Lubrication and friction between the mould and strand are strongly influenced by mould oscillation, and play an important role in slab quality and operating safety during continuous casting processes. Investigation of mould oscillation is therefore essential for getting a better online control of the mould processes. A feasible approach for the development and optimization of mould oscillation was put forward, which combined online measurement of mould friction, design of negative oscillating parameters and evaluation for powder consumption. Three different control models including sinusoidal and non-sinusoidal oscillation for mould oscillations were developed to investigate and evaluate the effects of oscillation on mould friction and powder lubrication. For the purpose of investigating mould friction between mould and strand, online measurement was carried out on a slab continuous caster equipped with a hydraulic oscillator. Also the comparison of the mould friction in sinusoidal and non-sinusoidal mould oscillation was made for subsequent analysis. The industrial experiment result shows that the combination of inverse control model and non-sinusoidal oscillation mode will contribute to the proper powder consumption, leading to a suitable effect of friction force on strand surface, especially for high speed continuous casting. The proposed method provides reliable basis for guiding and optimizing mould oscillation among control models, sinusoidal oscillation and non-sinusoidal oscillation.

To obtain solid Al2O3 or MgO·Al2O3 inclusions in ladle furnace(LF)refining process and achieve ultra-low total oxygen content in steel through subsequent Ruhrstahl Heraeus degassing,the effects of ferrosilicon alloy,Si content of steel,and slag basicity on the compositions of inclusions during LF refining were investigated in Al-killed ***2O3 inclusions could be transformed into CaO-Al2O3-MgO-CaS inclusions after adding ferrosilicon alloy in the LF refining process as this alloy contains some CaSi alloy *** addition of all ferrosilicon alloys required for the steel in the tapping process could eliminate the influence of Ca in ferrosilicon alloy on the compositions of *** in liquid steel had a significant influence on the compositions of inclusions during LF refining when CaO-Al2O3-SiO2-MgO slag with high basicity of 7.0 was *** was because[Ca]produced by the reaction of CaO and[Al]could be consumed more readily by SiO2 in Si-free steel than in Si-containing steel,which was confirmed by the difference of total calcium content between Si-free and Si-containing *** a result,Al2O3 and MgO·Al2O3 inclusions were retained in Si-free steel,whereas calcium aluminate inclusions were found in Si-containing *** CaO-Al2O3-SiO2-MgO slag with low basicity of 2.8,Al2O3 and MgO·Al2O3 inclusions were obtained after LF refining in Si-containing steel when all ferrosilicon alloys required for the steel were added in the tapping *** was because the reaction of CaO and[Al]was weak,and residual[Ca]in the steel could be rapidly consumed by SiO2 in low-basicity slag owing to the low activity of CaO and high activity of SiO2,leading to a low total calcium content of 0.0003%in Si-containing steel.

Deep drawing properties of hot rolled gas cylinder steel was investigated by using HP295 steel in terms of microstructure, texture, yield ratio, plastic strain ratio （r value） and plastic anisotropy （Ar）. The grains in the hot strip were largely equiaxed, and the texture was weak, containing a- and ？＇fibre. Reheating temperature, finish roll ing temperature and cooling rate after rolling influenced the ferrite-pearlite band formation significantly, and the yield ratio increased steeply with decreasing coiling temperature below 630 ~C. The anisotropy is relatively high due to re- tained severe ferrite-pearlite band. A mechanism of the band formation due to manganese segregation is elaborated and confirmed validly, from which the measures to avoid the band formation are worked out. Rolling parameters have been optimized by the measures, and industrial production of the gas cylinder steel has been made possible with much improved r-and △r-values, while meeting other specifications.

The mechanical properties, corrosion resistance and microstructures of high performance steel （HPS） was investigated by tensile testing machine, Charpy V-Notch （CVN） testing machine, cyclic immersion corrosion tester, XRD, optical microscopy （OM）, scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, and electron probe micro-analyzer （EPMA）. The results showed that significant differences existed in the tensile strength, yield strength and impact toughness between HPS and PCS. After 72 h cyclic immersion accelerated corrosion test, the inner rust layer on HPS was com- posed of a-FeOOH phase and denser than that on PCS that was a mixture of a-FeOOH and Fe3 04. The rust formed on HPS provides better protection and HPS has lower corrosion rates than PCS. Copper and chromium in HPS en- rich in the rust layer and enhance the compactness of the rust layer. Based on the results of the accelerated corrosion tests and rust layer analysis, the roles of Cu and Cr against corrosion are discussed, providing HPS with chemical specification which has been industrially successful to produce weathering steel for bridge structure.

In order to research the effect of microalloying Nb,the microstructure and heat treatment distortion of case carburizing steels with and without Nb addition are *** show that a uniform and fine prior austenite grain size was obtained for the steel with the addition of 0.03 wt.%Nb even after being carburized at 980℃for 37 h,resulting in a very deep hardened layer of about 4 *** is an effective microalloying element to hinder austenite grain growth of gears during high-temperature *** calculation and experimental observation of NbC precipitates indicate that fine NbC precipitates have not evidently dissolved at 980℃,and thus they can act as grain refiners due to pinning *** treatment distortion of Nb-added steel is much lower than that of the steel without Nb *** may be contributed to its fine and uniform grain size,which presumably influences stress during martensitic transformation.

In order to solve the problem of poor formability caused by different materials and properties in the process of tailor-welded sheets forming,a forming method was proposed to change the stress state of tailor-welded sheets by covering the tailor-welded sheets with better plastic properties overlapping *** the same time,the interface friction effect between the overlapping and tailor-welded sheets was utilized to control the stress magnitude and further improve the formability and quality of the tailor-welded *** this work,the bulging process of the tailor-welded overlapping sheets was taken as the research *** alloy tailor-welded overlapping sheets bulging specimens were studied by a combination of finite element analysis and experimental *** results show that the appropriate use of interface friction between tailor-welded and overlapping sheets can improve the formability of tailor-welded sheets and control the flow of weld seam to improve the forming *** increasing the interface friction coefficient on the side of tailor-welded sheets with higher strength and decreasing that on the side of tailor-welded sheets with lower strength,the deformation of the tailor-welded sheets are more uniform,the offset of the weld seam is minimal,the limit bulging height is maximal,and the forming quality is optimal.
