rolling grains. The warm rolling texture is dominated by obvious λ, Goss and strong γ-fiber textures. The application of the interpass thermal treatment during hot and warm rolling significantly enhances the impact of SIBM during annealing, which is responsible for the formation of the moderate λ-fiber, some near-λ fiber texture components and the obviously weakened γ-fiber texture in the annealed sheet, leading to a higher magnetic induction compared to the commercially produced 6.5% Si steel by chemical vapor deposition(CVD).

Nozzle cooling equipment is developed to supervise and control the heat flux by changing water flux. An in- dustrial experiment is held in billet caster in Huaigang . The results show that cooling control system works stably and effectively to control the heat fluxes by the temperature of copper tube. The superheat of steel in mould is reduced and the equiaxed crystal ratio, as well as compact degree of steel is raised.

The burden profile distribution in the radial direction of the blast furnace determines the gas flow passage, thus it is of vital importance for stable and economical operation of a blast furnace. In this study, an experimental bell-less top charging model was built on a 1:15 scale of 5800m blast furnace in shasteel to investigate how burden layer behaves inside the large scale blast furnace. To keep the same similarity condition between the cold charging model and the actual blast furnace, the particle size distribution, burden falling trajectory, and the U/Umf were kept the same. Automatic charging of materials into the cold model is done by a rotating distributor at preset charging and blowing parameters which are determined by similarity condition. By making use of this model furnace, the burden layer distribution in the radial direction of 5800m at four stable operation periods was reproduced. The result shows that with increase of center coke amount, the slope angle decreases and less coke is pushed to the center part of blast furnace, while large amount of center coke leads to a large center coke column and result in a low gas utilization ratio in actual blast furnace operation. Furthermore it is found that great non-uniformity of the descent velocity in the radial direction exists, 40% in difference between the wall and center part.
